Chapter 1The Sole Talent Awakener

In the Holy Mountain Empire, within the Val Administrative Region.

At the Earth Seed Base, number 71392, within the Talent Awakening Zone.

...

"Base number: 01254110, awakening failed, no talent, next."

"Wait, please, give me another chance!"

"Get lost."

"Base number: 01254111, awakening failed, no talent, next."

"It's impossible! Impossible!I even have mastery-level skills, how could I not awaken?"

"Shut up, get out!"

"Base number…"

...

Underneath a giant shining orb in the square.

A group of young boys and girls walked forward, feeling disheartened and even unbelievably rolling around after being illuminated by the brilliant rays.

But in the end, they were all escorted off the stage.

And the middle-aged man overseeing it all remained calm: "Such poor quality in this batch of newcomers! Not a single one with potential talent?"

"Forget it. This is a normal phenomenon."

At the edge of the square, a young man was panicking.

Everyone before him had failed!

It was almost his turn, and it didn't look hopeful.

Can I awaken a talent?

No way!

Someone whispered beside him: "Isn't it? We've tested almost half of our batch, and not a single one has awakened a talent?"

"Don't panic! They're just stepping stones! According to statistics, every base test averages one or two awakenings. If no one before us has succeeded, our chances just got better!"

"Holy crap! That makes so much sense!" the young man thought.

He couldn't help but glance back at a slightly chubby boy with faint freckles speaking confidently.

But then, Sterl, the young man from before, could only bitterly smile in his heart. In his previous life, he was a bottom player in playing UNO card games. But after crossing time, now he had to rely on luck to decide his future as either a special ability user or a nameless nobody.

He was different from the people around him. Although he appeared young, Sterl's soul came from a place called the Earth.

He used to be a programmer in America. but one day when he woke up, he found himself in a

Game world.

Yes, you heard right, a Game world.

Humans in this world also once lived on a planet called the Earth. But with the outbreak of World War III, human civilization was nearly annihilated.

The terrifying energy released from nuclear warfare even accidentally tore through space, allowing countless extraterrestrial monsters to invade and occupy the world, forcing humanity to hide in bases and caves, barely surviving.

Until the Explorer, which was sent out countless years ago, brought a game called [Transcendence] that connected the entire universe. As a result, humans moved their physical bodies to the underground world and their spirits entered Transcendence to live.

In reality, only some workers responsible for producing babies and powerful "professionals" could survive.

"Professionals" are the changes brought to humanity by the game [Transcendence].

How could a game connect the entire universe? In the game, players could obtain various extraordinary powers to use in reality.

And a professional is the title that players possess in the game after successfully transitioning to professions such as warrior, priest, or mage through a series of missions.

This, however, was too far-fetched for Sterl.

If he couldn't awaken a talent, his life would pretty much be over.

Because in the game world, Earth's humanity was just one insignificant race among countless others. And because they joined [Transcendence] very late, they didn't even have their own territory. They could only rely on a place called Vastuo Continent and rely on numerous local NPCs to develop smoothly.

Thus, Earth's forces could only train a few individuals with potential to become players. And if one were to remain a commoner, surviving in the extremely realistic game of [Transcendence] would mean a constant struggle for survival.

"If I can't awaken a talent, I'll just have to live off someone else." Sterl sighed helplessly. Young boys and girls of the same age around him are still chattering.

"I will definitely awaken a talent this time! To become a great warrior!"

"It feels like after this test, our last illusions will be shattered. Might as well wait for death."

"Don't talk nonsense. Who says we can't be the ones with talents?"

...

Some imagined a future where they awakened talents and became powerful, while others were utterly pessimistic, feeling that after the test, their last hope of becoming a player would be crushed.

And at that moment, a middle-aged man in flaming red armor, exuding authority, shouted:

"Silence!"

At the same time, a crimson flame aura spread out from around him.

Instantly, countless eighteen-year-olds fell silent, not daring to make a sound.

They all felt a wave of flame power sweep past them, knowing that a slight exertion of force could reduce them to ashes!

They also looked up to the middle-aged man with admiration.

"It's him! Commander Smith!"

