32. I Made These?

With everything he needed sitting on the workbench, Lance took a breath and started to focus. As he touched the Blades on the bench, a window opened up.

Obviously, he was going to build his swords. He took the first blade, the bluish one. He slid the guard on and tightened it to the blade. He added the bone after and slid it on. He took a couple of strips of leather he made and tied it tightly around the handle. He does the same to the other sword.

The claws were the last things he needed to add. He picked them up, one at a time, and shaped them into a pummel. With the final piece ready, he adds them to his swords.

Now his first pair of swords finished, he took a step back and looked at them.

Lance's eyes shot wide, a purple weapon so soon. He felt like his luck was changing for the good now. 'A purple weapon, but I'm too low to use it.' His excitement soon faded when he saw he needed to be level twenty.

Lokarn was watching everything. Lance's skills surprised him. He never expected a child to be able to craft anything, let alone a sword, especially one that just watched him the other day. He got up from his chair and headed over to Lance. He took a long look at the swords. "Hmmm, these are really good. But the one seems too strong for you right now." He began looking around his shop, looking high and low for something, but not finding what he needed. He remembered Lance showed him rare materials, "Do you still have some wolf pieces left?"

Lance did indeed have some left. He pulled out all the Beta and Alpha wolf parts except the Beta hides, he wanted to see if he could get those crafted into armor.

Lokarn grabbed the Alpha hide and bones, The beta claws, and two Beta bones. "Move kid!" He pushed Lance aside and started to work. His hands moved fast, Lance could hardly see them. Befitting expert craftsmanship.

Minutes passed and Lokarn focused hard. After a while, he stepped back. He crafted two sheaths for the swords and laid them on the workbench.

Lance walked over and took a look at them.

"Wow, these are amazing!" Lance was visibly in awe. With them, he would be closer to being able to use these powerful swords.

"These are nothing. If I had better material I'd...." Lokarn paused and looked over to the table with the note. Lance swore he could see the sadness in the old man's eyes, but Lokarn spoke, "Listen, kid, you did a really good job here. But you can't come back here again." He didn't mind Lance showing up, in fact, he kinda likes the company. But whatever that note said had Lokarn thinking.

"Did I do something wrong, old man?" Lance was kinda sad. This man gave him really good equipment and even helped him craft an epic pair of swords.

"No, no kid. I won't be here anymore. That's all." Lokarn was gonna be moving, but he didn't want to explain himself to Lance. "Now if you don't mind, I have things I need to do. Now scram!" He tried to push Lance out the door.

"Will I ever see you again?" Lance was hoping to keep Lokarn around. He may be able to craft his own gear now, but having a blacksmith as a friend could benefit him greatly. If he didn't have time to craft he could ask Lokarn, at a price of course.

Lokarn lets out a long sigh. "I don't know kid." He took a glance around his workshop. He spotted a pen and some paper just on the front counter. He quickly scribbled something down and handed the paper to Lance "Here, Now scram!" And with that, he shoved Lance out the door and slammed it behind him.

'What did he give you?' Vixen was trying to read it but Lance held it folded in his hand.

'His number.' Lance just stared at the door for a while. Lokarn was a sour old man, but he grew on Lance. Thinking that he now has Lokarn's phone number, he may be able to call him later on. But for now, there wasn't much he could do.

Lance held the swords in his hands and looked at the sheaths. Lance looked up to the sky, hoping to see him again. He shook his head and the thoughts away, then looked to Vixen, 'Time for armor. Where to?'

'Oh, Yes, armor. Let's do that.' Vixen was a little surprised. She saw Lance was sad and thought they would call it a day. Either way, at his request she opened the map and led them to the nearest clothier.

Along the way, Lance added the experience so he could equip the sword. Now sitting at level 16, he felt he was one step closer to being safe. Or at least, safer.

'We will see him again Lance. You can bet on it.' Vixen tried to reassure him, With a big smile across her face.

'I know, That's why he gave me his number. I think he wants me to contact him at some point.' Lance became resolute. He would focus on finding a way to bring old man Lokarn with him on his adventures. He just needed time and funds.
