Synopsis

A sad love story or the greast unknown.

Chapter 1Boring Class

Lina was disappointed. Life has always been boring, well sort off. She'd never enjoy playing video games but it was that or fall to sleep.

Mr. Yang's droning voice. Even if the class was half as sleep he was still going on about the use of adjustive in creative writing they had been covering for the past hour and forty-five minutes.

The man was a great English teacher, but she would swear on Buddha's belly that he was cursed with every stupid student. Those that only got in through connection and being good at other things or just had the money.

The game, on the other hand, was much more interesting than she thought. It was based loosely on a hit anima that was about a chemist making potions for the supernatural like vampires and werewolf. The potions were a complicate to ingredient up to a hundred that you had to cook stir and chop. You trade potions for rare ingredient and grow stronger. OR there was the option of drinking the potion and upgrade your level so you could go out into the woods to find your own ingredient.

A full hour pass and the bell rang. Lina grabbed her bag and crookedly sprinted for the door. She was about to die from boredom. The game was a bit slow since she levels up to 100 and was a granted the title of a full alchemist.

She didn't miss the whispers and looks the other students gave her, but as usual, she ignored them. She was just a foot from freedom when Mr. Yang called her back.

"Ms. Lina, may I talk to you a moment?"

She looked longingly towards the exit as her classmates began to leave. She was supposed to meet her friend Tiger later, but she could always just give her a call. She turned her head to look back at him.

"Is it really important?"

"Yes."

She looked back at the door. Tiger was going to be pissed, but he looked serious. She sighed and walked back to his desk where he was now shuffling some papers.

He sat down and got comfortable while she stood awkwardly in front of him. Mr. Yang was one of her favorite teachers. He had only kept her after class once before, to ask that she give some one-on-one help after school to a failing student.

"And so I've arranged an independent study course instead of class for you. I will give you all of your assignments for the rest of the year to be worked on independent of the class. Your other teachers have agreed and will be talking to you later to give you their own assignments. Instead of reporting to your regular English classes, you will report to the librarian. It stated in school policy, for a circumstance like you. There you will work in the library for an extended period of six hours every day. You can, of course, stay longer, but the four hours a day is the minimum needed. Do you have any questions?"

Her mouth was hanging wide open and she was pretty sure that was drool on the floor.

"Are you serious?" she squealed.

"Uh, yes." He looked a little taken back by her small outburst.

"Oh, thank God!" She did a happy little twirl. "You have no idea how happy this makes me. Thank you so, so much!" She spun away and half ran for the door in her excitement.

"Goodbye, Ms. Lina! And work hard!"

Her words provoked even greater waves of disdain within the doctors' community. Relatives who were doctors ridiculed her mercilessly: "Do you know how high the admission scores are for medical students? Do you think you can make it?" "There are zero female chief chest surgeons in the country. Who do you think you are!" A bunch of people mocked her: "You'll probably only get into a third-rate medical college and end up as a health worker in a small county town. It's easy to imagine what sort of marriage you'll have." After the college entrance exams, Xie Wanying entered the top surgical class in the country with the highest science scores in the province, with department heads in the Capital’s top-tier hospitals vying for her from her internship beginnings.
