Chapter 1Chapter 1 A Totally Normal Birthday

Kat quickly got up, glancing slightly over to her desk searching for her clock. *5:30, ok I have time.* Sitting up and walking through her sparsely populated bedroom to the closet she picked out a clean version of her school uniform before sneaking down the hallway. Careful not to wake the other children, she snuck into the shower.

*Ok, quick shower before waking the others and then try to catch the old man making breakfast for everyone for once. The old codger never lets us thank him.*

A short five minutes later, a still drying Kat glances at herself in the mirror, barely out of frame due to her slightly tall build and considering the bathroom had been designed for children much younger than her, she was lucky she could see herself at all. Her startling red hair draped just past her shoulders as she found a hairband to tie it up. Quickly fixing the rest of her appearance she walked outside returning her pyjamas to her room before bracing herself.

*Time to wake the kids I guess, at least it isn't my responsibility anymore to make sure they stay up.* Knocking on the sets of doors, she ran down the hall yelling

"Breakfast, get up now while it's hot or miss out, you all have to be showered and ready for school". Reaching the end of the corridor Kat slowed down to tackle the stairs still taking them decently quickly before repeating her act through the ground floor hallway.

*Ok hopefully that's all the kids, let's see if I can catch the old man.* Turning back towards the stairs Kat noticed that Sylvie was already awake and clearly waiting for her. A tiny blonde haired girl waited by the dining hall door in her nightgown. Sylvie was nine years old, about average for the orphanage kids if you discounted Kat and the old man but for some reason, she had taken a particular liking to her, making sure to wake up in time to eat breakfast together. *At least she is easy to get up in the morning, unlike some of the others.* Walking past and grabbing Sylvie's hand they walked together into the Dining room.

The pair walked into a huge room with three large tables, two across the middle of the room and one against the wall containing what would be the children's breakfast. A veritable feast was laid out, but no sign of the old man could be found. *That scoundrel, I even woke up early because it's my birthday and I still couldn't catch him. Would it kill him to accept a little thanks from us?*

"Come on Sylvie let's grab our food, don't want the others to take the good stuff" Kat said.

The little girl just nodded slightly. Kat sighed, *I really wish Sylvie spoke a bit more, I don't think she has any issues with the others, but I worry about her some times.* Quickly filling herself two plates of food she found a seat on the edge with Sylvie before the sound of feet could be heard echoing down the hallway. And here comes the rest of them. A mess of around twenty kids burst through the door and straight over to the food, with three older looking ones following behind.

*Those three… is it really that hard to keep the little ones in line, you're supposed to keep the kids calm before handing food out to them all. I did it by myself for years and they can't even make half an attempt with three of them. At least Gramps would set them straight if it ever really became a problem like someone not getting enough food but come on guys you're teens now, put in some effort.* Contrary to Kat's internal musing she simply sat quietly and ate her meal with Sylvie, they were a strange bastion of calm amidst the rowdy group, seemingly paying it no mind.

Finishing the food and washing off her own plate as well as Sylvie's, Kat began walking back upstairs to grab her bag and head towards school when she felt a slight tugging on her skirt. Turning back she saw Sylvie looking up at her with big eyes.

"Um, um I couldn't get you anything but, um happy birthday Kat, thanks for always having breakfast with me" Sylvie said.

Bending down and giving the girl a quick hug Kat replied "Anytime, come and find me anytime" before straitening up and heading back upstairs.

Quickly running upstairs and grabbing her pens and schoolbooks Kat started heading for the front door. *Do I go looking for Gramps before I leave? Nah, he's probably hiding away somewhere. I doubt I'll find him unless he wanted to be found and I have no plans to be late for school.* And so Kat took off, heading for the centre of her small town.

An hour later Kat found herself staring up at All Saints regional school, a rather strange name for the somewhat unique position the school had found itself in. It was a public school despite being privately owned and the only school in the town, in fact many believe the school to be older than the town itself. Despite this, it was impeccably maintained regularly gaining new buildings and retiring older ones as needed. Despite the school's central nature it owned a good chunk of the land around it and never failed to expand when necessary.

Walking off towards the area where all the senior classes are held on the far side of campus Kat stopped to go rummaging through her locker when she heard three voices laughing. *Welp, I guess it's that time of the week again. Looks like dumb, dumber and bore are on their way.* Quickly sliding into her locker and shutting the door she waited with boredom as the voices stopped in front of the locker.

