Chapter – 19 Unconscious Beasts

Seeing that the beast had jumped towards his face Max had already taken out his sword in his hands, he made a slash with his sword towards the beast which was in midair. Basic-tier beasts didn't have much intelligence so the beast didn't think that it won't be able to save itself in the air. Now Max sword connected with the beast but it was slightly off and did not the cut beast in half it only slashed one of its legs.

Now with only three legs, the beast was having trouble maintaining its balance to stand up straight. Taking that as an advantage Max dashed towards the beast which had fallen a little ahead from the impact of the sword. Max made a downward slash on the beast who was standing in a single place seeing that his death was upon him and he was not able to do anything to save himself the beast just closed his eyes, showing the fear of his death.

Max sliced the beast in half and the beast's body fell on the ground while one side was just its meat the other side had a small size crystal that had some grey dots on it.

Seeing that the system had granted him experience, Max looked toward the crystal it was only the size of a golf ball, Max picked up the crystal, and when he did the system again pop up in front of him.

It is good cause' I can use the crystals to gain Exp. I can earn double the Exp. at the same time; I will gain Exp. from Killing beasts then I can use their crystal to gain more Exp. it will make leveling up easier for me. If all the beasts are like this one, I will level up very soon, thinking that Max took the crystal to Lucas.

"Lucas, here is the crystal from the beast." Max tried to give the crystal to Lucas. "You can that to yourself it's of no use to us" Lucas refused to take the crystal from him and they again get to their positions from earlier and started looking for another beast.

"Does every beast here is weak like the one I killed earlier?" Max asked all of them, a little confused cause' everyone had told him that beasts are not easy to kill but he had done the same with so little effort. Thus, he was not able to believe that every beast will be like that.

"If all beasts were like that one, people here would not be living in the fear of beasts. That beast was nothing special, they usually stay in a hoard but I guess this one had gotten separated from them." Lucas told Max while focusing on the front.

It was like that and I thought this beast was weak, it just happened to be unlucky to wander here alone. If we encounter some more of them like that, I'll be able to fill my Exp. bar quickly. I also need to use the Dimensional Travel to level it up but I shouldn't use it in front of all of them until it's necessary. Thinking that Max continued their hunt.

Now the sun had set down completely, it was becoming hard to travel in the already dark forest. Everyone had lightened a wooden torch to lighten the surroundings but it was like giving an invitation to the danger lurking in the shadows.

Walking in the dark forest Max was paying attention to his surroundings even though Lucas was checking the surroundings Max was not able to drop his guard his hand was always on the sword that was hanging on his waist. After walking for a couple of minutes Lucas signaled them to stop.

Curious why Lucas had stopped everyone Max was trying to catch a glimpse of what was ahead of Lucas that had made him stop them. After waiting for a minute Lucas signaled them to walk without making a noise, after getting a signal from Lucas all three of them tried to not make any noise while they get closer to Lucas. After getting close to Lucas, they were surprised to see that five of those grey beasts from earlier were sleeping there.

"It's unusual for them to sleep like this at night time, everyone stay alert of your surrounding this might be the work of the beast that we are here for," Lucas said in a low voice which was only heard by the other three, now Max was near Lucas he was able to see those beasts. "I can gain at least 10 to 12 Exp. from them but first I need to make sure, that the beast Lucas is talking about is not near," Max thought and tried to come up with something which won't put them in any danger.

"What are we going to do now, Lucas?" Max wanted to hear what Lucas will suggest first; after that, he will decide what he is going to do, if needed he had to leave the thought of killing these beasts here. "It doesn't look like a trap or home for that beast. We should kill these beasts and move ahead; it looks like the beast had made these beasts unconscious and move ahead for some reason" hearing Lucas explain what might have occurred here everyone was thinking the same why did the beast leave his prey?

"Lucas, if you don't mind can I kill all of them? Earlier I had killed a living thing for the first time, so it will help me overcome this hurdle." With half-truth, Max comes up with a reasonable reason to make Lucas agree to his request so he will be able to gain the Exp. Hearing him Lucas didn't find anything odd and agree on it, letting Max kill all five of those beasts.

With little to no effort Max took out his sword and one by one sliced their throats to kill them and cut them to take the crystals out of them. Compared to last time this time Max hand has gotten some of the black blood on it from killing beasts. And after killing them notifications of kill started showing up in front of him.

Seeing the screen message coming in front of him one by one Max was excited that he was getting closer to leveling up. After cleaning his hands' Max stood up and stored the crystals in the bag that he was carrying. With these five crystals, Max now had a total of six basic-tier crystals in his possession.

"Now that I have six crystals, I think it will be enough for me to fill the Exp. bar by half but I don't know how much Exp. a crystal will give, I'll use them later when we get back to the inn" thinking that Max gets back to others and started heading inside the forest where the beast might have gone to.
