Ch. 20 Let's talk about Marriage.

After the incident, Lockhart was under scrutiny and the person who was most upset was Snape.

Lockhart tried to reduce the damage that has been caused by his failure. His reputation really dipped quite a bit so to combat that he literally stripped any demonstrations evolving any creature and just stuck to his stories about how he defeated banshees and whatnots.

But there were still some people who believed in his accomplishment namely the majority of the girls in the school. While everything seemed normal on the surface but in actuality, it was not I have been hearing the faint voice of a murderous snake.

I was sitting at the study group table with the group. From the previous year, the study group has now again expanded. Astoria, Luna and Ginny also joined the group kind of. Well, Ginny was there to hang out sometime.

I was sitting there in the library with the group and I was in deep thought about the basilisk as to what to do with it? Should I kill it? Should I enslave it? I mean it can come in handy but it also poses a huge risk.

Not to mention when it starts attacking students pretty much everyone will think that it could either be me or Harry.

But in case they were to assume that it was me I can benefit from it. I can take some political power away from Fudge. I have some info about how some of the dept. aren't happy with Fudge, particularly the DMLE.

They are underpaid, most of the talented people can't get in because of internal politics and how Fudge is breathing down their neck and is looking for every excuse to fire people.

So was I happy if I am under speculation? No, I am euphoric.

"What is he doing?" Ginny asked Hermione.

Hermione looked at me who was staring into the void and smiling looking like a complete idiot she sighed and said: "He is in deep thought, he always does that, don't worry you will get used to it."

Victoria said, "Did you know Draco is the new Seeker?"

It broke me from my train of thought I said "Come again?" It was surprising I didn't think that it was about to happen. I guess we are going to win another Quidditch Cup.

I said, "Let's see how does Clorox do in his first match."

Ginny said, "I hope he losses his teeth." Everyone laughed except Hermione.

Victoria asked Hermione "What is wrong? Hermione, you feel down what happened?"

Hermione sighed and asked me, "Why is it that....you never get angry when Draco calls you Mudblood?" She had anger in her eyes.

I looked in her eyes and said "Because I don't give a shit what anyone says about me. I only care as to what my friends think of me...Well, most of you guys but especially..."

Everyone looked at me and Victoria and Victoria had a blush and I said "I on a regular basis get death treats and is most widely known as the new dark lord. Were every I go people have this fake smile on their face but the eyes are full of hate. "

Hermione, Ginny, Astoria, Olivia and Luna looked awkward when I said that but my Freinds looked pissed, cause almost everyone else Daphne, Victoria, Ted and me have been through that exact same thing Daphne and Victoria to be Great Witches because of their families they were from and Ted and me to be the new Death Eaters.

I then looked at everyone in the room and said, "I am going to give you a piece of advice that is something I personally connect and I say this to everyone 'The disapproval of cowards is praise to the brave'. Stop living your lives that has been dictated by society or anyone else. Do what you want to do because life is short. And don't spend your time wasting what others think of you. It is not worth it. "

My little speech may not have any impact on anyone but even if it impacts one person it is enough for me. After my speech, it may have been an awkward situation but it forced everyone to think about it and that is enough.

A loud crashing noise was heard and I said, "Damn, what is it that is missing from this? I have tried everything and I still can't do it?"

The rune was still not working, it still has jitters, the supply of power is not stable. I am running out of ways to make this work. I need to take some time off from this project.

I existed the ROR and went towards the common room I was stressed out about the rune project. I entered the common room and saw Daphne on the sofa, she was reading something and she is not usually there at these hours.

I asked, "What are you doing?"

Daphne looked up and continued reading and said "I am here because Victoria and Olivia are studying in the room and I didn't want to disturb them."

I sat down next to her and she shifted and I glanced at her book and She asked "What do you want?"

I said, "Nothing I was just wondering can you help me?"

She puts the book down and asks, "What is it that you want my help with?"

I said "I don't know I just want you to help me to get my mind off of my project"

She rolled her eyes and asks "How is it that I can help you with that?"