"He soared to the skies by awakening a talent!"

"This is the regional commander! I didn't expect him to personally oversee our talent awakening."

...

Sterl also looked up at the figure on the high platform, slightly envious. He knew that imposing man was a professional who had awakened a D-grade fire talent.

After the middle-aged man awakened his talent, the base provided a few player training sessions. Then the base arranged for experts to level up with him and his batch of newcomers.

Later, the middle-aged man smoothly advanced to level five, gaining the ability to solo monsters. And then he climbed step by step, going from a commoner directly to the commander of the Sixth District, managing tens of thousands of people, an incredibly noble status!

Who wouldn't be envious?

You know, the man was originally just a mediocre orphan!

"Next, base number: 01254114." The middle-aged man coldly called out the number.

Sterl was startled, then hurriedly stepped forward. This was his number in the base.

"Go for it, man!"

"Come on! Awaken a talent!" Sterl's somewhat familiar friends cheered him on as a matter of routine.

Their words were kind, but their expressions held no expectation at all. Awaken a talent? Sterl? How could that be possible?

Sterl, unaware of his friends' thoughts, took a few steps forward and stood under the orb, bathed in its strange light.

"Uh..." Bathed in a strange radiance, Sterl felt as if his body and mind had been washed away. Then an extremely wonderful energy burst forth from his soul.

He heard a buzzing in his ears, and his vision was filled with white.

However, the outside world was astir:

"Holy shit! That's the light of awakening!"

"Wow! Sterl is going to soar! He's awakened a talent!"

"What talent is it? Did the machine detect it?"

"Why him!! Why!"

...

For a moment, the scene became chaotic, with some amazed, some envious, and some extremely envious.

Even the middle-aged man couldn't continue to manage the order. Instead, he looked towards the giant crystal ball that displayed the anomaly with surprise and then loudly announced:

"Number 01254114, Mr. Sterl, congratulations on awakening a D-grade talent... Attribute Enhancement!"

"Not bad, not bad! Young man, you are truly the pride of our Sixth District."

"Attribute Enhancement may be a common talent, but it allows you to solo monsters right from the start. You don't have to wait for the base to arrange someone to lead you, you can quickly become a formal player!"

"If you're interested, I can recommend you to the Green Pastures Guild. Hmm, a D-grade talent is quite impressive."

The man had lost his previously cold demeanor and instead warmly welcomed him.

And below the high platform, countless young men and women were excited.

"Sterl actually made it! He's the guy who spent over a decade maSterling basic steps without success!"

"Damn! I feel like I can do it too!"

"Holy shit! Sterl has turned his fate around! He's really taken off!"

...

Many people showed envy, but even more were ignited with hope — who would think themselves inferior to an utterly ordinary peer?

If Sterl could awaken a talent, then we should have a chance too!

However, despite the hustle and bustle of the outside world, Sterl didn't respond and just stood there dumbfounded.

The middle-aged man was generous, "Mr. Sterl is too excited. Let's give him some time."

But Sterl was indeed a bit dazed. Having awakened a talent, he automatically received a player panel, but he was stunned by the strange words displayed on his attribute panel.

"Wait a minute."

"Could this be..."

"My cheat as a time traveler?"

His expression was blank, seemingly overwhelmed by the joy of awakening a talent.

In reality, he was equally stunned, shocked by another piece of good news.

[Player: Sterl]

[Level: 0]

[Physique: 1]

[Strength: 1]

[Agility: 1]

[Spirit: 1]

[Physical Talent Ability: Attribute Amplification (D-grade)]+

[Mental Talent Ability: Current potential insufficient for awakening]+

The panel seemed normal. But behind both talent abilities, there appeared a plus sign.

What was happening?

GlaringError here! As I have already mentioned in my author review I am restating it here since I am getting tons of comments about it, that I am more of a reader myself than a writer, I made this novel in an attempt to capture my fantasy world residing in my mind into words.. Writing is new for me.. The premise of my novel is inspired by many great works that I have loved over the years. And some elements I have in my novel that are slightly similar to them but it's just the skeleton of it, the real meat of the plot is entirely my own cooking. Some of the influence that is more noticeable is from The Runesmith (By Kuropon), The King's Avatar (By Butterfly Blue) and Shadow Slave (By Guiltythree). I have immense respect for these legends and I can only hope to follow in their footsteps. To all those who comment just by judging the name, at least give it a chance before letting your opinions be known. Thank you.

