概要

Under a twist of fate, Aurus was struck by a bolt of lightning, making him realize that he would never have the chance to play the game he poured most of his time and effort into ever again. Fortunately, a goddess took pity on his miserable fate and gave him two choices: the first one was to reincarnate through the Six Paths of Reincarnation, and the second one…was to reincarnate as a stick. Hearing the second choice, Aurus could not help but remember...that this was exactly the starting character of the game he used to play! Without hesitation, Aurus chose the latter, bringing a smile to the goddess’ face…which seemed to contain secrets and desires hidden to the naked eye. And so, Aurus was reborn into a world that he was familiar with, albeit this time—he was now living a life as a stick! Though that may be the case, witness the adventures of Aurus as he turns the expectations of everyone around him upside down as he gradually returns to his previous heights… and perhaps, far beyond it! Witness the birth of a supreme being...from its roots! Note: Please understand that the beginning of this novel was written at a time where I didn't know a lot about pacing and other important stuff crucial in writing. Once you get past that point (around the midpoint of Volume 2), it gets better. I hope you enjoy reading! -------------------------- Check out my other novels: MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith

Chapter 1Prologue

In a certain location found in the vast space constituting the universe, one could find a part of it act as a separate dimension. This so-called dimension houses multiple beings that wield power on the levels of gods. Of course, that was because these beings are actual, living, breathing gods. It is only known by a singular name, which was the Celestial Plane. Within a certain part of this plane, one would find a floating white cube.

Inside this cube was a woman whose appearance and body could be said to have reached the pinnacle of beauty. It was if she was made out of finely chiselled marble, complimenting the white walls inside the cube. Her hair was pitch-black, mesmerizing like the void that constituted the majority of space. On the other hand, her irises and lips were of a crimson red hue, making anyone that looked at it feel like she was seducing them.

Then again, she wore a white dress which seemed to balance out those characteristics, radiating an aura that made her look like a radiant goddess of purity. However, she was no radiant goddess of purity at all, with her personality that could be summed up in one word, bipolar1.

There were times where she would act sweet and lovable, radiating an aura that made anyone want to rely on her. There were also times where she would indifferently torture living beings, either for pleasure, entertainment, or to stave off boredom. She would unhesitatingly put them in a living hell, ignoring the incessant curses that came out of the mouths of which she tortured.

Of course, there were also times where she would show both sides at once, putting living beings in a state of confusion, making one wonder which one was the real her. Taking her name into consideration, one would surely think that that personality quite suited her.

Her name was Kurohana, a being well known as the goddess that had superb control over the Law of Reincarnation.

At this moment, she was currently looking through a glass orb she had bought from somewhere, scanning through the nigh-infinite amount of living beings dotted throughout the whole universe. The reason as to why she was doing this was because she needed a suitable living being to become the main soul of her future masterwork weapon. A weapon that would allow her to wield power surpassing her peers of the same level.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

Just as she was swiping left to the next living being on her glass orb, the image that was being shown on the orb had transformed into darkness in an instant, with a few words appearing not long after.

"Hmm…? Lumina wants to call me?" Kurohana could not help but wonder as to why a goddess on the same level as her would call her at this time, seeing as the Celestial Plane was in a state of peace. Nevertheless, she accepted the request, the sight of a cute woman that looked like she was in her twenties appearing on Kurohana's orb soon after.

"Yoohoo~! It's been a while since I last saw you, Kurohana~" The energetic voice of Lumina started to resound from the orb, making Kurohana scratch her head as she replied soon after, "We met like a few hours ago in the Hall of Greater Divinity, Lumina. Anyways, what's the reason for calling me?"

"You know me very well, right~?" Lumina asked in response, before continuing, "I have a lot of connections throughout the Celestial Plane, especially the gods at the same level as us."

"Yeah, yeah, yeah," Kurohana replied in slight annoyance, waving her hand to and fro as she added, "Get to the point."

"Well, I've heard some rumors from the other gods that some low-level demons have been invading their private worlds. Just wanted to tell you that you should make sure that your world is free from demons, seeing as you're one of the best blacksmiths in the Celestial Plane," Lumina decided to not beat around the bush this time, getting straight to the point with a light smile on her face. "I also wanted to tell you that if you need help setting up protection from those demons, you should call me sometime. My control over the Law of Light is not something to scoff at, you know~"

"I'll keep that in mind," Kurohana responded after a few seconds of silence, ending the call between them abruptly without saying farewell. She then sat in silence for a while, pondering over Lumina's words as she softly muttered, "Since only low-level demons are attacking, for now, I shouldn't worry that much."

