Back to the past timeline.

I was lying on my bed, my eyes wide open, staring at the ceiling as I thought about everything that has happened in my life. 

There haven't been a lot of instances in my life when I've been happy. Life has always kinda sucked for me.

My father abandoned me and my mom when I was 6 years old. I don't even think I remember what he looked like. If he were to walk right into me on the street someday, I don't think I'd recognize him. Or him me. That in itself is the saddest thing of all. 

And as if that wasn't enough, life had to screw me over again. 

I was a 14-year-old teenager, struggling to adjust to the big bad world of high school when, suddenly, trying to avoid being the mean girls' target wasn't the only problem in my life. My mom, my only family, the only person I loved more than anyone else in this whole world was suddenly on the brink of death-- she was diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma.
