33. Another Sub-Class?

With half of his equipment upgraded, he now only needed armor. His current armor was pretty good, it kept him alive so far. But it's breaking down and looks torn up. 'There is the Clothier up this street.' Vixen led them to a few shops already, but the quality of armor they found didn't meet what Lance needed. They were all basic gear with no bonus attributes or anything, stuff you could find in any beginner city of video games.

A few of the shopkeepers pointed Lance in the direction of a particular craftsman. They warned him of their peculiar requirements. They said if he didn't have rare material, the craftsmen won't even talk to him. That alone made Lance want to meet them. With materials in hand, he set off to find this craftsman. He wanted gear that added to his stats, and gear that would protect him. Common gear won't cut it for him.

'This should be it'. Vixen took note of the location the other shopkeepers told them about and led them straight there. Always handy as Lance's little GPS.

'Good, The Suns are almost down, I want to get back as soon as possible.' They stood outside a tall building on the main street. The front of the building had big windows with a wide array of armor on display. From leather to cloth, and even chitin. What stood out to Lance were the runes. Each armor had runic on them, so he knew these were what he was looking for.

Lance took a look at the glass door, it had the shop's name printed on it. 'Tiffany's Legendary Clothier'. 'Wouldn't you say she is a little conceited?' Lance couldn't help but think this person is overestimating her crafts. His only other experience with someone else in the trade was Lokarn, and he had the skills to be legendary. So Lance couldn't see how this person could ever be as good. Either way, Lance decided to enter the shop. The walls were lined with shelves full of armor. Every piece someone could ever need was here. From Leather vests, gauntlets, and helmets, all the way to cloth boots and chitin guards. Along the back wall was the counter where a woman was leaning against the counter reading a book. She didn't even move when Lance walked in.

The woman was a Voltarin. Lance remembered that from his experience with Sharna. The lady behind the counter had long blonde hair, tied in a ponytail. She had white, almost pale skin. And the tell-tale pointed Voltarin ears. Lance had to stop for a minute after he saw her outfit. She was wearing a short red top that went to just above her navel. The neck went in a V-neck that went past her breasts a fair bit. Lance thought if she jumped, her tits would fall out.

"If you came to stare at my tits, get out!" Without looking from her book she scolded Lance as she turned the page.

"No, I ah, actually came for a custom order." Lance still couldn't take his eyes off her chest. They were right there, hanging for the world to see. And they weren't small either. He compared them to cantaloupes.

'If you wanna see tits that bad, I can show you mine!' Vixen was visibly upset. She crossed her arms around her chest and glared at Lance. When she chose her form for Lance, she chose one that she knew he would find attractive. She chose a small bust size because that was what Lance had thought she looked like and hoped that he wouldn't mind. But seeing him ogle the big breasts of this woman had made her regret her choice.

Tiffany looked at Lance after he stated why he was there. She took a long hard look up and down. After seeing his tattered gear, and his outward appearance, she went back to her book before replying, "Sorry, you don't have what I need". She figured that a young kid with crappy armor wouldn't be able to find a shiny pebble, let alone rare materials for her crafts.

Not willing to give up, Lance pulls out the bones and hides from his inventory, and places them on the counter without another word.

Tiffany looked at the animal parts and her eyes grew wide. A huge smile formed on her face. "Maybe you do have what I need." She looked through all the parts, inspecting every one thoroughly.

"I need new leather armor, and I want it crafted with this." Lance had a big grin when he spoke. Then the system chimed in.

'A new Sub-Class. I want it.' With greed in his eyes, he formulated plans to convince her. "So, How much is it gonna cost?" Starting with money as his first choice, he hoped that her seeing he had the money she would accept teaching him.

Tiffany looked through the items and thought for a bit. "As long as I don't have to add any of my materials, fifteen hundred UACs." She stood up straight and grabbed her chin as she fell into deep thought. "But with this quality, I'm gonna have to. You don't seem to have any rare metals or gems on you. So I think two thousand seven hundred and fifty UACs should cover the cost of the added materials." She didn't take her eyes off the animal parts. She leaned back down and started petting the hides. Lance could swear she was drooling over everything.

"I can do that. One other request, Can you teach me how to craft armor?" He wasn't gonna miss this opportunity. He felt that just asking straight out would at least get things started and maybe catch her off guard enough to accept, especially since she was distracted.

She looked up at him, figuring she gave him a deal, or as much of a deal as she liked, she didn't think he had much money. After thinking for a minute she decided to decline "No, you can't afford it!" She goes back to eyeing the parts.

Lance was unwilling to give up so easily, he pulled out and placed five thousand UAC on the counter. "Is this enough?" With his big toothy grin, he stood proud.

Tiffany looked at it and was surprised. She didn't think he had money. "Who did you steal this from?!" There was no way a boy like him could have this much money. She had half a mind to call the guards and have Lance arrested.

"I earned it." Lance had a sour look on his face. He couldn't believe someone thought he stole, "I'm joining the city guard." Had it not been for the quest, and the ability to gain a new sub-class he probably would have freaked out on her for her remark.

Tiffany accepted his answer even though she was still skeptical. After all, he had money and she wanted it. She has done custom orders for some high-rank guards all the time, So it's not unexpected to have money. "Fine, just come to the back and pay attention. I won't give a refund if you can't grasp the idea of tailoring." She grabs the money and the monster parts and heads into the back, with Lance following closely behind. "Stay close and watch. I won't repeat myself."

Tiffany Placed all the materials on the workbench. She grabbed a measuring tape and took measurements of Lance and wrote them down on a pad of paper that sat on the desk. After writing down all the numbers, she took a marker and started to draw lines on the hide. Shapes of shirts, boots, and pants could be made out. And some other shapes. She cut into the lines and explained her process, "First you make the design you want. Keep in mind that the material will also shrink or expand depending on how you treat it after."

After cutting all the pieces out, She took the remaining hide and cut strips. She brought the cut designs over to the stitching machine, "First you stitch together the inside of the armor." She started with the chest armor, she made it look so simple and easy. Once she was done the finished product looked like a crude shirt. She then went and stitched the rest of the pieces except the ones that looked like boots.

She stood up and wiped her brow then turned to Lance, "Now that was the easy part. Next, I will teach you about the modifications." She goes back over to the workbench and grabs all the monster parts, as well as some pieces of metal and what looks like gems.

"I only deal with high-quality parts because it's much more intricate. A steady hand is required, but it produces better equipment. I prefer my customers to come back alive so I can extor... Ummmmm. So I can have a continuous flow of money." Tiffany was trying to explain why she wouldn't use common materials. It made sense to Lance, but now he was feeling like he made a mistake. This woman could try to rob him blind if he didn't watch his pockets.