"Let's get back to searching a suitable soul for the main material of my magnum opus." After saying that, she went back to looking through a list of suitable living beings on her glass orb, eventually stopping on a certain living being with a slight grin on her face.

"Hoh? That kind of experience…will surely be invaluable."

"You'll be the one then."

Bang!

As if it was some sort of heavenly judgment, the house of a certain person was struck by a huge bolt of lightning, around twenty times as big as a normal bolt. Due to the size of the lightning bolt, it was a given that the house would be turned into charred bits and ashes…as well as the person who lived in it.

Whoosh!

A few seconds after the lightning strike, an incorporeal blob gradually manifested over the huge pile of ashes and charred bits, an aura of confusion radiating from it.

"What the heck happened?" At this moment, the incorporeal blob was still quite clueless as to what had happened, only realizing what had happened after looking at its surroundings.

"…" After looking at his house, which resembled a landscape bombarded with nukes, Aurus was at a loss for words. He also tried to look for his body, to which he had failed to do so. Eventually, Aurus let out a sigh muttering to himself, "Is this my punishment for playing ISE too much? If so, don't you think this is too much of an overkill, heaven?"

The acronym that Aurus had mentioned was the MMORPG he had poured most of his time and effort into for quite a great portion of his life, named Infinite Stick Evolution. Although the name of the game sounded quite grand, it had lived up to its name, allowing players to play with an individualistic style, with there being near-infinite possibilities. This was what drew Aurus into the world of ISE since the infinite possibilities of the game made him feel like he was the main character of the web novels he had read back then.

"If I knew that I was going to be punished, I would've tried to reach the existence level of Divinity far earlier," Aurus said to himself, slightly filled with regrets. "I wonder what's going to happen to me next?"

Just as he asked this question, an invisible vortex appeared a small distance away from Aurus, sucking Aurus in with a faint swoop sound. Although he did not know that he was sucked into a vortex, the feeling of something pushing and pulling on his body made him quite nauseated. This feeling also made him realize that something related to his body was happening, though he could not figure out what it was. Fortunately, that sensation only lasted a short time, with Aurus appearing in a place that was distant from where he was a few moments ago.

While calming down his senses after going through such a nauseating experience, Aurus could not help but steal a few glances at the surroundings, slightly shocked inside that everywhere he looked was pure white. The walls, the ceiling, the floor, hell even the girl in front of him was pure white.

Wait a second…a girl?

"Who are you?" Although he was quite confused as to where he was, seeing as there was a human in front of him, he could not help but become vigilant.

As for the girl in front of him, she could not help but lightly chuckle at Aurus' question, replying with a light smile, "I'm Kurohana, the Greater Goddess of Reincarnation. You're currently in my haven, this big white space you're currently looking at."

"Wait…what?" Hearing the girl's response, Aurus could not help but become confused. "You're the Greater Goddess of Reincarnation? And this white space thing is your haven?"

"Yep." Kurohana nodded in response.

"Am I dreaming or something? Is this death of mine a dream in disguise?" Realizing how farfetched his current situation was, Aurus could not help but mutter.

Fwoosh!

In an instant, an overbearing aura radiated from Kurohana, making Aurus feel like he was in an area where the only two beings that existed there were him and Kurohana. Not only that, the feeling of imminent death even radiated from her body, also making Aurus wonder as to what he had done wrong.

Fortunately, that only lasted for a short while as Kurohana asked, "Is this enough proof for you to realize you're not dreaming?"

"Y-yeah," Aurus hastily replied, slightly afraid of Kurohana.

Nonetheless, Aurus had no idea as to why he was brought here and so, mustering his courage, he asked her, "A-anyways, why did you bring me here?"

"I have brought you here to give you another shot at life," Kurohana replied to his question, before adding, "You have two choices to choose from."

Raising one finger, she continued, "The first choice is for you to be reborn through the six paths of reincarnation, which means that the chances of you becoming one of the six is equal. A celestial, an angel, a human, an animal, a ghost, or an asura, it's basically up to luck if you get reborn as a human again."

"What about the second choice?" Aurus could not help but ask, his opinion of the first choice being bad. Of course, if the second choice given to him was worse, then he'd pick the first one.

Raising another finger, she answered Aurus' question. "The second choice, although you won't be reborn as a human, you would have a way to become human. That is…"

"You would be reborn as a stick."

"…" Aurus was silent for a bit before responding, "Are you mocking me because I've been playing a game about sticks for a great portion of my life?"

"No, not at all," Kurohana shook her head with a smile. "To be honest, I think that it's quite nice, seeing your devotion towards one game makes me think you're a hard worker."

