A Burning City

He looked towards the broken window, in a mindless daze as he tried to refocus himself.

Smacking his head a few times he began walking towards it.

The roof of the building in front of him was empty, unsure of where the mages were, Venator began climbing up the building's roof.

At the top, his back was immediately smacked, sending him back on his stomach.

Quickly getting up, a single mage awaited him a few roofs away.

Anger now hit Venator's mind at the sight of the lone mage, holding a short blade and fire.

Now more light footed from a sudden boost of anger, Venator charged at the mage. From roof to roof he continued moving around, dodging orbs of fire headed straight for him.

In one final jump he raised his sword, readying a strike for the mage. At the very last second, his sword missed, the mage moved to the side. Quickly the mage began attacking with his own sword. Venator was pushed on the defensive, moving back as the mage was attacking faster and faster.

The two engaged each other, shifting from attacking to defending on both sides as the kingdom around them burned and remaining soldiers running away or fighting through the fire, the mages though were still unseen.

In a final slash, Venator finally broke through the mage's defense. Both were exhausted as they looked at each other, the mage bore a face of fear as he realized what had happened while Venator looked emotionless.

The mage fell dead after a long fought battle. Venator stood victorious with wounds from the blade.

"Where are the other mages?" Venator began jumping on other roofs, hunting for more enemies or mages to fight as shouts roared on from different streets.

Immediately Venator returned to crowd clearing, sending fire down the streets, burning soldiers while they fought, quickly forcing them out of the broken gates and walls as he continued his assault on them with no end.

The soldiers dwindled in number, more fell while droves turned tail.

In his assault, an orb of flame darted at his head, in fast reflex Venator managed to dodge it, only getting a small burn on his cheek as he turned back.

The 2 mages of before were prepared to fight, both hands burned with fire.

With no time wasted he ran forward, catching the 2 off guard. He swung his sword violently, trying to hit one of them as they split, moving to different roofs to try and fight.

Venator targeted the armored mage first, his hand was now consumed with frost while he gripped his blood coated sword.

The two began fighting, Venator swung his sword at the opponent, only catching the armor as he moved around.

Venator continued fighting on, his blade continued meeting the slower mage's chestplate, cutting other parts of his body while he slung fire back. The mage on the other roof began growing fire in his hands, preparing for a single attack.

as it grew larger, a large stream of fire crashed into the roof the two both stood on, quickly setting it alight as Venator and the mage moved around, avoiding the fire.

"Is he trying to kill his own ally as well!?" Venator was confused while the fire raged around, feeling the roof begin breaking under him with each step.

The two quickly returned to fighting as more fire was thrown around, less room was open for them to move around, fire burning all around with smoke choking the roof, obscuring their surroundings.

The roof began breaking, chunks of lumber fell off charred, hitting the floor below. The two temporarily stopped fighting. The two leapt on different roofs, as their boots left the ground, the roof collapsed on itself.

In it's place, a plume of brown and black smoke as the top can no longer be seen. The fires in the streets began spreading to the upper areas of the homes.

The city seemed to be fully ablaze, smoke rose up high with the incoherent screams of soldiers and fighting ongoing in the distance. Through the smoke, Venator eyed the mage catching his breath after the attack, on another roof. The other mage though was nowhere to be seen.

With fire, he immediately slung a stream of blue flame at him. The mage sent his own stream of fire, orange in color, with small flickers of blue while it went on.

Venator slowly moved forward from his roof, putting in more strength to the stream, pushing it closer towards the weakened knight.

The blue flame finally broke through, the man and the roof beneath him were quickly consumed in a blue fire as Venator continued his attack, stopping a few seconds after with the roof and body burning brightly.

"Where's the last one?" Immediately after he though, a knife slammed into his chest through the smoke. He looked around, seeking the person who threw the knife.

More knives darted through the smoke, striking Venator where he stood, he ripped them off, gripping his blade tightly to kill the mage.

Knives went from all directions, Venator kept moving around, sustaining more wounds on his body as his energy depleted further.

Through one of the smoke plumes, the mage jumped through, clenching daggers in both hands.

The mage landed on top of Venator, sending him to the ground. Venator raised his arms up as he fought with the mage, now trying to stab him.

The two struggled on the ground as the mage repeatedly tried slamming down his blades, Venator with only a slimmer of enemy struggled for his life.

One of the daggers slipped through, lodging into Venator's shoulder. From the shock and growing anger, Venator threw a punch at the mage's face, sending him to the side.

Venator tore out the dagger, quickly standing up to walk towards the mage.

As the mage turned around to see Venator above him, he grabbed the mage by the tunic, in just a second, he drove the blade into the man's throat. His life slowly faded away, he removed the blade after a few seconds, seeing the mage's eyes become devoid of life.

The fight was over, Venator stood atop a roof surrounded by fire and smoke plumes. The mage lay dead, Venator held onto the knife.

"Maybe this can be a throwing weapon."
