Half an hour later, the four busses arrived and the Widows were loaded into them. Dreykov, Prism, Ajax, Gina Carano, Gaza, and Peepers were taken in a bus separate from the Widows. The mutates were escorted by Master M'tz and Gar. Shang-Chi escorted a bus along with Natalie, Boba Fett, and Sol took another bus, while Zaran managed the prisoners in the final bus.
Master M'tz and Gar sat in their bus in silence. Gar stared at the floor; he didn't dare to say a word.
"Well, you know I'm not going to ignore this whole thing. What do you have to say for yourself?" Master M'tz asked.
"There was a disturbance in the Force, I had to --"
"You had to secretly bring your friends away to nearly get killed," Master M'tz finished.
Gar sat silently, "I thought we could handle it."
"You are a stupid brat! Do you think you're the only one who can feel disturbances in the Force? I've lived much longer than you and was already a Jedi Master before you were born. I thought I could trust you. Sol and Natalie only went along with this plan because it was you. Do you think either of them are risk takers? They trusted you, but you nearly got your best friend killed. If I hadn't sent Fett, he would be dead.
How much longer could Natalie have held out against Taskmaster? Even Fett could only draw even with the man. You charged in arrogantly trusting in a few tricks you've learned, and then you nearly fell to the dark side!"
"I'm sorry, Master M'tz, you're right. I haven't been treating this world like it's real. Part of me wonders if I were to die, would I wake up at home? Is this reality or am I in a computer simulation?" Gar looked at Master M'tz. He was truly asking him, where was he?
"You had such questions but never came to me to ask," Master M'tz looked a little sad and disappointed.
"I resented you, and I didn't trust you," Gar responded.
Master M'tz locked eyes with Gar, "Why?"
"You tricked us into coming here. We thought we were playing a video game and you knew that. We signed a "contract," and now we can't get out of it. You kidnapped us, how can I trust you?"
Master M'tz considered Gar's confession, "You are right, I tricked you. It never occurred to me that you would have such a reaction. I thought a person who loved Star Wars as much as you would jump at the chance to become what you always wanted."
"Who knows what I would have done, if you never asked," Gar said.
"I see, so that's why you didn't ask. You wanted to pay me back, eh?" Master M'tz asked.
"Sol didn't ask for this, he's been my friend since we were little. He loves his family, don't get me wrong, I do too, but Sol. It's different for him. If he knew what the game was about I don't think he would have agreed," Gar finished speaking as he continued to start at the floor.
"Revenge then, for kidnapping your friend," Master M'tz responded.
"Not revenge, I truly felt a disturbance in the Force. I've tried not to be angry with you, but I can't help it. I got reckless. I don't even understand why we're here. Why would you use what could only be a powerful means to transverse one or more universes to bring us here? It's my dream come true, but I know there's no such thing as a free lunch.
I haven't given you enough credit," Master M'tz said quieted as he drifted into his thoughts. Gar didn't push anything. It was time to see what Master M'tz would do. After a while, he looked at Gar.
"I can't go into great detail, but I needed a warrior. Someone who could save my universe. I chose you because of how much you loved Star Wars. You loved my home, and I needed someone like that," Master M'tz said.
"If you wanted me to save your universe why are we here? Shouldn't we have gone to your universe?" Gar asked.
Master M'tz laughed, "We are in my universe. Have you forgotten how every movie begins?"
"A long time ago in a galaxy far far away... Do you mean --"
"Yes, the movies you watched, the stories took place in this universe. It happened a long time ago, in another galaxy," Gar was gobsmacked.
"If we went to the right galaxy we could go to Tatooine, Coruscant, Nabu?" Gar was excited.
"Yes."
"Wait, you're getting me excited, but not answering my questions.
"It's not time to answer your questions, the most I can promise you is that once the mission is done here, I'll do my best to send you home," Master M'tz said.
"What about Sol?"
"Of course, him too. You may not realize it, but he's also an important factor. But look Gar, I want you to be willing. If you don't want to be here, I'll try to send you back as soon as possible. Please decide," Master M'tz said.
"What about Sol and Natalie?"
"Natalie is a native, she has her sisters, I'm sure she's happy to be here. Sol is homesick, but he's important."
"I wouldn't mind being here, it's a dream come true. However, I miss my family. If I could bring them here, I wouldn't mind staying permanently," Gar said.
"How many people would I need to transfer to this universe for everyone to be happy? If it were in my power I would do it. It was a rare opportunity to find you," he said.
Thinking for a while Gar looked around the bus, "Why me? Why not someone from this universe? I'm sure that there's someone qualified here."
"There are plenty of people on Earth that I could have chosen, but they're all tainted," Gar said.
"Tainted?"
"This goes into matters that I cannot discuss with you. I can tell you the midichlorians are unable to expand beyond my galaxy. Although the Force is ever present, without the midichlorians there's no way to converse with the Force. Only outsiders infused with midichlorians could shatter the blockade and open other galaxies to the Force. You are a host for the midichlorians, and when you are strong enough you will build a new Jedi order in this galaxy and others. When enough powerful Jedi are gathered...that is a discussion for another day," Master M'tz stopped short of explaining everything.
"You're quite the tease. Why didn't you infuse midichlorians into So?"
"He didn't want to be a Jedi, the midichlorians could only thrive within someone who longed for the Force. He is still important. He fulfills another role in this universe," Master M'tz once again stopped short of explaining everything.
"You can't stop there, why is he important?"
Laughing at the young man the older Jedi shook his head, "I have told you what I can. I must know if you are willing to help. I want you to choose to help me and become a powerful Jedi Master, but it must be your desire."
"Something like this," Gar indicated everything around him. "It's something I've dreamed of since I was a child. I want to help with all my heart, even if I must make difficult sacrifices." Smiling a weight lifted from his shoulders. A similar expression spread to Master M'tz.
"Good, then from this moment on you are no longer an Initiate. You possess the rank of Padawan learner and I will introduce you to your master."