Obtaining a rare compliment from a goddess rather than an insult, Aurus' fear towards Kurohana slightly lessened as he looked at her in a slightly new perspective. Nevertheless, he had a question in mind related to the second choice.

"Say I choose the second choice. What can I do as a stick? Just hope to be swept away by the wind? If that's the case, how would I turn into a human?" Aurus asked her, to which Kurohana replied with, "And this is why I praised you for your devotion towards that game."

"I'll be giving you two bonuses if you choose the second choice. Both being related to the game you were playing," Kurohana added.

Hearing that there was a bonus if he chose the second choice, and not only was it one bonus but two, and those two bonuses were both related to ISE, Aurus could not help but ask, "May I ask what those two bonuses are?"

"The first bonus will allow you to live your life like you're playing the game," Kurohana replied with a light smile. "Since you've reached quite a high level in the game, you have an idea why I told you it will give you a way to become human, right?"

"Mm." Although Aurus just responded with a short grunt, he was quite eager to choose the second choice in his mind. Living his life like a game, that was just a dream come true for him!

"How about the second bonus?" he continued to ask, to which Kurohana replied with, "The second bonus is related to the speed of your improvement. Hmm…using the terms from the game you play…the experience you need to level up your skills will be halved…is that correct?"

"I CHOOSE THE SECOND CHOICE! I'VE DECIDED!" Aurus shouted without hesitation after hearing what the second bonus had in store for him. Although he would have chosen the second choice even with just the first bonus, he knew that with the second bonus, he would be able to get back to his previous standing at a faster speed…as well as live it out.

"I see." Kurohana nodded in response with a smile, before making a few gestures with both of her hands, glowing threads of formless energy appearing around Aurus' incorporeal blob not long after. These threads then transformed into a bubble that covered Aurus, the light they gave out gradually intensifying.

With the bubble of formless energy surrounding Aurus' body, Kurohana finished making gestures with her fingers before saying, "Well then. Let me congratulate you on being reborn as a stick. I also wish you the very best of luck!"

Whoosh! Whoosh!

Just before the bubble of formless energy radiated light that covered the whole inside of Kurohana's space, Aurus shouted out two words.

"Thank you!"

Whoosh!

Soon after saying that, the bubble of formless energy had disappeared from Kurohana's space. Any trace of Aurus being in her space was gone as well.

At this moment, Kurohana let out a sigh before snapping her fingers, conjuring a chair that she sat on soon after. Afterward, she willed the glass orb she was using a while ago to come close to her.

"Hehehe." As she gestured with her hands one more time, infusing a bit of energy towards the glass orb in front of her, a grin could be seen on her face.

"And with that, let's start the nurturing process, shall we?"

I must say(since everyone starts out thinking the same way with this novel due to the uniqueness of it), I didn't expect this novel to be as grand as it is becoming. It is truly a well thought out concept, and it wonderfully encompasses the idea of an isekai in the most rediculous and tasteful of fashions. Before I begin my review, my rating is completely accurate. When I started out reading, I was like... "What is this stick going to do, roll over its enemies? ", and behold, that was legit the first thing the MC did!! I was like, "Well, my expectations have been met. Add to favorites." Within 15 days, I got to current and I am excited for each new release. The character development for this novel is a bit confusing to get at first, but soon you will fall in love with the sayings and quirks of the characters. One might even begin to "ship sticks", and that thought is just freaking wild lol. Overall, you will love and hate certain characters at different times, and maybe even disagree with how the MC does certain things; however, this only adds to the reading experience, let me assure you. The story development is far from being a finished product, even at its current point(272). Even so, while some may see this story as slow, it is all leading to a larger, more grand and more defined picture. This novel, currently, is in Volume 4, so finding out there are story arcs... It blew my mind to think a "stick story" could get so far, AND IT'S NOT STOPPING! With consistent and daily updates, along with an author who listens to the comments and consistently improves upon the work as a whole, it is very encouraging to see a story and the world develop more and more, day by day. I have found myself laughing over certain scenarios, amazed by the world building and descriptions of locations, and even enticed by the battles between sticks lol. (trust me, rolling is just the start...) If you have the opportunity to get as far as me, I recommend joining the discord. It's one fun time in there, for sure. Tldr; if you enjoy a captivating and wild, but a completely unexpected story filled with adventure, looming danger, phenomenal character development, and modernized humor for those relief moments- - Please, check out this novel. You won't regret it :)

