Chapter 16: Hunt

From the goblin's eyes, he could see a creature that was currently munching on a piece of fruit. It was 0.7 meters tall when standing up and had two dark horns curling slightly to its back. The creature had brown-spotted fur. It had large ears that dropped down below its horns. It's arms gripped the fruit, not unlike how a squirrel would grip its nuts.

It was a rabbit. Or, more specifically, a horned rabbit.

Not far from it, two goblins watched this creature as it ate its food. Through his connection with the goblins, the child was able to see the creature.

Hidden within the bushes, the two goblins had yet to alert the creature. That was, of course, because the child had ordered them otherwise. Since the two goblins were noobs in everything other than the basics, they would have gone closer. So he ordered them to hide and not alert the potential enemy.

Crack!

But noobs were noobs. The two ended up giving themselves away. One of them stepped on a stick and cracked it. Almost instantly, the rabbit's ears perked up. Its body was still, but its head turned swiftly toward the two goblins. But unlike what would be expected of a rabbit, the creature just ran away. It instead stared creepily at the two.

"It noticed?"

The child was somewhat surprised, but it only made sense when he looked at the two large ears. It was only because they were drooping down that he didn't think they were that effective.

"But why isn't it running away? Is it curious because of the two unknown beings? Or..."

The child did not even finish his thought when the rabbit suddenly bolted towards the goblins.

The child was able to react in time and ordered the goblins to dodge the attack. But just because he was able to react does not mean the two would be able to...

Bam!

One of the goblins was rammed directly into the stomach. With the child's reaction speed, he was able to see the goblin spew blood as though it were in slow motion. Not only that, he was able to even hear the crack in the goblin's ribs. With that ram, it was thrown a meter away.

At that very moment, the child ordered the other goblin to attack the rabbit with his sword. But maybe it was bad luck or inexperience in effect, but the sword only hit the rabbit's horn. Leaving merely a shallow white mark on its horns.

After it was hit, the rabbit did not stay; instead, it bolted away and made distance between the two. When it was far away, it stood up and looked back at the goblin.

"Fast," the child commented. "Very terrifying instantaneous speed, plus a thick skull and horns. Perfect for sneak attacks but weak in close combat. But other than its horns, it has no other attack methods."

Even though the rabbit only moved up its sleeves, it seems like it was a terrifying one, as the goblin it had just rammed writhed on the ground in pain. Blood came out of its mouth while it clutched its abdomen.

No matter how much he ordered it, the goblin did not stand up. It just continued screaming in pain. So the child focused on the one goblin he still had. He ordered it to keep calm and not run away; although the goblin obeyed, it seemed like its friends screams made it shaky.

The rabbit, on the other hand, did not attack. It seems like it was very confident that the goblin wouldn't reach it. Instead of being vigilant, it reached out its arm to its horn, touching them and feeling the chipped part of its horns.

Feeling the white-marked part of its horn, the rabbit seems to have gotten angry. Without warning, the rabbit bolted once more towards the goblin. The goblin was startled but was prepared due to the child's warning. It raised its shield and swung the sword down as hard as it could. But the rabbit had to make a curve before it could connect.

Bam!

"A 100° turn so close to the target?"

The sword hit the ground, but that was not the end of it all. When the rabbit reached a few meters away from the goblin, it did a turn and headed straight for the goblin. The goblin was not able to turn back in time and was rammed. Luckily, though slow, it still reacted. so the rabbit was only able to hit its shoulder. And because the rabbit did a quick u-turn to attack, it was not able to get a good enough startup run. So its attack was at most half as strong as the one that hit the first goblin.

Bam!

But still, the goblin was pushed back and fell to the ground. While the rabbit passed and created some distance to charge again.

Seeing the rabbit preparing to charge at it, the goblin was terrified. With its shoulder now injured, the goblin discarded its weapon and shield to run away.

The rabbit, on the other hand, did not immediately attack; it just looked at the running goblin with its large eyes. But the goblin did not even take five steps before the rabbit disappeared from its original spot and charged at the goblin.

Bam!

The rabbit's horns named the goblin's spine. Through his connection with the goblin, the child could hear a crack in its spine.

Suuddenly, out of nowhere, to the rabbit's surprise, two more goblins appeared and charged at it. But it was only a surprise; with its sensitive senses and amazing reflexes, there was no way it would be attacked. So it jumped back and tried to make some distance between the two. It was then that it noticed another goblin appearing in front of its path. It changed its running trajectory quickly but was met with a sword that was aimed at its head.

But the rabbit's reflexes had not failed it yet, as it managed to curve its head and dodge the attack. But it's right ear did not have its luck. It was instantly cut off. The rabbit instantly bolted past the two new goblins that had just appeared and ran starlight for the bushes.

The child ordered the two goblins that had arrived to chase after the rabbit, but he knew that it was unlikely to succeed.

He ordered the two left-over goblins to check up on the two injured goblins.

"What an amazing creature! With just a few attacks, it was able to take down two of my armed goblins. It seems the goblins are still too inexperienced for a proper battle."

Luckily, the child had acted swiftly and called in two nearby teams to assist. Otherwise, the two goblins would have been dead.

...

Hope you enjoyed the first battle!