I said "That is something that I don't know. Maybe we can just talk and that can help."

She asked, "Then you can ask Victoria for that."

I said, "I would have but she is now helping Olivia and I would like to know you better."

She asked, "Why would I do that?"

I summoned some nighttime tea. and said, "Because you owe me one." I poured us a cup and continued "So How is Astoria at home?"

She sighed and took the tea and said "She is much more upbeat. She loves to play with that Tamagotchi. She is obsessed with it she even got in trouble with mom for that. She made her leave that thing at home. She was not happy."

I asked, "Why what happened?"

Daphne smiled and said "It was not even a week in with that thing she was getting used to it she would take it everywhere. She would walk it, feed it and bathe it." But suddenly at the end, she had a sad smile on her face.

I asked, "Isn't that what are you supposed to do?"

She said, "She is not as strong as normal kinds Jon all the running and everything is not that good for her. I convinced her to pawn that thing for the Diskman you gave me."

I gave a warm smile and asked "You must really love her. I do to I see her as my sister as well. She calls me Brother and always comes to me with all her troubles with homework and everything."

Daphne looked at me and said "So that is why she doesn't ask for my help with homework now because she got her brother to do her homework for her. Tell me does she gives you puppy eyes and says 'Please Brother Jon I don't understand this help me please' "

I said, "First off I don't do her homework and secondly yes she pulls that exact same trick every time and I can't say no to her."

She gave a smile and said, "You have to stop spoiling her."

I sighed and said, "I know but she is a person who gives me a sense of family."

She asks "Can I ask a question about your family then?"

I said, "I don't have much to call family but go ahead."

She asked, "Father gave me the inheritance list of yours but it doesn't have mention of who your father is why is that?"

I said, "*sigh* Because even if I told you who my father is you are not going to find much about him nobody does. It is like he never existed in the first place."

She said "I...am sorry"

I said "Don't be sorry. I have a family it is just me and Cotton"

She asks "She is family to you?"

I said, "Yeah, she is family to me. I don't know if you noticed but I crave affection from anyone who can give it. That is why I think Astoria is my sister."

She said, "Must be tough to be alone all the time."

I said, "It is but you learn to live with it." I then placed my hand on Daphne's and asked "You want to talk about the marriage?"

She looked surprised and I continued "Don't look so surprised. I knew that Florian would tell you as soon as I said yes. But you did a good job hiding it."

She sighed and turned to me and asked "What are you going to do?"

I said, "I don't know *sigh* what I know is that I am going to tell her about everything and after that, I can just hope for the best."

She asked, "What if she leaves you or hates you?"

I said, "Then I have to accept that but what I know for sure is that everything is going to be fine."

She asked, "How can you be so sure?"

I looked into her eyes and said "Because I know that all things change with time and I promise even if Victoria doesn't love me back after she knows about us. I will still honour you Daphne because that is the promise that I have made to Florian."

She looked at me and said "Florian?"

I said "What? He told me to call him Dad or Florian." We both laughed and I said, "Everything is going to be fine Daphne."

someone was standing in the corridor which lead to the girl's common room and she was looking at me and Daphne and wondered What are they talking about? and then she saw me and Daphne getting closer and me trying to comfort her and not being able to bear it she left in anger.

(In Jon's room)

I was laying on my bed "Are you sure father it was the right decision?" Cotton asked

I said "I think it was either I come forward now or she tells Victoria. In the second case I at least get to tell her in a situation she can understand and accept what is going to happen."

Cotton asked "When you said that you are going to honour Daphne. Did you mean it?"

I said, "A hundred per cent. But I won't let Victoria go."

Cotton said, "I don't think you get to decide that father."

I said "I know but...I would like to make her see it differently."

Cotton asked, "When are you going to tell Victoria?"

I said, "I don't know on one hand I would like to tell her now so that Damage is little as possible but on the other, I am afraid to lose her."

Cotton said, "Well, all of this is your doing."

I said, "Yeah, I know."