To be honest I'm only writing this review, that is likely to be lost in the sea of other reviews, because I don't see a lot of people actually reviewing the book. It was either people just going off on a tangent, labeling the their most frustrating scenes in the book, using a myriad of offensive words to describe it, or Just plain old white Knighting. There is also a large block of text dedicated to fans that are enjoying the book, which to be honest is pretty nice. At least I don't have to deal with a copiously long toxic comment with no constructive criticism to be seen. It also shows that a large portion of the community has some patience. Now (disclaimer!!!!!), I never really made it past the first 50 reviews. There are too many to read. Second (Disclaimer!!!), If someone is still reading this don't expect anything great I'm not a professional book reviewer. So to start off, this is a pretty interesting concept. Fairly original, and carves out it's own place in the reincarnation genre's inanimate object corner. The story "itself" is also well thought out. however the protrayel of the story isn't the "greatest". let me tell what I mean by that... The writer has this habit of telling and not showing. For the people who are not aware of what that means, I will describe it in a different way. When painting or drawing a picture for someone to see you usually flesh the image out give the picture depth and meaning in every stroke of the brush. I do not mean literally, like every square centimetre of paint has some kind of mystical meaning. It has meaning in the terms of portraying the depth of a video whilst it still being a still image. For example: shading, perspective, minute detail like pores on the skin or individual leaves on a tree. It gives the picture life. There is quite a bit of similarity between a painting and a book, in that they both try to describe a living scene, an entire world, on a still canvas. I'm sorry if my description still didn't help.😔 The point is the there is visible depth when you show, which isn't an effect you get when you tell. Telling is literally encapsulating the entirety of the scene in a couple of descriptive, but limited words. To show, is to describe the nuances of the scene, give the skeleton of the story flesh, describe what the author themselves see, to paint the picture in the readers' mind. As a writer you don't have to do this too often, you actually shouldn't. It's a device used when trying to really bring to life an important scene. However there is a difference between just right and too little. The entirety of that block of probably unnecessary text is me just saying the author's writing itself lacks depth. Not the story, just the writing. I think this is my last point. This is just my opinion on this one but, I feel like there is too much info dump, or the info dump is just not spaced out well enough, or the info dump just doesn't have any life. The last one might be on purpose seeing as it is just the characters grinding skills. Either way the writing isn't particularly well paced when around 60%(Not an exact meausrement) of 4+ chapters (Also not an exact measurement) straight is dedicated to an info dump. 🤔 But again this easily remedied if you just give the info dump more meaning and life, I think... 🤨 But who Am I to judge, I could just be spouting nonsense... Which makes this an immense waste of a morning that could have been spent watching Gawr Gura read Konosuba. Ah whatever, I enjoy the world the Author is trying to portray and I hope they continue to evolve the writing and the story.

