Buried in myths and legends is a town called Smalton, it was named this since it only had small people, and if the people are small so is everything else!
Buildings always had bright cheery colors with happy little people running around! That is what mothers told their children when they told stories for bed, that was where it stopped however. Smalton was filled with bland colors and angry people now who despised the world for making them small. The average height of the town was three feet tall, the only difference being Len who everyone thought was a giant of their village at at four feet and nine inches!
Len felt he was overworked by the people who called him friend, they would have him pull heavy carts for hours and only give him a carrot or potato. This is what drove Len to do what he was about to do, he hadn't eaten in five days and simply couldn't live off a single vegetable per day anymore. Nobody would give him a job or spare food, and nobody would tell him why!
And so he had been driven here, where he carefully pried open the window of the richest family in the town, it had a lining of literal silver with gold accents showing how much money the family had to waste. He lowered himself through it and looked around only intending to take food, but honestly it was so tempting to just take one priceless item and maybe he should have, but he held off on the temptation. This family was quite rich, having an entire herd of cows numbring almost two hundred and seven tens instead of one or two! It would not hurt them one bit if he took some food!
Len quickly crept to the basement and looked at the rows on rows of food, he no longer felt guilt. Salted steaks? gone. Apples? gone. Cheese? gone.. but save some for later. He felt pregnant his stomach was so bloated after his gluttony, he wondered if he could still fit through the window after stuffing himself..
The answer was yes, Len quietly left through the window he used before and ran as fast as his little legs would carry him to hide in his home, the stables, it wasn't his real home but it was the only place he wouldn't be kicked out of. He saw his only friend Coconut, she was a beautiful brown horse with a white stripe going down her snout, definitely the villages pride. Len gave her an apple he had stolen just for her, causing her to dance with ecitement at the sight of the gorgeous red apple.
Sitting in the stables he thought about how much he wished he could eat a full meal every day, what a luxury it would be. He saw the local blacksmith carting something in his fancy carriage pulled by pretty horses, and it gave Len an idea.. he could steal coconut. He had already committed a crime stealing this food.. and it was fun! He turned to smile brightly at his friend, he could head to a big city at the crack of dawn tommorow and make a new life for himself! He had a tragic backstory and animal buddy already so he was all set to be a main character! Len decided then and there that he would become the worlds best thief as he sat in dirty piles of hay, wearing clothes that were probably old enough to be his grandfather.
