And I know it

"What're we doing?" she asked as she made her way to her side of the car. "I ordered a pizza we gotta go pick up and then we can go to the movie rental." She got giddy and obediently got into her seat, buckling up while Naoto started his car. They drove off without even noticing they were being watched.

Having witnessed and heard all of it, Sanzu had been provoked to black out. He felt neurotic, a nervous wreck but his anxiety also fueled his adrenaline. He was enraged and felt possessive, like if someone had robbed him for every thing he was worth. His heart had shattered, and his brain wired. The chaotic energy he gave off felt like electric waves carrying around the car, the others in the vehicle could feel feverish ego radiating off of him. He rubbed his face, hand coming down from his forehead to his chin. He popped his jaw. Still looking out the window his cold words sent shivers down the other men's spines, "Go to the movie rental store. Now."

Naoto got back to his car with two large boxes of pizza and a bag carrying soda. He put them in the back seat and then got back in front to drive. "Mmmm smells so good babe. I love this place." Naoto nodded but got serious, "I'm sorry for not being able to see you all week. I really want to make it up to you tonight." he side eyed his girlfriend but kept his focus on the road. "You really want to make it up to me?" Y/n asked slowly and candy sweet. He nodded his head but exhaled heavenly. "Then I'm picking out a horror movie for tonight." Naoto let go of the wheel with one hand and propped it up on the door so he could hold his head in his hand. "Ugh, fine. Fine. Please Y/n I am begging you to find something with an actual plot. I cannot sit and just watch a killing spree for two hours. Or at least pick something where the characters aren't morons. They always make the stupidest decisions." Y/n belly laughed at his request but agreed as they pulled into the movie rental's parking lot.

"Put these on." Sanzu threw two black face masks into the backseat at the brothers. "She hasn't seen us in years, but I think if she sees our faces, she'll recognize us instantly." The brothers agreed. The men put on the masks and took off their suit coats, ties, watches, anything that could easily identify them especially in front of a pig. "Lead the way Sanzu." Ran said as the three got out of the vehicle. "Keep it running," Haruchiyo told Tantei. He straightened up from the window and looked at the Haitanis. "We're going to the horror movie section. Stay close."

The bell on top of the door rang out when Y/n and Naoto stepped into the movie rental store. "I'll be over there." Naoto looked into the direction of the documentaries and historical pieces. Y/n rolled her eyes and nodded, heading towards the scary movies. "Hi Y/n!" the cashier called out as she walked by the check out, "Hi Mary! Anything new?"

"Yeah darling, got a new Saw, a couple independent films, but it's mostly the same as last time you two were here."

Y/n nodded, taking a left at the checkout and going all the way to the end row. The horror movies were tucked away in the back of the store away from people who did not care for those kinds of films. The titles lined the last row on both sides and then cornered off a bit. Y/n knew the store like the back of her hand because she had been going here since it first opened.

Standing in the horror movie aisle looking intently at the section labeled 'New' was a tall, lanky man with a pink mullet. Cool hair. Y/n went to the new movies as well, and noticed two more men standing by the back wall looking at those movies. Purple hair, very cool. She pivoted on her feet, standing slightly in front of the other person in the aisle, and scanned the new movies. Mary was right, ugh it really is the same as last time. She reached for a title she had recognized trailers for, and at the same time so did the pink haired stranger. He made it to the DVD placing his body very close to hers. She let out one of those awkward, "Oops." and blushing kept scanning the titles. His cologne, that smell I love that smell. It's so familiar.

"Here you go doll face,"

the man said, putting the DVD right in front of her face. No, no, no, no fucking way. I'd recognize that voice anywhere. Haru...Sanzu Haruchiyo. No fucking way. Alright breathe. Y/n played off her panic and grabbed the film, looking over the front and back covers. Dollface?!, he has some fucking balls. Ha! I'll knock him down a couple pegs. "Eh." she shrugged her shoulders, turning towards him and handing him back the movie. Those guys behind him must be the Haitanis. She looked him in the eyes, having not seen those bright blues eyes in a very long time.

"I'm not really into deranged killers," Y/n stated, waiting for him to grab the movie. When he did she continued, looking up and down the aisle until she found what she was looking for. "Ah yes, I prefer psychological crime thrillers...." she began to walk out of the horror movie aisle.

"You know no matter how scary they get," she looked over her shoulder and back into his eyes, speaking slowly she taunted, shaking the DVD in her hand, "by the end of the movie the detectives always catch the bad guys."

And just like that she's gone again. Sanzu looked down at the movie in his hand. Did she seriously not recognize me? Or was she just hinting something to me? I mean nothing she gave me nothing, talking to me like she would any fucking stranger. She walking out of my life again. He raced out of the aisle, the Haitanis following, to wait in line behind Y/n and her...her, oh fuck, I can't even stomach it. She's dating a cop. Maybe he's just a distraction, like what I did with women over the years. She's probably just distracting herself.

He has some fucking audacity standing behind us right now. Y/n put her movie on the register surface next to the nature film Naoto picked out. He often used animal films to calm down after sitting through whatever blood bath Y/n picked out. She smiled up at him, and he smiled back. Mary, who was a rather hysterical older woman had been working night shifts at the store just as long as they had been dating. "When are you two getting married huh?"

Sanzu balled his fists together.

Naoto was leaning on the tall surface of the register and pick his hand up to cup Y/n's face, "Soon, very soon Mary." he smiled and crinkled his nose at Y/n, "He's lying Mary," Y/n turned her attention to their favorite cashier, "at this rate I'll end up pregnant before I'm a wife." She turned and stuck her tongue out at Naoto.

If it was physically possible steam would've been fuming out of Haruchiyo's ears. He was visibly shaking and his eyes were dark.

"You two kids need me to throw some condoms into the bag?" Mary laughed whole heartedly, she always had a great sense of humor and enjoyed the young couple's presence. Naoto began to shake his hand and head no when Y/n spoke up, jumping up to look over the counter,

"Well, that depends Mary do you guys carry Magnum...."

Naoto slapped a hand over Y/n's mouth and pulled her off the counter while simultaneously handing Mary his debit card. He pulled Y/n into him and brought their faces close together.

"Do you ever behave yourself? Ever?!" Y/n was smiling bright under his hand and shaking with laughter as she shook her head no.

Sanzu had enough and reached for his gun tucked behind his back.

Rindou was quick to grab his wrist, serious and stern, shaking his head no. Haruchiyo composed himself and turned his focus back in front of him. Naoto had grabbed the bag from the cashier, held onto Y/n's hand, and they exited the store. "Bye Mary, see you next time!" the two called out.

The bell on top the door rang out when Y/n exited the movie rental store.

That's it she's gone again, out of my life, forever.

Sanzu and the Haitanis got back into Tantei's hatchback in an awkward silence. Ran broke it the only way he knew how, "Ha, you, uh you were really going to kill both of them back there huh Mad Dog?" Sanzu didn't reply, just sat deadpanned looking out the window. The same electric energy coming off of him again. Rindou spoke up to try and alleviate the situation, "Yeah well, hmph," he wiped his hands on his pants, the intensity of what just happened had left him sweating a bit, "You can't win her back if you kill her man." he awkwardly chuckled. The brothers exchanged concerned looks. "Killing her wouldn't get her back into your life now, would it?

"You're right, it wouldn't." Sanzu spoke up his voice at first void of any emotion. Then he cracked, laughing a little hysterically to himself, "Ah man." He wiped his face still smiling to himself. "But taking her, yeah I could take her that would get her back."