Dunno how i got so far. Anyway 1st few chapter wallbreaking is ultra retarded - RETARDED The system apparently has a lot of options and they are only visible when MC DECIDES TO ENABLE THEM, and he only does so when he feels like or "he remembered"... As story progresses he keeps enabling more options that display rank and some other shit. why not enable everything? - pretty retarded MC is hunting sticks nonstop. All of a sudden 2 sticks appear, guess what MC does? HE SPEAKS TO THEM "Who are you?" LIKE WTF? DUDE u have been hunting sticks nonstop for so long and all of a sudden YOU FUCKIGN randomly decide to talk to them? (Reason he talked was because of the plot, he obv needed to talk to them...) - Retarded MC has like 10-20 skills. Right before "dying" HE REMEMBERED he had an OP skill that transforms all dmg taken to 1 hp. Yeah... he just remembered at the crucial time, and guess what, all the other skills were explained, but when this1 was mentioned, we never got to see what it does, and behold a couple of chapters later, HE REMEMBERS it and uses it in a crucial moment and readers go "WOOW, HE HAD SUCH A SKILL" well done author, that was retarded suspense. - RETARDED MC sees an S grade (that should have -500 ish hp, but apparently still had a couple of hp somehow left) stick being killed by a stronger stick and he goes "w-w-w-who are you?" ... - RETARDED MC meet Hiersomething, 10 minutes later blabs his secrets to her, how he is reincarnated etc - RETARDED When MC decides to blabber his secret about being blessed by the goddess, mc asks the question back and then MC SAYS- "Lets say our answers at the same time" LIKE FUCKING little kids, god i cringed so hard while reading that. MC has major brain problems, constantly forgetting stuff, making irrational choices. The goddess brainfucking and changing things however she likes doesn't help the plot or the MC, he is retarded and stays retarded for as long as i have read - RETARDED MC fights in a trial, 1st trial-10 rounds, half the them finished in one shot, the other half is explained as them all attacking using this and that, MC dodges! Use abilities and beats them. blah blah blah. 1st trial finished in 4 HOURS! 4 HOURS? THAT was maximum 30min. Apparently somewhere it was explained that sticks fight at a slower pace, but when the fights happen u CANT fucking tell that, fights are explained as all enemies can attack MC at the same time which means they are close or can move closer fast. anyway, it took 4hours apparently, insanity. -RETARDED INHERITANCE obtained, MC has a full room of skills to BROWSE THROUGH, what does he do? takes the 2 skills he was there for originally and HE EXITS THE INHERITANCE and goes with the leader back to the alliance. EVEN THOUGH THERE WERE WHO KNOWS HOW MANY GOOD SKILLS. AAAND DOESN'T GO back there for a LONG time, and when he DOES, its again to LOOK FOR SPECIFIC SKILLS, he doesnt fucking look at all the skills and think if they are usefull, HE DOESNT even pick the passive skills that he shouldnt even worry about -RETARDED From now on i guess spoiler warning? MC gets a skill fusion option from his system. STILL DOESNT GO TO INHERITANCE TO LEARN ALL THE SKILLS AND FUSE AND FUSE THEM FOR OP RESULTS. - RETARDED Oh right MC makes a clone. Makes it look like his old life... (yeah, he made him look the same as how he was instead of making him more handsome, or ANYTHING. EXCEPT. He increased his "drill" size. . . Yeah, author called his dick a drill and some other retarded name, my brain thankfully decided to erase at least 1 of them from my brain... But yeah, gotta increase dicks size but the rest stays the same. I mean how fucking boring is that, when u get a new life why tf would u want to look the same as you did., then again compared to all the other shit this is more just in my opinion. The big fight against the wolf stick. Oh god, it was written so badly, so cringe. the tactics so cringe, i couldn't bear to read them so i was skipping and skimming chapters. Dropped it at the point MC was showing off his awesomeness to EVERYONE around, yeah that's supposed to be the "climax", but to me it was just retarded because of the way that everything led to him needing to show off or the alliance gets destroyed... Oh right, shitton of chapters about goddess and some random mages POV too, for now 170ish chapters they got almost nothing to do with MC. Just the goddess apparently influencing the retarded MC do things she wants him to do, yeah making MC even more retarded. Conclusion? Retarded novel. Did i still read it like a sucker? Yea i did. If you don't care about logic, or having a not Retarded mc whose brain is also getting ****ed by a goddess to make him even more retarded, then you might be able to enjoy this (reincarnation, system, op, prior knowledge to secrets).

This is definitely an unusual story, but it does have a pretty amusing start. Honestly, it's easy to have a lot of fun starting this novel and going along for the ride until about 1/4th of the way into the story. Silly as it is, you can see a lot of effort was put into the "System" and it can be fun to watch his growth at the start. There are a lot of 4th wall breaks, but this is really only at the beginning and this (mostly) stops after the 5th chapter or so. The story starts off pretty good but slowly gets worse as time goes on. As the title might imply, the MC is reincarnated as a stick. Which is funny at first, but stops being funny later and the story honestly doesn't have a lot to fall back on. The MC himself is kinda bland a lot of the time, and the other characters he interacts with are usually just as bad. The first recurring character he meets is introduced in a somewhat forced way and just decides to tag along with him regardless of how he feels. Aside from her initial meeting, she's not THAT bad, but isn't anything special personality-wise. The other characters he meets, end up disappearing and taking a backseat 80% of the time. When they do appear, they're pretty forgettable. Speaking of forgetting, the MC does this...a LOT. He ends up forgetting many things and sometimes making the most ridiculous errors anyone with common sense would notice. It's implied the villain is behind this, but it's hard to tell where the villain's manipulation starts and his own ignorance begins. If it is the villain's doing it is somewhat poorly explained and repeated way too often. While we're on the topic of antagonists, this story handles them even worse than their MC. The wizard wants to capture him and use him to make a weapon! ...Until he doesn't. Yeah, he ends up never meeting the MC, using something else, and it works out fine. All that buildup and background went nowhere. Until a wolf notices the MC and wants to use him to make himself stronger! ...Until he doesn't. Yep, antagonist ends up never meeting the MC when looking for him, uses something else, and it works out fine. But we can't forget the main villain who wants to turn the MC into a weapon... Wow, what exciting and compelling antagonists with such DIFFERING goals. Tldr: You might enjoy this story if it's not too silly for you. Read it about 1/4th of the way, then drop it while you still have any good memories of it.
