"So, you're telling me that you broke up with Jordan in real life but you're going to have to keep fake dating him?" Maddy asked as she organized the cash register. 

I nodded nibbling on the cheese sandwich Maddy made for me. "Yeah." 

It was late in the night and the cafe was closed. There was no one else in the cafe besides Maddy and me. I was sitting at the counter on a barstool while Maddy continued to work. She was able to stand without a crutch now. Her fracture was almost healed as well. 

"Do you not see how epically doomed this deal is?" She raised her eyebrows in ridicule. 

I sighed, dropping the sandwich on the plate in front of me. "We have to keep pretending. I signed a contract for 3 months." 

"Man, this has to be the suckiest thing ever," she said and then put her hand over mine. "Oh, Sky, I'm so sorry."
