Fighting the Giant Spider, Second Spiral Staircase

Swoosh-!

As the water spears flew towards the giant spider, it put up four of its legs to defend itself-

Ching~!

Ptsh-!

Unfortunately, even though it managed to dodge over half of the water spears with its powerful and sturdy legs, the remaining water spears managed to get through its defense and pierce directly into its body, causing it to let out a painful scream as it wobbled around on its remaining legs still on the ground. Looking like it was about to fall over at any moment due to the impact of the water spears.

Swish-!

Seeing the clear opportunity that presented itself as the giant spider tried stabilizing itself again, Scaly used her recently increased strength to rush forward. Appearing in front of the giant spider just as the four legs blocking her earlier attack landed on the ground.

Kieee-!

Knowing that Scaly was more than strong enough to threaten it after having faced the water spears, the giant spider used its large fangs to bite down at Scaly. Hoping to kill her before she had a chance to do any more damage than she had already done.

Hmph! How predictable!

However, upon seeing the large fangs heading directly towards her, Scaly did not panic and instead smiled slightly as she continued to rush forward-

Chiiing~!

Using her own claws at the last moment to block one of the fangs as she dodged to the side. Resulting in her being on the left side of the spider's head without there being any way for the spider to block her.

Ptsh!

KIEEEE!

Not intending to waste such a perfect chance, Scaly used her claws to pierce through the head of the giant spider. Instantly causing it to let out a terrifying scream that alerted all of the nearby monsters to what was happening.

Bang-!

However, before any of the surrounding monsters could rush over to try and fish in troubled waters, Scaly attacked again. Killing the giant spider before it could let out an even louder scream and possibly alert some of the more powerful monsters in the cave.

Although Scaly was more than confident in dealing with these monsters now that she had gone through her second evolution, she still remembered the scene of the cave alligator being swarmed by hundreds of monsters without any way to fight back or run away.

No matter how strong she was, she understood that she would not be able to withstand such a dedicated attack. Not to mention, she had ended up using over half of her mana and quite a bit of her energy killing the giant spider, as it was not without cost to forcibly block the fangs of the giant spider earlier.

Even though it had not ended up injuring her, she could clearly feel how exhausted her body was after the battle.

At the very least, she was overjoyed at the discovery that the giant spider had given her a thousand experience. Although not comparable to cave alligator, she had a feeling that it was not because the giant spider was much weaker, but due to the fact that her strength had increased.

Roaar-!

Roar!

Rawwr~!

I have to get out of here for now…

Hearing the sound of all sorts of monsters echoing out in the distance, Scaly quickly calmed down and got ready to leave.

Chomp~!

However, just before leaving, she decided to taste test the giant spider to see if it was really as delicious as the description implied.

This- How does this thing taste like blueberry pie?!

In the end, she was left speechless at the sudden sweet and familiar blueberry taste that came from her biting into one of the giant spider's legs. Part of her starting to wonder if everyone tasted the same as she did or it was just her who tasted the blueberry cake when biting into the giant spider's leg-

Swish~

No matter what it was, she decided to bring one of the giant spider's legs along with her as she left the scene. Leaving the rest of the giant spider for the different monsters rushing towards it from all directions after hearing the earlier commotion…

[Level: 1/30, 90%]

To think my level didn't even increase after killing the giant spider…

Having found a small safe spot to recover from her earlier battle with the giant spider, Scaly suddenly realized that her level didn't increase after killing the giant spider. Making her once again realize just how much more difficult it had become for her to increase her strength after going through her second evolution.

At the same time, this realization also made her more determined to follow after the berserk cave troll and find a place with more powerful monsters so she could keep increasing her strength at the same level that she was used to.

Chomp~!

Well… That was for the future, for now she had to recover her strength and eat the giant spider leg she had brought along with her.

As a few hours passed, Scaly soon emerged from her small hiding spot as she began making her way towards the tunnel, she had seen the berserk cave troll disappear inside of just a few days earlier.

Even though she had no idea where the tunnel would lead her and just had a general idea that it would lead to somewhere with more powerful monsters, Scaly didn't hesitate in the slightest as she entered the tunnel the moment, she reached it. Soon finding herself in front of an all too familiar spiral staircase leading down into what looked like a pitch-black abyss.

"…"

Staring down the spiral staircase she had already encountered once before, Scaly didn't bother observing the other tunnels connecting to the small space that the staircase was located inside of before she began moving down the spiral staircase.

From her past encounter with a spiral staircase, she understood one thing about it… And that was the fact that stronger monsters could be found at the bottom of the staircase!

Fun fact, spider's do not have mandibles, but an external structure that works similar to mandibles called chelicerae.