Honest reviews are here.. [Extreme Spoiler Alert] I am sure many people are confused if this author in webnovel is a real author or just a translator.. The reason many people are confused is because the author on this webnovel claims that this is his work (which is true).. But the problem is, there are sooooo many times that the author KEEP CHANGING the naming of the class or job profession, or the name of the skills or item and so on.. Luckily, the character names are fixed.. Yes, there are many names of "things" that keep changing and changing and changing.. Unless the author has a short-term memory of a goldfish, it never happens if you are a real author.. BUT, most translators made these mistakes.. That is why many people doubt if the author here is the real author.. And don't be mistaken by these "naming errors" as if this novel has poor English. Instead, compared to MTL, it is actually a good one..And this problem only last 100+ chapters.. Since last month or two, those mistakes haven't happened anymore.. The novel is quite entertaining, and as a fan of OP MC, this novel does have an OP MC.. MC does have a golden finger.. He can evolve his talent, item, and so on once per day.. MC started with D-rank, so on 1st day, evolved it into C-rank.. 2nd day, C-rank into B-rank.. 3rd day, A-rank.. 4th day S-rank, 5th day SS-rank and 6th day, evolved it into SSS-rank.. It is nice as MC can evolve his scroll, technique, skill, talent, or anything.. The only limit is he can only do it once per day.. If MC evolved the skill today, he needs to wait to evolve other things tomorrow or later on.. MC kinda likes to max out the skill in one go (continue evolving for a few days until it got max) before changing others' items or skills or talent.. MC got absolutely no pride.. His didn't care for his reputation at all.. For example, there are Spark Program (Program for young genius), the person responsible to recruit this program is so arrogant and treat MC as trash to the point he said, "Outsiders may value the talents in the Spark Program highly, but with our status, we don't need be so concerned.. They're just a bunch of dogs we're raising." MC been compared to a dog, and he still accepts this person invitation.. The other race keep mocking MC to no end and treat him like a garbage, but MC just ignore them.. "If" the tournament lasts for a week, then for the whole week, MC will be mocked every day.. And MC will still choose to ignore them without doing anything or trying to defend himself.. But if we thinks positively, he is trying to stay under the radar to avoid any unnecessary conflicts or troubles.. Other than that, when other finally saw MC true strength, they made an attempt to act close with MC as friendly as possible.. What annoying is that MC seems like he forget that they are the one that keep mocking him earlier, and what worse is that MC did treat them nicely.. ⚠️Reminder: There are adult scenes in this novel, and there are no warnings by author at all.. Imagine you reading this novel suddenly during the adult scene, your wife or girlfriend or kid come near you to see what you are doing on the phone, and they saw you reading adult scene.. So, you might feel awkward and subconsciously uncomfortable that suddenly the adult scene comes out while you are reading this novel in public or when you are near other people.. So, don't read this novel in public.. The levelling and ranking also not organise and arrange nicely.. Blue tier skill (above lv61), Purple-tier skill (above lv91), Golden-tier skill (above lv141), and so on.. Yes, Lv61 then Lv91, then Lv141.. If you read and follow a bunch of novels, you might forget about this novel levelling rank.. It is better if the author makes ranking easier to remember, like Lv50, then Lv100 and then Lv150, and so on.. But after Ch150+, the ranking change.. 2nd-class level: Lv60-Lv100 3rd-class level: Lv100-Lv150 Legendary-class level: Lv150-Lv250 Demigod-class level: Lv250-Lv500 God realm: Lv500+ So, yes, it is quite confusing as you read this novel because it changes certain things suddenly, like the author keeps forgetting what he wrote on his beginning chapters.. Maybe this is an old author?? Or has dementia?? Or maybe after reading my previous reviews last month, the author changed it? My previous review was deleted by the author (even when I give 4.2 stars on previous review 😭 but now I dropped it a little bit).. Plus, this novel uses this rank, Black Iron (lowest), Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Legendary, Epic, Mythical (Highest, so far).. Most novels, Legendary rank is better than Epic rank, so when this novel makes Legendary rank lower than Epic rank, I am sure the reader will also get confused.. We, the readers will always think like this, "Is this novel has Legendary-rank better than or lower than Epic-rank?" Well, I can't blame the author because there are also "some" authors who make Legendary rank is weaker than Epic rank.. Moreover, the EXP here is like energy.. After killing monsters, player will get EXP, but the problem is that they need to digest the EXP to level up.. So, MC already accumulated so much EXP by killing numerous high level monsters, but because he didn't digest it by sitting down and cultivating his accumulated EXP, his level won't level up.. So, MC levelling speed is quite slow.. MC always becomes the person who has the lowest level in any place he goes.. Overall, I love this novel because I LOVES OP MC.. This evolved power kinda OP.. The author is not Nerf MC at all.. The update is quite fast too.. The pace kinda steady because even though his levelling speed is quite slow, his inner strength/overall power does rise quickly.. So I guess that the author balancing it.. If you like OP MC from the beginning, you might love this novel..

