The Apex Alpha

Seth was a legendary assassin with metahuman abilities. He was so feared that a country was willing to risk sending all of their metahumans as well as the many metahuman mercenaries they hired in order to bring him down after he killed several political leaders and their families. After killing several thousand metahumans, Seth was finally brought down. But he was fine with it. He knew that with all the damage that he had caused, he would eventually be killed. And he was prepared for his death and he regretted nothing. What he was not prepared for though, was what came after. -------- Hmmm. Death has relieved me of all this pain that all those bastards had caused me. The only thing I am disappointed about is not being able to spend all that money I made. What is that light? I know that I would not head to heaven and there is too little cackling for hell. Where am I? I've been reincarnated? Interesting! I read novels about that when I was younger but never expected it to be true. Wait. What? What happened to my reincarnation and golden finger? Note: Art is not mine. Credit to the original owner/s (I like to change my cover art around at first) and will take it down if they got an issue with it or I just wanna change it.

Chapter 7: After Kill

A teardrop-shaped drone was watching Alex passed out on the ground. This was one of Seth's drones that he had sent out the first night he had arrived. One of his weapons allowed him to summon two drones that he was connected with through a hive mind.

Although these drones had low combat powers, they were small, fast, and stealthy, making for excellent scouts. One of them was used to keep an eye on Alex even when he was sleeping in order to assure that nothing killed Seth in his sleep and when he could not 'see' through Alex.

Seth had been using the other one to gather information as much as he could but the results were not too ideal. Any place that had valuable information would be highly guarded so his drones might get destroyed if they got too close.

And even if the place was lacking in security, his drone was unable to get anything more than what it could see. It could not interact with any computers or books due to its sharp point which usually ended up tearing things.

Even still, using it, he was at least able to gain a basic understanding of the world that Alex seemed to be ignorant of. The first was the level of technology. While it was much further behind than his, he knew it was due to the lack of technical Alphas. Most Alphas were divided into 3 categories: combat, technical, and support.

Combat Alphas were pretty straight forward. Their abilities shined and focused on combat. They were also divided into offensive and defensive types. These were the most numerous and most common of the Alphas, but also the one to most with the most diversity in tiers.

Technical Alphas were abilities that required resources to make full use of them such as an inventor or someone who increased the properties of already existing items. While they were the rarest type of Alphas, they were usually tier-4 and higher.

Support Alphas were the strangest. They had abilities that did not fully fit into either category. Someone with telepathy, clairvoyance, healing, and the like. Many also came with secondary or even third abilities that fit into one of the other two roles but their main ability was support related.

Alphas were more numerous than he initially thought but still nowhere close to the numbers in his old world.

Where a moderately sized organization would have nearly 2,000 in his world, the current world barely had 10,000 throughout the entire place. Every one of them was highly valued regardless of their tier. Alphas were so rare that all these orphanages that were sponsored were basically lottery tickets with people hoping for the children to develop powers.

And the high school that Alex thought that Samantha transferred to was not the 1st high school in the city but instead the 1st international high school which only allowed in children of politicians, world leaders, billionaires, Alphas, or Alphas themselves.

Back to Alex though. The drone was meant to be Alex's, or better to say Seth's, protector. If anything truly dangerous approached Alex, Seth would have killed it. He actually did during the past week.

Alex would have been mugged by guys with knives once already if not for the drone scouting ahead and finding them. Although it had weak combat potential compared to most armed humans and combat Alphas, it could easily take out 3 men armed with knives. The group did not even have a chance to scream.

Back to Alex, Again! The drone watched over Alex's body until it saw one of the boys return with two paramedics. But the pair were shocked by what they saw. They figured Alex would be alone and injured but neither was prepared for a dead body.

The teen threw up before passing out like a wimp/normal teenager seeing a dead body. The paramedics looked at the boy who fainted before sighing.

"I'll check this kid. You check the Alpha. That other one is definitely dead already."

The other paramedic disagreed with him though.

"We need to check on that guy first. Even if he looks like that, we need to make sure before we write him off as dead."

The first paramedic sneered at his colleague's words.

"You are just afraid of the Alpha burning you to death like he did this kid."

His companion's face turned red but he did not deny it after being exposed.

"So what? I am still supposed to check on him. You go do what you want. I will make sure that kid is really a goner."

The second paramedic ignored his companion and went to check on Liam's burnt corpse and did several tests for several minutes to confirm that Liam was dead. By the time he was done, his companion had boarded the other boy into the ambulance, called backup, and was standing next to Alex without going too close to him.

Seeing that his companion was also afraid, the second one sneered at him and stood next to him. It seemed like the pair reached a silent agreement to not touch Alex and wait for the others to arrive.

After another 10 minutes, members of the Association showed up. This pair of man and woman looked like secret agents straight out of a comic book with their matching black suits and sunglasses.

They pulled out a device that Seth assumed was used to test if someone was an Alpha before pointing it at Alex. A small green beam left the device before forming a grid over Alex's body.

After hearing the device beep, the pair looked at it before determining something. They grabbed Alex and put him in their vehicle before they drove off, all while saying not a single to word to either of the paramedics or the kid who brought them there.

They did not even bother about the dead body on the ground and left it for the paramedics and regular police to handle.
