chapter 31

Jedi library

Waneta was currently looking over as much information that she can, secretly copying down everything that would be valuable to Terra.

The Jedi library was basically a jackpot for those looking for any information about the galaxy and she had almost full access to it. Of course some information was kept hidden, but all the other information would take decades to fully understand and read about.

Waneta had been doing this for years ever since she became a Jedi and had only scratched the surface on the knowledge that the Jedi held. She had came here so much that others gave no mind when she walked in and only thought she was either a book worm or just liked learning.

But none of them knew her real reason was to gain knowledge about their galaxy that even she barley knew. Once she felt like it was the time. She was going to leave the republic and give every piece of information to the Terrans.

With the sanghelios in the war. It would only be a matter of time until the republic was overpowered. If they played their cards right the war with the republic will be a quick and easy war for them. The only real thing the republic had was the number of men they had.

After a few minutes of copying down information she quickly hides everything, as a figure slowly approaches her as she pretends to be busy looking at the hologram she was already looking at.

As the figure stands in front of her, Waneta looks up to see Ashoka looking at her with a small smile.

"After all these years you still keep yourself sane up in here. I could only do this for a couple of days before boredom overtakes me." Ashoka says.

"Well unlike you I kind of enjoy doing this. You never know. Learning a thing or two might save your life one day." Waneta says tapping a finger to her head.

"You are starting to sound more like Obi-wan now. You sure he isn't rubbing off of you?"

"I could say the same to you. I always hear something about you and your master doing something risky or creating chaos somewhere. Sometimes even both. Have anything to say about that?" Waneta says raising a brow at her.

Ashoka looks away acting innocent. "I don't know what your are talking about.

"Whatever you say." Waneta says looking back at the hologram.

After a few seconds of silent Ahsoka speaks again. "Waneta I came to get your opinion on something. It's been bugging me for a while." Ahsoka says as her voice gets serious causing Waneta to get her full attention.

"What is your opinion of this war so far. With the Terran republic I mean." Ahsoka says.

"Where did this question come from?" Waneta says confused hearing this question out of nowhere.

Ahsoka goes quiet as she seems to be picking the right words to describe what she wanted to hear from Waneta.

"Do you think...do you think this war with them was a mistake." She finally says bringing her voice down a little.

Waneta looks at her for a few seconds before Ashoka seems to slowly back up. Before she can back up any further Waneta quickly grabs her hand.

"I'll answer your question, but this isn't the right place to be answering these types of question at." Waneta says.

"Come on I'll answer your questions in my quarters where no one can hear us and keep us from prying eyes." She says pulling Ahsoka hands guiding her towards her quarters.

After a few minutes of walking down hallways they finally make it towards Waneta's room before they enter in. Once the both of them get situated they begin to talk again.

"Where exactly did this question come from?"

"Well on my trip to Zeridian me and Senator Amidala meet this representative for the terrans.  Ever since that meeting I feel like I've been in a struggle to see this bigger picture he was talking about." She says.

"Do you know the name of this person?" Waneta questions.

"I think his name was Micheal. He was the one I guess you could say altered my view of this war a little."

Waneta only response to this was to only nod as she stares off into space before focusing.

"Well to answer your question from earlier. I don't think we can win this war." She says catching Ahsoka by surprise. Before Ahsoka is able to respond Waneta speaks before her.

"Think about it. We may be able to be on equal terms with them on the ground, but in the air or space we will stand no chance against them. Not to mention the new species that we found on Geonosis."

"If it's true that they are from a different galaxy. We are going to be up against a galaxy that may be unified while ours is currently in a war with each other."

Ahsoka goes quiet for a few seconds before she speaks. "But we can't just turn our backs on the republic. Any further talks of peace with them will be gone for a while. What exactly do you want us to do?" She says uncertain.

"Run away." Waneta says as Ahsoka gasps.

"Waneta we can't do that. Our allegiance is to the republic and that would also mean we are running from the Jedi order. That can't be an option." Ahsoka says surprised Waneta would even say something like that.

"And what. Dying is? Ahsoka I think this is what he meant by looking at the bigger picture. We don't stand a chance against them." Waneta says as she slightly narrows her eyes at Ahsoka.

"You seen what their navy did to your fleet firsthand. Do you really think we can beat that?" She says as Ahsoka looks down.

"What other choice do we have." Ashoka says whispering to herself.

Waneta softly sighs before taking one of Ahsoka hands in her's.

"Ahsoka promise me something...promise me when I'm gone. You'll-" Waneta begins before getting interrupted by Ahsoka's shout.

"No! Why would you say something like that! Nothing will happen to you. You have-"

"Ahsoka! Please." Waneta shouts desperate. Ahsoka seeing how serious she is nods her head slowly not liking where this is going.

"Promise me you'll leave or at least protect yourself more when I'm gone." She says holding her hands a little tighter.

"By gone...do you mean..."Ahsoka says letting the sentence hang in the air for a while as Waneta looks down quiet for a while also.

After a few seconds she looks up ready to speak. "Yes. If I die you'll do these things for me. That is my final wish from you if that happens." Waneta says.

"Then I better make sure that wish from you can't go in motion." She says trying to light the mood which she thinks works since a smile on Waneta's face appear.

But the smile she had on was a fake smile of pity for her. She wanted her to leave whether it be by her death or because of her escape from the republic and the order. Ahsoka was her only true friend and wanted her out of the reach from the claws of death. If she died, she would blame only herself for her death for not changing her view in time to see that their fight was against the terrans was going to be for nothing.

Tatooine

Daily life on Tatooine was the same for most people living there. It was a harsh and desert like planet. Some had a life that was good while others struggled to support themselves. There was mostly no middle ground in this and if someone was they were either going to go up the ladder or fall down never to recover from it.

But for those that were in a higher position were getting a preview of a death they might also get. News of crime lords being killed was being heard everywhere. This wasn't the first time something like this had happened, but not to this degree.

The crime lord Jabba The Hutt was panicking over the sudden deaths of his fellow hutts. Be it by assassinations or incidents that he knew were made on purpose.

He didn't know who the person was doing this, but he had an idea that the terrans was doing this, which made him angry. The person doing these killings would just disappear as if this whole thing never happened. Not to mention no one had seen what the person looked like. It was as if he was a ghost picking off his targets one by one never to be seen.

No one had once made an attempt to stop Jabba because of his influence in the economy. If he fell than the economy would collapse for most of the galaxy. He knew this which was why he was going to tell the Jedi of these incidents.

They would have no choice but to help him or suffer the consequences if they failed. These consequences may not affect them directly, but the lives of others will suffer greatly if they fail to protect him.

Unknown to him the same person who was killing his kind was on the same planet. He wasn't ordered to kill Jabba yet. There was still things that needed to be done before that. But there was other ways that could still affect him greatly. The Terrans wanted a widespread revolt of the slaves that even the republic wouldn't be able to help with.

The terrans wanted to be unknown during this mission. If they were spotted. The republic would have every right to be there with them and the mission would be much harder for them. But if they had the support of the people. Than it wouldn't matter.

Noble Six wasn't going to do this mission on his own though. A few other Spartans with some marines were going to help out. All they needed to do was create a spark in most of the slaves and the rest would be history.

All they needed was time and they had to act fast before the Jedi and republic made a move against them. They knew some Jedi would be pushed against them, but they wanted to make sure that there attempt to stop them gone once they they set foot on the planet.
