Synopsis

Accidentally killing yourself is a bummer, dying due to not reading the terms of service is embarrassing, and selling your afterlife is depressing. Now, let's follow Alistair, who, in his great wisdom performed the former while drunk, on his great quest of cleaning the Holy Grail of its corruption. And if that wasn’t hard enough, he needs to clean it during the 4th Holy Grail war, you know, the one with the worlds most feared assassin as a master, a psychopathic murder master and servant duo, a priest who goes on to hide kids in his basement, two of the knights of the round and fucking Gilgamesh in the mix. Safe to say, he’ll be acquiring premium life insurance, before stepping foot into Fuyuki. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Update schedule is three chapters a week, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

One Piece: Deriving All Things

Sanders has crossed into the world of One Piece, blessed with a unique ability: he can derive and master any power—Haki, Devil Fruits, combat techniques—everything can become his. To survive and grow stronger in this chaotic world, he joins the Marines, seeking structure and safety. But fate takes a dark turn when his adoptive parent is ruthlessly murdered by a Celestial Dragon. Sanders vows revenge, yet before he can act, he is captured by Sengoku and Kizaru, locked away in the depths of Impel Down. In the infamous prison, Sanders uses his power to derive new abilities from legends around him: the Moa Moa no Mi, the Fusion-Fusion Fruit, even Barrett's fearsome Haki. As years pass, Sanders grows more powerful, biding his time. Finally, he decides the moment has come—he walks out of Impel Down, shaking the world to its core. "You fought Kaido in a fierce battle; derivation time for the Azure Dragon Fruit reduced by one year." "You battled Whitebeard with all your strength; Gura Gura no Mi (Quake-Quake Fruit) successfully derived." "You clashed with Big Mom; her indomitable Steel Balloon Physique is now yours." At the Summit War, Sanders challenges the might of all three Admirals singlehandedly. Marine Headquarters: "He was once one of us; now, we regret it deeply." Boa Hancock: "I’ll stand by Sanders—let’s declare war on the Celestial Dragons!" Nico Robin: "Only he can bring me true safety." Join Sanders as he faces the mightiest forces of the One Piece world, deriving power from the strongest to fulfill his destiny. -------------- Access 30 chapters in advance on my Patreon: p@treon.com/OneFic This is a translation work; I do not own it.

This fanfic is simply impressive. I rarely, if ever, find a fic where the lore is so well respected, in both the world building, and in how he portrays well known characters, as I don't find it hard to imagine most of them saying or acting in how the author portrays them. This is further shown when he summons his Servant, as they are not a prominent character in Fate, but he sticks to the lore on them, and even in the dream cycle, he follows the characters legends almost to the letter, but from their perspective. Another nice thing is that since the Mc is a Fate novice, we the reader get to learn side by side with him, allowing us to be on a relatively similar plane of understanding as the Mc, without needing to constantly check Wikipedia for the lore to understand what's going on. The most impressive part about it, is that it never comes across as condescending, weird or out of place when we learn a thing or two, and even with me knowing so much about the lore, I have been pleasantly surprised with how the Author has handled 'teaching' us it, without it getting repetitive. The Oc's are all well made, and lore accurate, making them refreshing to read about, as they seem genuine, and not just a plot device to further the story. The main character is clearly flawed in personality and is someone who starts out as a novice with all things regarding Fate, yet through the story he grows as both a person and magus. With the Grail War catapulting his character development, and it is a joy to read. The supporting cast is great, and I am find them as a great addition as they elevate the story. Another plus is that he has a proper family, as I am far too used to fanfictions having the main protagonist being an orphan or being distant with his relatives. While here, his mother plays a proper role in his life, and she is a good mother and is an engaging part of the story. The Servant he summons deserves its own long and detailed paragraph, but I do not wish to spoil who it is, but know that how they are characterized, and later change though the Grail War is impeccably handled. As I went from somewhat disliking the character due to who they were, and how they were acting towards best girl (You'll know who it is when you read), but now I can't help but love their character, and I wish the best for them and can't wait to see how the Author will handle their character, as I never expected to start liking them. When it comes to the story, the Author has clearly put in a lot of thought, and it feels natural for the most part, and very believable. Characters acting as they should, and the situation adapting to the changes are all handled well, and I am excited to see what the Author has in store for the finale of the Fourth Holy Grail War. When it comes to writing style, it is clear that he was a bit new to it in the beginning, but past chapter 9 he finds his rhythm, and the writing quality improves as a whole. I am as well very pleased with the chapters being so long, somewhere around four thousand words each if I am not mistaken, so that is a big plus. And the Authors consistency is great, as he posts at least twice a week, despite him having exams season. All in all, this has to be in my top five Fics that I have ever read, and I hope that Webnovel authors continue to impress like Leylin here. So, I wish you luck, Leylin Blackwood, and I hope you never drop this gem, as it would be a great shame!

Fanfiction Review: Fate/Fake Order by Hugh Janus “Fate/Fake Order” by Hugh Janus brings a fresh, lively spin to the Fate universe, centered around a dynamic new protagonist, Alastair. Alastair is openly and proudly gay, and his unapologetic personality adds a compelling twist to the high-stakes world of the Grail War. Hugh Janus has crafted a protagonist with depth and flair, making Alastair feel both relatable and unique within the context of the series. His witty, charming approach to the challenges he faces makes him a refreshing departure from the typical Fate mages. The story does an excellent job highlighting Alastair’s personality beyond his sexuality. Hugh Janus skillfully avoids stereotypes, instead building Alastair as a well-rounded character whose confidence and wit enhance each interaction. His flirtatious nature brings humor, especially in his banter with other mages and servants, yet there’s an emotional core to his character that adds layers to his journey. The bond between Alastair and his servant is one of the story’s highlights. Their relationship is beautifully written, evolving from cautious respect to a genuine partnership. Hugh Janus balances tension, humor, and heartfelt moments to give their dynamic a natural feel, making their journey together impactful and memorable. The action scenes are another strong point. Hugh Janus brings the combat to life with vivid, detailed descriptions that capture the intensity and strategy characteristic of Fate battles. The lore is expertly woven in, showing the author’s respect for the source material while adding their unique twist. Overall, “Fate/Fake Order” by Hugh Janus is an engaging read for Fate fans. Alastair is a memorable, fully realized protagonist whose story is as thrilling as it is heartfelt. Hugh Janus’s writing makes this fanfiction a standout, blending action, humor, and heart into a genuinely entertaining experience.