"Oh, girls look, we can't have our dear friend Katarina's locker unlocked. Who knows what they could do, and look the lock has been left out how convenient" said one of the voices.

*Yeah yeah, play it up come on I have things to do.* The lock snapped shut with a clank and the three proceeded to continue down the hall. *And now we just send off a quick text to Lily… Kat pulled out her old Nokia phone and hit send. And now, we wait. I do wish there was a bit more room in here so I could sit down, aw well.*

After a short wait a small figure appeared outside and began fiddling with the lock, and then it was but a moment before the door swung open to reveal a short wiry girl. She had a mess of brown hair cut short but still covering her eyes if not for the glasses she had on.

"Thanks Lily, you're a lifesaver" Kat said stepping out of the locker

"Why do you keep letting them do this Kat? You can stand up to those three I know you can." said Lily

"Yeah but it's not that bad really, and we have an understanding, they can pull small pranks and I'll just let it go, we all know the bottom line here Lily" Kat replied.

"It's not right though, this is the second time this month they pulled the locker stunt."

"And you are always there to get me out so it's fine-"

"Well what about the time they threw water on you, you were soaked."

"It was the middle of summer it took like five minutes to dry and it was just before PE I didn't even need to keep the clothes on."

Lily seemed to struggle at that,

"I just, you helped me when they were after me instead, why won't you do something to help yourself or let me help you." Lily said quietly

"It's fine Lily, no one gets hurt when they go after me, I don't care, and they get to feel better about themselves" Kat smiled down at the smaller girl but she didn't seem convinced *It really is fine, they know their words do nothing to me and that if things got too rampant I'd sort the lot of them out myself. I don't need them going after Lily again. I just wish she could understand that I'm not just doing this for her, I really don't mind.* The pair stopped talking as they neared the classroom, giving a brief nod to each other they stepped inside and sat down.

Hellbound Heart

[WARNING: MATURE CONTENT] - Izabelle had underestimated the fire she thought she was going to play with tonight. But how could she ever have foreseen that the man she had happened to come across with does not play with just a small fire, but a whole inferno? ___ Excerpt: "You going through this marriage with me might as well be like you digging your own grave. Because the moment you start to want more from me, I will divorce you. And the moment you break your promise and try to fight me… I will ruin you and break you apart completely. Mercilessly. You will regret ever meeting this devil tonight." His threat was given in the same soft but cold voice. But Elle did not even flinch. Her gaze never faltered either. This man was ruthless, and she knew that clearly. His eyes that moment promised nightmares and darkness without any promise of respite. But no matter what he says now, it would still not change her decision. She truly had no other choice. "I understand now…" she said quietly, steeling herself. "Since you don't trust that I will keep my word, how about we do this? You prepare the divorce documents beforehand now and I'll sign it. That way, once you decide to divorce me in the future, the papers would already have been signed and there would be no way I can trouble you about it. You would just need to send it to the lawyers and have it notarized." A heavy silence reigned before his quiet disbelieving laugh broke the silence. "I'm at a loss for words, Princess Izabelle." He looked wickedly amused. But then he started nodding in approval. "Fine, princess. I will marry you." ___ Instagram account: kazzenlx.x facebook page: author_kazzenlx Discord server: https://discord.gg/UGTA3A4 Cover is mine so don't use it. Will Zara fight the dangers that await or embrace her true destiny? **EXCERPT** "I... didn't want to be late for work. You seemed busy, so I thought I'd get a head start." Snow raised an eyebrow. "Really? Or is it because last night affected you so much that you couldn't stand being around me?" "Don't flatter yourself, Snow. You didn't affect me at all." He smirked, stepping closer. "Is that so?" His fingers brushed my chin, tilting my face up. My pulse quickened. "We're at work," I snapped, swatting his hand away. "This isn't professional." "You're my wife," he murmured. "You're supposed to obey me at all times." I bit back a retort, a hint of rebellion flaring within. Slowly, I stepped closer, letting my fingers graze his chest. His smirk wavered for a second when his wolf reacted and Snow bit his lips. "Careful, Boss," I purred seductively. "Don't hurt those lips. I'm sure plenty of girls would love to kiss them." Snow leaned down, his lips brushing my ear. "And you? Are you dying for a taste?" Caught off guard, I hesitated, then regained my composure as I looked him in the eyes. "Unlike other girls, I have strong resistance against—" I didn't get a chance to finish when Snow's lips crashed onto mine with a fierce kiss that left me breathless. *************** MATURE CONTENT Participating in the Viral Book Call Contest. I personally love this story. The thing that pains me the most to say is that, despite being able to easily overlook the constant grammar mistakes, I can't overlook the pacing. It started out really nice, but as the story goes on it grows to be too slow. The world building is amazing and it gives plenty of personality to each world. Especially as she revisits them, however this is also my biggest quip with it. Each mission feels super drawn out and personally I enjoy the shenanigans from earth and the hub more. The punishment arc was probably the most captivating part of the story for me. The rest of the missions outside of the first few just made me want to skip them in their entirety. Overall it's great just wanted to say this first. Now, my favorite part of the book is Kat's personality and her interactions with those around her. As someone who feels the same with sexuality as Kat and is equally as dense, I love the representation and personally feel that you hit the nail on the head. My girlfriend and I have an eerily similar dynamic to Kat and Lily. While I would love to see everything develop just a bit faster I do see how the pace is perfect for a well written novel on that front and I am just impatient. The friendship between Kat and Sue is well written as well, it is clearly shown in daily life how the friends around you have an impact on what you're comfortable with. Sue for example making so many sexual jokes and Kat reciprocating them just shows how certain situations have an effect even on asexual people such as myself. There's more i would say but it's overall just an amazing book with plenty of ups and downs. It shows the characters feelings clearly and is an overall great read. Would definitely recommend if anyone is just looking for a good book.

