"Are umbrellas not something private eye's are allowed to carry?" Andrea asked Steel.
"Too conspicuous," said Steel. "And they get caught on stuff."
"So you just stand in the rain instead?" she said.
"Ordinarily I would just watch you from the car, but you got the last spot. I had to park half a block up the street! So instead of AC and listening to the radio, I got to be cold and wet!"
"Well, now you get some hot coffee to warm you up," Andrea said, as the barista came back with his drink. Andrea paid for them both. Steel grunted a thanks. It struck her that this might be a good opportunity to do a little digging into him.
"So what kind of car does a private investigator drive?" she asked.
"Bright pink Lamborghini with flashing lights on the top," he said, taking a sip of his coffee. He didn't seem impressed with it.
