Beaten but not Defeated

All at once, hordes from all directions ran forward at the walls of shields. Venator looked down at the ensuing charge below him, getting closer and closer to the shield wall.

"Hope i can reach those rooftops." Venator quickened his planning.

Standing above the rooftop, looking down at the running horde. His hands began burning evermore brightly.

The street soon was consumed by a wave of fire crashing down onto it, immediately soldiers writhed in pain, the fire grew larger and larger nearly consuming the entire street. The shield wall still held firm with fire simply hitting it with little effect.

Venator began moving down the roof, continuing the wave while soldiers behind started to run.

"Gotta make this faster now." He jumped roof to roof, getting closer to the walls as he kept on incinerating the ground beneath.

The first street was fully cleared, the screams of dying fighters slowly ceased with cavalry to infantry dying. But no sign of mages.

On other sides, the walls were being pushed back as the hordes began ramming their way through.

He eyed the roofs on the other side of the street, finding one closer to try and jump to.

Finding a suitable roof, he jumped towards it, above the flames burning. His arms managed to grab the roof as his body dangled above the fire, quickly hoisting himself back up.

Running to the next road, he made quick work of the soldiers underneath while they pushed against the wall. The tensions relaxed as they became consumed by fire.

Venator finished roof to roof, continuing his support on the roads as Bellunamien soldiers held the line.

While he continued attacking more roads, an arrow struck his chest, sending him back to a rooftop ground.

Around him, armored to robed figures climbed up towards him from the houses.

"So you're that mage that's been causing problems. Odd that a mage works for a country that hates their kind so much." One of them spoke as Venator got up, splitting off the arrow from his chest.

One of the mages approached Venator, dagger in hand as the others stared at him with enflamed or frost consumed hands.

Before he could even raise his hand, an arrow struck the mage's neck, killing him on the spot. The rest of the mages quickly looked around, confused at where the arrow came from.

In the confusion, a hail of arrows fell from the sky while Venator started sealing himself inside a dome.

Quickly the arrows struck the mages, breaking through hastily formed walls of ice, striking any mages present.

Upon stopping, he got back up, snapping his fingers in the process.

Arrows littered the rooftop, the mages all lay dead as multiple arrows hit every part of their body. Behind him, on the cathedral was a unit of archers looking towards him, the general stood with them. He waved in gratitude before continued with assaulting other areas.

Soon, the hordes dwindled in number, the remaining groups fell back in fear, holding the line near the gates and walls or retreating out. Venator chased them down, getting farther down the kingdom.

While he burned the ground under him, torching fighters near the gates, multiple hooded and armored figures climbed up to the roof. Their hands were consumed by fire or frost while they looked him down.

Venator turned around, finishing his support on the area.

"About 50 or more mages, dead, in just a day or two." One of them spoke.

The rest stood their ground, the fire in their hands grew larger while Venator stood, trying to keep calm and collected with the fatigue he has gained.

In quick response Venator channeled frost into his left hand. With a second not spared he struck the rooftop, spikes of ice thrusted in all directions, the mages fell back, falling off the ledges, jumping on different roofs while few became impaled almost immediately.

Venator felt more stress from using more of his power.

Despite it, he took out his blade preparing for combat once again.

He readied orbs of flame in his hand as he clenched his sword.

Venator threw fire at one of the mages while they moved around, slinging their own at him. Fire and ice struck parts of the roof where he stood, causing small piles of fire to begin and holes to spawn above it.

Slowly holes and burns riddled the roof above, feeling it each step as if the roof was about to fall.

He jumped roof to roof, engaging mages individually while more orbs were slung at his directions. Burns and shards riddled his body, but anger began bellowing inside him, giving a new sense of energy and endurance as his own fire turned blue once again.

He slashed at each mage as more began falling, slowly their numbers dwindled again while his body sustained more injuries, making each step and each action more stressed than before, feeling slower than before but still moving forward.

Continuing with the fight, Venator jumped to another roof, fire slammed into his stomach, pushing him back to the edge. He grabbed onto a part of the roof as he dangled above fire below, the stress quickly set in on his arm, feeling his grip weaken.

With pain spiking in his arms from shards of ice tearing into it and burns leaving scorched flesh on it, he got back up.

In front of him, the last 3 mages stood together, their hands were ready to throw flame at Venator.

He raised his hands forward, forming a wall of ice in front of him. But the orbs were already thrown.

Breaking through the hastily made thin wall of ice, the orbs slammed into Venator all at once, Venator was thrown from the roof, crashing down to a window of the building behind him. He clattered on the ground as glass shards fell around him, slamming into wooden furniture in the process.

Venator felt dizzy, slowly sensing his exhaustion try taking a hold of him as he got up. Large burn marks were left on his body, burning through pieces of his clothes into his flesh.

Now with little energy left, he began rushing to heal himself as fires burned inside the house under him.
