Zai had shown up to Lutis in her dress uniform, ready to romance Amri with a bouquet of flowers, only to find she wasn't at the hotel. Fortunately, Amri had left a message with the hotel staff, so Zai was able to track her down at the hospital.
The boy Rui had fought was in a very painful but stable condition. A combination of painkillers and Amri walking him through meditation had him barely controlling the qi inside himself.
"It's remarkable..." Amri said, her tone academic, "I think Rui's attack broke through to his inner qi... if that kind of exposure is all it takes, maybe we can use this to make as many Risers as we want..."
"Remarkable or not, someone needs to get Rui before something happens," Zai replied, bringing Amri back into the moment.
