Relationship's my enemy - 1

Naoto rarely had time off but when he did it was time well spent for the couple. He never specifically told Y/n information about his investigations; it wasn't legal and he didn't want her to worry about his safety or her own wellbeing. All Y/n knew was that Naoto's current case was weighing heavy on his heart and his sleep cycle. He survived off energy drinks and power naps. Mornings after rolling around in his sheets all night, Y/n would let him sleep in as long as his body allowed. She'd wait around with a coffee in her hand, tidying up the apartment he barely used. It was more like a hotel room instead of a home, no personal touches but he wasn't exactly the kind of man to indulge in material possessions. Y/n was currently cuddled up in the windowsill of his living room, its nook large enough to sit in. Using the few pillows the couch had to offer and a blanket, she made a nest to read her newest novel.

Fifty-five. She was fifty-five pages in when Naoto emerged from his room, cell phone in hand and sour look on his face. She cocked her eyebrow up, "Needed in the office?" she sighed heavily. Naoto looked apologetic but professional, "Yes. Something big just came up in my case. I need to bring you home right now." She could only agree, getting up quickly. Heading to his room to change out of Naoto's shirt and into the comfortable clothes she had brought along for their sleepover. They both got dressed at the same time then shared the sink to brush their teeth. They made quick work of getting out the door and into his car.

The car ride was silent, but Naoto made sure to leave his girlfriend with a passionate kiss goodbye. "I promise to make this up to you." he said sincerely and then waited for Y/n to be inside her apartment building before driving off. The call from this morning told him he had to make it to Aoyama Cemetery as soon as possible. He threw on his lights and raced to the scene of the potential crime. Upon arrival there were already several other detectives from the criminal organization division investigating what looked to be a hole in the ground. "What're we looking at?" Naoto asked his fellow detective as he stepped out of his car. The man opened his notepad and deeply exhaled, "Only witness we've got is one of the groundskeepers. Based on his testimony and description it looks like this is the work of the Haitani brothers. Tachibana, uh, if after you see this you need some time I understand, but I think it'll be in your best interest to spend the next couple of days at the precinct." Naoto stopped in his tracks and furrowed his eyebrows at his coworker. He was going to say something but stopped and continued onto the taped off section of the cemetery. As he approached, the other detectives gave him sympathetic looks or just completely ignored eye contact with him all together. His heart stopped, thinking of all the previous timelines where he got the news that his sister had been murdered. He prepared himself for the absolute worst and looked into the hole in the ground.

A store mannequin. Inside the hole was a store mannequin wearing a men's suit. It's body was riddled with slash marks from what could only be made by a serrated hunting knife. In the center of its forehead a bullet hole. Looped around the neck of the doll was a piece of white cardboard attached by a rope. Naoto felt nausea hit him with a ton force as he read the sign.

Here lies Detective Tachibana Naoto.

Rest in Pieces

Around the same time Naoto was reading the ominous note around the mannequin's neck Y/n's buzzer rang. Who could that be? I'm not expecting company. She held down the button to talk, "Hello, who is it?" She held down the Listen button, "Ms. Shiro? This is an officer from the Tokyo Police Department. I'm here because there's been an accident. Detective Tachibana specifically requested that an officer comes to pick you up." Y/n's stomach dropped. Naoto?! An accident?! She held down the talk button, "Yes of course. I'll put on my shoes and be right down." Should I call Hina? She's going to want to know if something happened to her brother. What time is .... she's working right now. I'll have the officer stop at her school or maybe I can call her at the station when I have more answers. Unless they're bringing me to the hospital, oh Naoto please be okay. She locked her door and descended the staircase making her way down to the lobby.

In the small glass entrance room of the building was an officer, fingers looped through his belt and shifting his weight on his feet while he waited. Y/n half waved to him when he looked up in her direction and she opened the door to let herself through. "You said an accident? Is he okay? Where is he?" The officer raised his hand to stop her from ranting, "Ms. Shiro please try to calm down. Everything will be okay; I've been ordered to bring you straight to him." Y/n nodded and followed the officer out of the building. "I've parked right this way." He pointed down towards where the apartment building met the run-down building next to it. Y/n picked up her pace, anxious and on the verge of tears. The possibilities of what could've happened to him were endlessly running through her mind.

The officer reached the end of the sidewalk first and looked back to make sure Y/n was following. As she approached the sound of an accelerating engine filled the air. She looked down the alley in the direction of the noise and a white moving van rampaged towards them. It halted in a loud screech; the sliding door opened wide. Bright blue eyes, that's all she saw at first. Time moved at a snail's pace as she took in the rest of the big picture. Sanzu Haruchiyo stood in the back of the vehicle, smiled a Cheshire grin, his eyes twinkling, he extended a hand out as if to take Y/n's hand in his to help her into the car.

"Hey there doll face, long time no see."

Y/n's body reacted despite her mind being dumbstruck. She twisted around, ducking low to get by the "officer" and began to run. She had to get back into the building, they can't get in without a key. "Oh, no you don't." Sanzu's breath was practically on the back of her neck. Quickly he bear hugged her from behind. One arm around her waist to lift her off the ground, turning her around. He slapped his other hand over her mouth. Thrashing, pulling, squirming, she tried what she could to get out of his grasp but to no avail. The last thing she remembered was a sharp pain in her neck, and then darkness.

Y/n woke up in a large, round bed. Her vision was doubled and she had a headache like a hangover. She rubbed her eyes and temples until she could clearly see her surroundings. She was in a large bedroom with a sliding closet covered in mirrors to her right, next to the closet was a half bathroom dimly lit by a plug in light, side tables on each side of her, a door in front, and a globe shaped light fixture above her head. It was black metal looped in circles, in its center crystals and small candle shaped lights. The entire room was black and red with gold accents, modern gothic and dripping with indulgence. To her left were heavy, velvet curtains that reached the floor. Y/n slowly crawled out of the bed, with every noise she made no matter how small she froze to look at the door. Finally reaching the curtains she flung them open, hoping that she wouldn't come face to face with another wall. She didn't. The bright light of outside caused her to step back, falling on her own feet. It had stunned her. She crawled back to the window and looked down. The height was gut wrenching, absolutely sickening. It gave her vertigo, and she had to sit back or she would've been sick.

On shaky legs she rose to her feet and closed the curtains, only leaving a small space open to illuminate the room. She followed the crack of light up onto the wall behind the bed. Above the headboard was a large gold-plated glass frame and inside of it pressed and preserved was a black and gold Toman jacket. The memory of what had occurred before she woke up had flashed through her mind and in that moment, she remembered that she had been kidnapped by Sanzu Haruchiyo.

Sanzu had been pacing around his apartment all afternoon. He'd stop at his bedroom door, go to unlock it and then stop himself. His anxiety was killing him. Alright, Y/n, now don't be mad. Fuck of course she's going to be mad. Alright, Y/n, I know you're mad but I just wanted, no needed, to see you. You've been in Tokyo this whole time? This whole time I thought you were gone forever. I thought I would never have the chance to apologize to you. Just give me a chance. We're meant to be together, so just give me a chance. No fuck she won't go for that. I'm a fucking idiot, why did I take her? It's too late now buddy. You got her, time to win her back. He paced back to the bedroom door, unlocked it, and

got hit in the face with a shoe.
