After patching things up with Kwon, Rui spent the rest of the day meditating as part of her punishment. The meditation she'd been assigned had been hard, and more than once Rui had come out of it crying, having to wipe away her tears before beginning again.
She actually went over her normal meditation time, as she learned when Zai came knocking on her door in the afternoon. She had a clear pitcher of water and a set of folders under one arm, and she was dressed in her combat uniform, despite being on break.
"Rui, there's something we need to discuss," she said, sitting down and placing the pitcher of water on the nightstand. At first, Rui thought it might be some kind of weird training, but then Zai stood up and got the cups from next to the room's hot plate, where an unused tea kettle was sitting, and came back with them. She sat on Maya's bed, opposite Rui.
