Chapter 1Chapter 1 - The Last Floor

"Finally, I reached the 100th floor. Now, where are you, Vampire Lord?" Bong Jum declared with determination in his voice.

Bong Jum, after so many struggles, finally reached the last floor of the tower. The tower, a mysterious object, appeared across the world. No one knew how it descended, and it caused calamity, but it was also a boon as many humans awakened with a strange power. They started their journey to conquer the tower, hoping to reach the last floor and defeat the final boss. There was a prophecy that if someone could reach the last floor and clear it, everything would be restored back to how it was before.

"Finally, after a thousand years, someone has been able to reach the final floor. I was getting bored here for a thousand years," the Vampire Lord replied. He sat in his throne, shrouded by dark mist, his sinister smile exposed his sharp fangs and eerie demeanor as his fearsome voice echoed throughout the entire floor.

"Bored? You insolence, Vampire! I will end you here, and your cries of death will echo in this very room," Bong replied with anger, his voice filled with determination to kill the Vampire Lord.

"Then, without further ado, let's start our little fight. Let's see how long you will last. I have very high hopes for you," Vampire Lord declared with confidence, ready to face the Bong in a fierce battle.

Bong, the aura swordmaster, and S rank hunter, focused his aura into his legs to gain a powerful speed boost. With a thrust of his leg on the floor, he launched himself towards the Vampire Lord with lightning speed, holding his sword firmly in hand. The floor erupted with the thrust of Bong's speed as he channeled his aura into the sword and struck the Vampire Lord.

The Vampire Lord raised one hand to cast Dark Energy, which collided with the sword's aura, causing a huge explosion that pushed Bong back to the ground, while the Vampire Lord remained standing still in his position.

"This is unexpected. With only one spell, you fell to the ground. I can't believe it. Are humans this weak?" Vampire Lord taunting him with a mischievous smile on his face, amused by Bong's struggle.

"You! Shut up! Talk less and fight more! I am not dead yet, and as long as I am breathing, I will fight you and end you once and for all!" Undeterred, Bong steadied himself once again, his determination unwavering. He knew that he couldn't afford to falter in this crucial moment. He gathered his aura once again, ready to face the Vampire Lord head-on.

They were fighting which seems like an eternity now, with Bong's sword and the Vampire Lord's Dark energy colliding repeatedly, pushing Bong to the ground. But each time, he stood up again, ready to face the Vampire Lord. The whole room was filled with dust and crackling air, charged with lightning as they clashed with lightning speed. The ground torn apart by the force of their relentless struggle, bearing the brunt of their intense battle.

Finally, after an eternity of battling on the last floor, Bong and the Vampire Lord who were fighting for years. In a crucial moment, Bong saw an opening and seized the opportunity. With swift precision, he went in to stab the Vampire Lord in the stomach, piercing him with his sword.

"Finally, I won in the end. This is the end for you. If you have any last wishes, speak now," Bong asked, his voice faltering and out of breath. He had used all his energy to deliver that final blow to the Vampire Lord.

"Really? You think you could kill me? I am an immortal. I cannot die," the Vampire Lord declared confidently. The room suddenly felt colder, and a smooth breeze caressed the exposed skin on the back of my neck, an omen of death. It was the laugh of the Vampire Lord, mocking the futile attempt to end his immortal existence.

"I knew it all along. I cannot kill you as a Vampire, for you are immortal. However, every Vampire has a weakness," Bong declared with newfound determination, refusing to back down.

"As you can see, your wounds are not regenerating now. Have you not thought about it? Have you wondered why?" Bong said to the Vampire Lord, a grin on his face as he pointed out the crucial observation.

"Cough... Cough..." The Vampire Lord realized the truth in Bong's words. As he looked down, he saw his stomach pierced by Bong's sword, blood flowing from the wound. He recognized that his wounds were not regenerating as they should.

The Vampire Lord immediately fell to his knees, while Bong struggled to stand, barely holding onto his sword. Bong exerted all his remaining strength to ensure that the Vampire Lord couldn't escape. The sinister smile on the Vampire Lord's face transformed into a twisted kind of satisfaction as he realized that his end was near.

"Why are you smiling? Do you think you can escape, No, You cannot, there is no escape left for you, as you know, I ... ," Bong began to speak but Vampire Lord put his index finger on lips. It was a gesture both firm and deliberate, cutting off Bong's words with an air of authority. Now listen.

"I know... I realized you knew my weakness... cough... cough... I am not going anywhere. Alas! I know this is my end, and I am very happy. At last, my curse of immortality is broken, and I will be free from living like hell in this tower, " The Vampire Lord admitted, his voice strained as he acknowledged his defeat and impending release from the burden of immortality.

"I was trapped here for eternity, waiting for someone to break my curse of immortality. Now, I will tell you the one secret that you should know. This curse was placed by the ##### and... and..." Tower attempted to interrupt the Vampire Lord, their voice cutting in to prevent the secret from being revealed.

"Wait, wait! What do you want to say?" Bong exclaimed, his voice filled with panic, urging the Vampire Lord to reveal the truth.

"You... You... whoever... broke the curse of immortality... will also..." Tower again interject into the conversation between Bong and the Vampire Lord, their words faltering as they fought to speak.

The world and plot of the story is fun but I can’t give too much credit there since it is very easily “influenced” by other similar novels (virtually 10% of Webnovel alone follows similar plot lines). The problem for me was that the first 5 chapters were practically from an entirely different book. The author has spoken about their favorite books and what they were going for but needs a completely different start to the book for the characters to make sense. They clearly want to go the comedy route like the slime novels but completely missed the aspects of that series that allowed the comedy to make sense. I’m slime, the mc was a burnt out salaryman that had heroic tendencies but was an Everyman thrust into a magical world. This novel’s mc shouldn’t get to have the same silliness and lack of purpose and urgency that made the slime succeed as a comedy. In addition to the problems in establishing the personality of the mc, the author also completely dropped the ball on transitioning the mc’s personality and you can see two completely different characters speaking from chapter 5 to chapter 6. No explanation about the extreme comedy approach out of nowhere. One chapter he is extremely upset and confused about his new life and the next he is acting like killing people is his second favorite pastime? (Literally used the words “human juice” when describing blood) Overall I think that the author had an idea for a comedy but got their genres confused and was not experienced enough to figure out how to make everything make sense. I can tell they made great strides in improving their grammar and syntax based on earlier reviews but that is only the absolute basics required to write something. Hopefully their next novel will include a more consistent point of view as an author once their writing ability and artistic visions are more solidified.
