Potential

Char did not need to use his physical boost magic anymore to keep up with his opponent, he was already better than his opponent in technique.

"I should finish this," he thought as he activated the physical boost at full power. Mana covered his arm and sword as he cut at his opponent.

The older student tried to block, but he staggered back because of the force of Char's attack, after a few hit the boy already at the edge of the arena.

"Holy!" The boy screamed for his horse.

Char got a bad feeling and quickly pulled out a bone and channeled his mana into it. He activated the haste magic and quickly rolled to the side, dodging a horse that charged at him like a meteor.

The horse's second magic was charged, it increased the horse's initial velocity and powered its charge, had Char been hit by the charge that it would send him flying away with dozens of broken bones.

"I need to admit that you are worthy to be called a genius, your sword skill improves so much that not even I am confident to beat you alone, but I don't need to do it alone," The older student mounted his summoned creature.

Char did not have time for the talk as three seconds almost passed since he used the bone. He threw it at his opponent only for the horse to dodge it with ease.

Rather than charging at Char, the horse charged at Skelly. It only needs to kill the skeleton for it to win the fight.

It shot at the skeleton with Charge magic. The skeleton waited for it to be at arm's length before it activated its tattoos. Two types of haste magic overlapped with each other, and it also used the quadruple physical boost.

With the increased speed, the skeleton dodges to the side, as the horse could not change its course with so little distance between them.

Horse anatomy did not allow it to take a side step or a U-turn, so the skeleton was able to dodge the Charge without trouble.

It tried to counter-attack, but the horse rider was already swinging his sword at the skeleton, but just like usual, the skeleton did not care about getting injured.

It let the sword cut its head while it swung its sword at the horse's hind leg, drawing blood, and made the charging horse stumble down.

The horse and its rider rolled and slid on the floor, as they could not stop the momentum of their charge. Luckily, they did not fall out of the arena.

The boy was in pain as his foot got trapped under the horse's body; it tried to get up, but its hind leg's injuries made it fall at the boy once more.

"Skelly's added flexibility is amazing, it could move so gracefully! Even I can't move with such precision, even though I have the same magic," Char mused.

The referee did not stop the fight even after seeing the boy's miserable condition, as it was not life threatening and the winner had not been decided yet.

Rather than finishing the horse right there and then, Char told the skeleton to wait until the horse gets on its feet.

"What are you waiting for? Don't be too cocky!" the boy grew angry by his act of kindness.

Seeing the boy's ungratefulness, Char turned to the skeleton, "Skelly give him that," he ordered.

It raised its middle finger at the boy and the horse. Both of them were scared senseless as they thought it was about to throw an explosive middle finger at them. They jumped to the side only for nothing to happen.

"What are you so scared about? Never got a middle finger before?" Char smirked at them.

It made the boy's face turn red in embarrassment; he charged at Char in anger. Even with his injured leg, the magic still helped him close the distance in an instant.

Char shook his hand as he sidestepped the charge, just like the skeleton did to the horse. The boy could not turn in time as Char purposely moved toward the boy's injured leg's side.

With a quick jab, he punched at the boy. He did not even use his magic to knock the boy down.

The skeleton also finished its battle, it stabbed the horse with his sword in the middle of its head in exchange for letting the horse hit it with its charge.

With its injured leg, its charge could not finish the skeleton, on the other hand, it got killed by the skeleton's bone sword.

Its sword did not only stab at the brain, but thorns of bones grew from the sword once it got into the horse's head, increasing the damage it dealt to the brain.

"The winner is Char and his skeleton!" the referee declared.

"Did you see that? The skeleton is immune to purification! How can this be possible?" an audience asked in disbelief.

"Not only that! Its movement is also not like a skeleton! Its movement is so smooth that I can hardly believe it to be mindless!"

"Do you think Char will return to be at the top of the academy once more? It's only been three weeks, and he's already on the upper half of the ranking!" one asked.

"No way, skeletons are so hard to evolve and at best it will get to baronet tier, even if he could be the best in the academy, we will still surpass him one day!" another reasoned.

"Yeah, he might be better than us now, but his potential is limited, we will surpass him given enough time."

Char could hear some of their words on his way out of the arena, he did not stop them as he also thought the same way.

If he follows a normal path, then he will meet a dead end sooner or later, only if he finds a brand new path or he makes a breakthrough that everyone else failed to find would he have limitless potential.

"Skeleton's potential might be limited, but my potential is decided by me, not by others or my summoned creature!" he gritted his teeth.
