When I woke up as a baby, I have to be frank and say I freaked out... Severely. Even now, after 15 years, I still remember that day as a nightmare.
Don't get me wrong. I'm happy to have been reborn after what I vaguely remember was a gruesome death. I'm still unsure what exactly happened, and I can barely remember who I was before. The memory starting to fade with time. I do remember being badly hurt.
I panicked a bit when I realized I was forgetting my past life, my identity... But in the end I rolled with it. I think it has to do with the fact that from what I can remember, my life was sad. I had no memory of friends, or family. I may have forgotten them at the moment of my reincarnation, but I think I just didn't have any.
So with that said and done, I decided to embrace this new chance.
My problem at the time ? Despite my VERY poor vision, I could see that some adults had bat like wings, were wearing some kind of Victorian era clothing and there was proof of the world being relatively modern (We were in a hospital).
My first thought ? I'm a baby in a vampire clan who's going to be drained as a snack. That opinion changed quickly when I finally could think clearly. But the problem was not that I was stupid, no. The problem were the sounds, the feelings, the lights. Every thing was just too much. It was headache inducing.
And while I could guess forms, the sounds were just a no go. So I lived in fear for a few days before I realised I was part of the family. I know I should have realized it sooner but at the time there was just too much stuff happening.
In the end, I found out who I was, who these people were, where I was, and more specifically, which universe I was in.