Really nice story, especially the premise and general idea. I like the multiple and regular mini arcs with the summonings and with her life on earth in the center. I'm also very curious about what the MC will further learn about her race and abilities. Slight problems are: (I'm still at around chapter 100 so it's definitely possible that these only apply early on, MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD) 1. Some minor grammar issues (especially there/their/they're switch up very frequently.) 2. Lacking seriousness and over the top comedy efforts. What I mean by that is the lack of serious attitudes. The most mild of those is the MC just taking her transformation with nothing much more than calm acceptance. More importantly though is the lack of response towards serious danger, pain and stakes. In several of her summons she faces serious risk of getting hurt or even dying. At one point she even takes injuries that would be crippling to any normal human. All this and MC just shrugs it off and treats it like any other day. No reaction whatsoever. The same applies to stuff that could potentially put several other people at risk and still there is no real genuine reaction even if it could cause people harm either physically or 'just' to their livelihood. To top that off, since this is a comedy, the seriousness of all these situations doesn't just get ignored they are even made fun of. Comdedy to me (at least in this type of novel) should never exceed certain boundaries and there is always a time to joke and a time not to. And in this one it's very often exceeding that boundary. 3. Often times unbelievable characters. This is mostly seen in the characters on earth. Besides the MC there is Gramps, Sylvie, Lily, Vivian and Callisto (also Chekov). Every single one of them is an extremely rare type of character, which seem impossible to exist in so close proximity. And without exception no one has any problem with MC being/transforming into a demon. Not a single shred of conflict because of it. And on top of that, it seems all of them have at least something special. I get that characters should be distinguishable but it just seems implausible/convenient that everyone MC meets is like that. Do note that despite the majority of that being critique it's still a very enjoyable read.

I actually like this story. The worlds and settings are pretty fantastic as well as the lore development. There are quite a few things I like, However there are also a few things that rub me the wrong way. I feel the MC is a bit bland. She never really reacts to anything in a noteworthy manner even though her entire world is thrown for a loop. I mean, suddenly grow a tail? Yup, just roll with it. Find yourself in a sea of flame and then appear in front of someone without knowing why? Yup, just roll with it. It's too much of a "come way may" attitude where it begins to detract from her depth as a person. It also seems that the author may have a dislike of men in general. The only good male character is mainly only mentioned as reference as the person who ran the orphanage or one craftsman that's kind of cool. That's it. The rest are crass, fools, buffoons, etc.. Not that I care much because we all have our biases, but if this kind of thing sets you off then take note. Almost ALL the characters are female. For the good parts I think the overall character development and progress of the other characters is fairly nice. The story does go a bit slow on some parts but I think the author manages to balance the speed of combat with the slowness of everyday life fairly well. Sure, there would be a lot of things I would do differently in various situations but it's interesting to see the MC make the mistakes and have to work harder for them even though it doesn't really add to her depth of character. The supporting characters are pretty fantastic, although as a father of a 10y/o, Sylvie is WAY OP for her age. OVERALL its a good story if you can deal with some seemingly almost anti-male undertones. Since the story is good, it's not bad enough for me to really care.