I'll start with what I like about this novel. 1) In general, it's just a pretty solid LitRPG. The progression is interesting, and it's an enjoyable read. 2) I wasn't expecting this novel to have such an interesting and engaging mystery. Finding out secrets about the game, its origins, its connection to humanity, etc. is really interesting and unique! Now for what I don't like or am not as big on: 1) The names of items/skills/classes/etc. are very inconsistent. Some people have said it might be a machine translation that can't keep the names of the same thing consistent, but whatever the case, it's distracting and hurts the novel. 2) The people in the novel have crazy mood swings when faced with difficult challenges. They go from calm to panicking to bloodthirsty to despairing to hopeful to calm again in mere moments. Most of the players have no sense of perseverance or bravery. When faced with a fight that they probably can't win, they usually just give up. Even when they're supposed to be people that have played the game for decades or even centuries and have painfully raised their strength to the level it is now. You'd think they would be a little invested to the point of trying until the end. But after having played the game and struggled for so long, they never developed any emotional intelligence. They still have the mood swings of teenager. 3) Sterl isn't a bad character, but he's not a very consistent character. He supposedly only acts for the benefit of himself and those he cares about(his harem). And any extra good he does is just if it's easy and while he's doing other things. That sounds like a character that would be good at his core, but he also has sacrificed human babies for rituals without batting an eye. My problem isn't him being good or evil. It's him straddling the line too much to be consistent.

If you've read the synopsis, it basically gives you a clear idea of the world background. Slight Spoilers below. Let me get this out of the way. It's a power fantasy novel with the most bare bones of lemons I have ever seen. To the point where it doesn't even feel like it needs to be there. LIke I get it he got to smash his two not girlfriends/childhood friends and lives with them. That's cool except they bring nothing to the story itself than just being there. I can't even recall their names to how unremarkable they are. It felt like a hit it and quickly get out of the main narrative deal. Again all of it felt unnecessary and only felt like a reason for the MC to have a notable weakness to exploit. If I had to list something strange it would be the world background. Now this can be seen as a positive or negative. It's sprinkled in here and there that humanity had to escape to a VRMMO to survive and if they die in game well they go back to an apocalyptic scene in real life. Cool thing is if they get powers in that VRMMO they can use it in the real world! ubless they died in the VRMMO then they become powerless in real life. (Expecting that for a later arc honestly) My only thing that got me curious was when the MC would be ejected from his vitual reality and how he can feed himself in real life. Hopefully it's answered later. Honestly it's an okay novel. Somethings you'll like as in the power fantasy system they got for the MC but besides that I can't exactly say. MC is likeable but a tad Edgy at times. You'll understand if you try it. Which I do recommend to try! Score 7 out of 10 Personal Score 6.8 out of 10. If there are lemons in it I'd like it to at least be a bit developed or properly written out otherwise just make it a fade to black.
