Evolution

"Char, can you explain again what you are doing here in this place, at this crucial moment for me?" Anne asked him before she started.

"I'm looking for ideas on how I will evolve my skeleton by seeing your Imp evolve, although they are different species or entities to begin with. Seeing its evolution might give me an image of what I'm supposed to do," he answered lightly.

"And why did I agree again? I seemed to forget how I suddenly lost my mind and let you watch this moment," she gritted her teeth.

The evolution process can be very delicate and intimate, people usually like to do that in seclusion as they want to keep one or two tricks a secret from others.

A minor mistake or interruption might change the result they wanted, so having full control of the surroundings and the situation is important.

"Because, I told you that I will give your imp a magic tattoo free of charge, and you agreed with me after I added an extra mana crystal on the list?" Char smiled.

Being rich was a new thing for him, but that did not stop him to utilize his wealth to help him in his path.

"There is no use in money if I'm not spending it," he thought.

"Right," she sighed. If not for the money she would have let no one watch her evolve the imp, she just could not risk it.

"With one more mana crystal, my chance to get that evolution should be higher, I just need to bear with it and make sure he doesn't interrupt the process," she told herself.

They were in a private room that the academy prepared specially for such an occasion, Anne had booked the room so they could use it at that exact moment.

It was almost midnight, and the moon was glowing brightly as if it was the full moon, "If I can get a super moon it would be better, but sadly I can't wait that long for such a rare occasion," she lamented.

The imp was standing in the middle of the room with two mana crystals in its hand; it was just waiting for the girl to tell it to start.

Anne was looking at the sky, she could see the moon from the glass window on the roof, it was designed so the moonlight could fall perfectly at the center of the building.

Once the moon got to its highest position in the sky, she commanded the Imp to start, "Now!"

It tried to bite down at the mana crystal but failed so it directly swallowed both of them, the mana in the crystal churned in the imp's body.

It filled the Imp to the brim until it almost exploded, its veins pulsed and its eyes turned red with blood as the blood in its body was about to flow out from every possible outlet.

"Is this supposed to happen? It looked like it's going to die soon," Char wondered.

To his surprise, the girl pulled out a sword; it was the first time he saw the girl hold a sword since he knew her.

With a quick strike, she cut the Imp on the back, cutting both of its wings. Blood spurted as it finally had its way out.

Soon the wound closed and its muscle started to grow, not only its muscle, but it also grew taller soon it became as tall as an adult human.

Its skin suddenly cracked and molded, then a brand new creature came out. It looked like an ugly human with red skin, three horns, and three clawed fingers on each limb.

"What in the world is that?" Char looked at the Imp in wonder.

"It's an Imp Walker, imp that gives up its wings and ability to fly in order to gain a stronger body, physically it's stronger than a hobgoblin, and with so much mana in its body on its evolution, its physical ability should be better than normal," she explained.

"That's it? You just need to cut off its wing and abracadabra becomes another evolution?" Char asked.

"Of course not! I was lucky when I'm looking in the library that I found out about this path and cutting it is not enough. The full moon and its training prior to evolution also matter. According to the book, its chance was only 80 percent, even after all the preparation that I made." She explained again.

"I see, so the environment and time of evolution also matters. The amount of mana it has prior to evolution also results in a stronger body," Char took a mental note.

"How about its magic? Did you give it some special magic?" he asked.

"Magic doesn't really matter in this case, but on another path that I read in the same book, magic can also matter," she replied.

After some contemplation, Char finally had an image of how to get to his goal.

"Alright, thank you, I think I got it," Char said as he was about to leave and prepare for his skeleton's evolution, but a hand stopped him by the shoulder.

"Don't you forget something, Char?" Anne smiled at him.

"Huh? What is it? I need to prepare something before tomorrow," he asked him.

"I will give you a hint! Tattoo!" she said in annoyance.

"Ah! Yeah, sorry, I forgot," He said sheepishly.

After finishing the tattoo he promised the girl, Char directly went outside the academy to a nearby shop. He wanted to buy something in preparation for the skeleton's evolution.

"To get a different outcome than normal, I need to have a unique environment and special time to do its evolution. Something rare that others should not think of before," he thought.

Char boughed as many bones as he could from the shop. He did not care about the tiers; he bought the cheapest bones; he bought as many complete skeletons of creatures he could find with all the mana crystals he had.

"With all of these bones and tomorrow's event, I should be able to get something special!" Char grinned.

Here is today's chapter!!

Anyway, the evolution everyone is waiting for is up a head! :D
