Chapter 8: The Association

Alex woke up feeling groggy. Before he even could get his bearings and open his eyes, the memories of Liam burning to death while screaming in agony came flooding back to him. If Alex had anything left to vomit, he most likely would have.

Alex took a few more minutes to recompose himself before he opened his eyes and ready to face the world. But instead of the charred body of Liam that he was expecting to see, he was in a white room. And judging by the various machines and how spotless it was, it was a hospital room.

Alex finally noticed that he was not on a hard concrete floor but was instead on a soft and fluffy bed. He was both anxious and thankful for his new location instead of the warehouse.

Thankful because he did not have to see the sight of the boy 'he' killed. Anxious because it meant that someone else had found out what happened and he may be going to jail for murder.

'This kid is so stupid. If they wanted to arrest him, he would have security present and ready to take him down the second he awakened as well as being restrained instead of being able to move about freely.'

Seth did not share these thoughts though. He continued to do what he had been doing for the past month, observing and occasionally interfering.

After waiting on his bed anxiously for 10 minutes, Alex could hear someone approaching his room. There were 5 people approaching with 3 females and 2 males but one of the voices was very familiar to Alex.

"As I said, Ripper, he will be fine. He simply passed out due to stress," One of the male voices said.

"I don't care. Make sure he wakes up or else I will break both of your legs," The familiar voice said. It was obvious that 'Ripper' was Ms. Lily.

'Makes sense that she has a nickname like that. From what I could gather from the occasional use of her powers as well as the level of danger I sensed from her, she should be a tier-4 or 5. Only someone around that level would be trusted with protecting a farm of potential Alphas.'

"Calm down. I know you raised this kid but relax. You know that the Doc knows what he is doing. Cause if he is wrong, I would burn down that multi-million dollar home of his," said another feminine voice.

The other two speakers did not say anything more than the mummers that Alex and Seth heard while they were down the hall. It was obvious that they did not want to get involved with the two mad women.

The group entered the room and saw that Alex was sitting up and awake. One of the men and one of the women of the group were wearing scrubs with one wearing a doctor's coat over his. The other pair of strangers were wearing suits that screamed 'I work for the government or some sort of secret organization.'

It was only Seth who focused on these people. Alex's eyes traveled to one person and did not leave her. As soon as he saw her, tears began to pool in his eyes before they fell down his face as he whimpered and made his scarred face look even uglier.

Ms. Lily rushed over and gave Alex a hug under the teasing eyes of the secret agent looking people and doctor-nurse duo. Since Alex had his eyes open while he hugged her, Kaiba was able to study the other 4 in the room.

Neither the doctor nor the nurse gave off a sense of danger to Seth so it was harder to tell where their powers ranked but Kaiba figured they were not too high.

'This kid is not that important that the higher-ranked people would come for him. I would say that they should be tier-3 at most. Those other 2 are a different story.

The woman is definitely a tier-4 Alpha. Although I may being too harsh, she may be higher but her ability does not seem dangerous to me, even without all my other weapons.

That man, on the other hand, I feel like I should stay away from him. He does not seem too powerful though so he is either one of those anti-ability users or he has something to do with manipulating metal so my instincts naturally don't like him since he can use my weapons.

Either way, I will watch out for this guy.'

Ms. Lily comforted Alex for a few minutes with the others watching over them. Even if Alex and her did not feel embarrassed about their behavior, Seth and the others did. The secret agent woman coughed to remind the pair of their presence.

Hearing the cough, Ms. Lily did not act embarrassed but instead patted Alex's back a few times before releasing her hug and standing up. She looked at the group as if nothing had just happened.

It was only now that Alex truly noticed the others and his face went crimson in embarrassment. The others had small smiles on their faces as they approached the bed. The doctor and nurse went over to Alex and began checking the equipment, his body, and asking him some basic questions.

Neither mentioned the dead body since it was the other duo's job to address that. They simply did what they needed to do to ensure that Alex was alright. Once they were done with the medical checkup, they said some medical babble before leaving the group in the room to speak to each other in private.
