A LONG NIGHT.

Kylie POV.

Holding his hand firmly, we ran from the abandoned building into the dark of the night. During our conversation, Louis had spotted a broken glass on the table and with that, we were able to escape from Ryan's clutch. We had expected thugs to be at the doorstep but no one was seen till we got out and we suspected that maybe they had gone for a break.

"Ouch," I whispered when I felt something prick my leg, making me halt in my steps thereby also stopping Louis in the process. "I think it is a thorn."

"Would you be able to continue or we should stop to rest for a while?" He asked and I looked back to see the building, which was now disappearing into the night.

"They might have noticed that we aren't there and might have begun a search." I thought aloud. " Let's continue till we are assured of safety," I suggested.

With that, we continued to run, past trees and bushes for hours till we could spot a glimmer of light far away from where we stood and we ran faster not until something caught my leg which made me fall forward.

"Kylie, are you okay?" Louis asked bending down.

"I'm fine," I said breathlessly from the running as I tried to stand up but fell back down. "Just a minute." I chuckled nervously, trying again and I was about to fall down but thankfully Louis was faster as he grabbed my waist.

"I don't think your legs can carry you far."

"They can." I defended.

"Then show me." he released me from his grasp and u tried walking but pain shot through my ankle making me whimper.

"You see." He said as he snaked his hand back to my waist. " I guess I'll have to be your support," he said and I placed my hand on his shoulder so I could stand well.

"Thanks," I muttered as we continued slowly in the direction of the light.

We are almost there when we heard voices far behind us.

"It must be Ryan," I said and we walked faster but due to the increased pace, the pain in my ankle became unbearable. "I can't." I winced in pain.

"You can, we just need to go on for some minutes so we can get help."

"I can't go that far. You should go on without me, I'll catch up with you later."

"You think I'm a fool to leave you here or do you not realize that if we spend much time here, that monster would surely catch up with us? Apart from him, don't you think that there would be animals looking for prey in this place," he said and I laughed. " You think this is funny, it is either we go together or I'll stay here with you and Ryan would catch up with us, making all of this a waste of time and energy."

"Louis, don't be a child."

"You know I can't leave you alone. How do you want Kim to feel when she gets back to find out that you are gone? If you can't do this for me, would you think of Kim?" he pleaded.

"When she gets home tell her that I love her and also miss her a lot."

"You're sure a crazy one." he shook his head and before I knew it, I was already in his arms.

"Drop me." I struggled to get out of his arms but he only held me firmly and continued walking. "I'll only slow you down," I complained and I have up struggling when he ignored me.

'Even in this kind of situation how does he gets more handsome.' I wondered after some minutes of silence as I looked up at him. ' Frankly speaking Kylie, no man has ever cared for you like how this man does, and unknowingly to him, he's gradually stealing his way to my heart which makes it hard for me to drift away from him. I have noticed that the farther I try to get away from him the closer we later end up. I've come to realize...'

"... right here."

'He doesn't know this but Louis Vale already won my heart over.'

" Kylie." he shook me softly, breakup through my thoughts and I became embarrassed when I saw he had caught me staring.

"Are you listening to me or you are now mesmerized by my face?" he smirked and I blushed harder. "You are just so beautiful." I couldn't feel my cheeks anymore due to the intensity of the blushing and I heard him chuckle so I hit him." Ouch, what's that for?" he asked pretending to be pained.

"That's for...." I paused when I saw a glint of amusement on his face. "What were you saying?" I asked changing the course of the discussion.

"Look," he said nodding his head forward

In front of us was a cabin, which was barely visible and I looked at Louis to see him beaming with joy

"Shall we?" Nodding my head in approval, we entered the cabin.

The cabin seemed to belong to a farmer as farming tools could be found at every corner of the small room.

"We can stay here for the night," he suggested, looking around and I chuckled. " What is that for?" he asked for the second time today.

"I was thinking." I simply said.

"Thinking about what?" he asked curiously.

"Well, I was thinking how Mr. Louis Vale, the owner of k and v lies in such a place like this."

"Why? What are you insinuating?"

"I am just saying that this isn't your soft, comfy bed, this is the bare floor and you aren't going to get any sleep."

"Are you daring me?" he raised an eyebrow.

" No, how can I dare the mighty Mr. Vale? I mean who am I? I was just stating the obvious." I smiled sheepishly. " Now would you please put me down?" I asked, attempting to get down.

"What if I don't?" he pulled me closer to him.

"I don't think you'll like what I'll do," I smirked.

"What can a naive lady like you do?"

"A naive lady like me can do things." I grinned.

"Things like what?" he asked bringing his face closer to mine.

"You wouldn't want to know." I teased him by placing my hand on his chest.

"What if I tell you that I'm still interested in knowing what you can do?"

"If you're so interested like you day, you'll have to drop me first."

"So you can escape fr...." I hushed him by placing my finger on his lips.

"You talk too much, drop me first," I said mischievously.

"As you wish m'lady," he said, slowly moving his plush lips against my fingers and I suddenly felt giddy.

Carefully he dropped me on the floor and I moved on closer to him.

"You should know, you are not supposed to act like this with me," I said as I adjusted his crumpled collar.

"Why?"

"There's Helen." I paused what I was doing to look at his eyes. "Who must be waiting patiently for you at home and she could be heartbroken, seeing us like this," I said as I began limping away from him.

"You know," he said pulling me back to him so that our faces were just inches apart. "She might have been my first love but I have come to realize that she is in the past and not my present as I have found someone else," he said and my heart skipped a beat.

"Really?" I sounded surprised so that the sadness and hurt I felt won't show.

"Yeah and I think she would be the perfect wife and mother to Kim."

"Do I know her?"

"Yeah, I think you have seen her." he grinned.

"She must be lucky and a wonderful person for you to talk about her like this."

"Yeah she is but she's a hard nut to crack and I'll need your help."

"My help?" I asked confused.

"Yeah, she seems to avoid me whenever I try talking to her and she doesn't speak her mind to me. What can I do to convince her that she can confide in me?"

"Well, I think you'll have to try hard to convince her in every way and don't push her hard."

"I've tried it but she is too stubborn."

"Well if that's the case." I paused as I thought of what I could say. " You have to show her how much you love her," I said as I tried to go sulk in a corner of the room but he held me tighter at my wrist.

"What?" I asked pissed and the next thing I knew his lips were on mine.
