Sleeping Together
After waiting for five minutes, the body fell to the ground, cold. Gu Tan turned around and walked out of the tent. He saw his dad waiting for him. He turned at the soldier nearby and said "Take out the dead body and bury him."
The soldier nods his head and Gu Tan walks to his dad.
"So, did you get what you wanted?" Gu Chen asked
Gu Tan shook his head and says "I haven't checked it out yet. I will do it later. For now, I have something to talk to you about."
"What?" Gu Chen stared at Gu Tan with confusion and asked.
"Tomorrow, you and I need to visit the Yellow Stone Village. We might be gone for like four or five days." Gu Tan answered with a little seriousness in his tone.
"Wait, just two of us? Can't we take your mother as well?" Gu Chen asked.
Hearing his words, Gu Tan rolled his eyes and spoke "Dad, this is not a vacation. We are going there for serious business. So, I hope you can convince mom tonight. Because you need to go with me otherwise it will be a lot dangerous."
"Don't worry, I will convince your mother. But, remember to take a nice hot bath before sleeping. You have been too tired for these few days. You need physical and mental rest." Gu Chen nodded his head and patted his son's shoulder.
Then, he turned around and left.
Gu Tan sighed with a slightly painful expression on his face.
"I do need to a hot bath."
Then, he raised his head and see the sun setting in the west.
"Hmm! I should wait for a few days. I will take a break after the renovation of the village."
Shaking his head, Gu Tan went back to his office. He found Zhao Xin was there waiting for him. Gu Tan enters the house and says "Did you have the dinner?"
Zhao Xin shook her head and said "Zhu Ping and Ming Shen are waiting for you in the backyard."
Gu Tan looked at her with surprise. Both of them left the house and he saw the soldiers getting gathered behind the house.
"Ahh! Village Chief, welcome!"
When Gu Tan walked towards them, the soldier immediately welcomed him. Gu Tan saw Ming Shen and Zhu Ping making barbecues with other soldiers.
"So, you prepared the whole feast for me?" He couldn't help but turn his head at Zhao Xin and asked.
"Well, we wanted to congratulate you for becoming the Village Chief. And, today, it was the best day to throw a party." Zhao Xin nodded her head and answered.
"Alright! Let's have some fun then." Gu Tan smiled and walked up to his friends. Slowly, the party started. The barbecues were ready. The juice of different fruits was served together with meat. And, during the party, he noticed some of the soldiers missing and the voice coming out of the house.
But, he basically ignored it knowing what was happening there. He just enjoyed the party with his friends. They sang. They danced. They had a campfire. And, it went till midnight. Everyone else had already left, except for five of them.
Yu Cao was told to stay at home today.
"Tan, are we really going to change the world?" Zhu Ping asked while staring at the stars.
"Of course, we are going to change the world. Or, why do you think I taught you so much at such an early age?"
"But, it will be difficult." Ming Shen replied with a heavy.
"I don't care about changing the world. I just want to be with you forever." Zhao Yin rested her head on Gu Tan's shoulder and spoke.
"Hey, I still haven't overcome those feelings. Can you stop this?" Zhu Ping couldn't help but argue as soon as he heard her words.
"Tan, have you really considered everything?" Ming Shen ignored them and asked.
Gu Tan nods his head and explains "Yes, I have. We will hide. There is nothing else we can do. It's not because we are cowards but that doesn't mean we should face off against enemies without proper strength. Thousand, we only have thousand people in the entire village."
"Three years might not be enough to multiply that number but it will be enough to create five hundred soldiers that can take on five thousand. Numbers alone can't win the war but guts alone can't win it either. You need to balance both with correct training."
"Hehe! Don't you think we would be strong already if you are village chief when you were two?" Zhao Xin couldn't help but chuckle.
Gu Tan shook his head "No, it's impossible. I only started my training from the age of two from my master's. It was a pure stroke of luck that I was able to learn so much in just eight years."
"Alright, stop this! We have to work hard otherwise the village will end. And, that's it. Gu Tan will lead the village and we will protect it. That's our motto and we stick to it." Zhu Ping stood up and spoke while putting his finger on Gu Tan's mouth.
"Well, although you are an idiot, you spoke the truth. That's our motto. Gu Tan will lead the village and we will protect it." Zhao Yin also stood up and added her words.
Ming Shen and Zhao Xin looked at each other and smiled.
"East!" Ming Shen spoke as he extended his right hand with his fist clenched.
"South!" Zhu Ping spoke as he extended his right hand and placed it above Ming Shen's fist
"West!" Zhao Xin spoke as she extended her right hand and placed it above Zhu Ping's fist.
"North!" Zhao Yin spoke as she extended her right hand and placed it above Zhao Xin.
"Center!" Finally, Gu Tan spoke and placed his fist above Zhao Yin.
"Four Walls will protect the village." Zhao Yin, Zhao Xin, Zhu Ping, and Ming Shen spoke at the same time.
"The Center will expand the village." Gu Tan spoke after them and all of them cheered up, raising their hands. Fortunately, there was no one around otherwise it would be like a group of children playing a game at the night.
After that, five of them went inside the house. The table and chairs were removed from the house. And, there was a huge futon in the middle. They went near the futon and fell over it. All of them were tried especially Gu Tan.
But, he still remembered one more thing to do. He took out the piece of blank paper from his pocket that he has kept for a long time and spoke in his mind.
'Ace, print that map in this paper and also upload the information you received from that man.'
"Host, printing can be done in a few seconds. But, I think you should sleep. As for the information, I can still transmit it in your brain and once it is uploaded completely, you will remember everything in the morning." Ace replied on his head.
Even she suggested he take a rest which made him doubt.
Was he working too hard?
'Alright, print the map, I will give it to Zhao Xin before sleeping. And, will I feel any pain during my sleep?' Gu Tan couldn't help but ask since this information might contain the Law of Devouring.
"I was just about to suggest this, host. I can separate the information that could possibly make you feel pain and the information that won't make you feel painful. It would take few hours though." Ace replied.
Hearing her suggestion, Gu Tan paused for a moment.
'How about this? You separate important and non-important information. If it is something that is not important, just throw them away and keep important information. I will receive that information tomorrow.' Gu Tan decided not to disturb his sleep and changed his task.
"Yes, host! And, your map is completed. Please look at the paper." Ace agreed and also gave him the notification for the end of the work.
Gu Tan raised the paper and saw the map of the Xuan Village on it. There were many indications and different places were placed on the map based on his own idea. He couldn't help but smile.
"Xin, keep this and renovate the village!" Gu Tan passed the paper to Zhao Xin who was lying next to Zhao Yin and Zhao Yin was lying next to him. They were on his left side while on his right side, Ming Shen and Zhu Ping were also lying down.
"Alright!" Zhao Xin took the paper and nodded her head.
"Goodnight, everyone!" Gu Tan finally closes his eyes after saying good night.
"Goodnight! Goodnight! Goodnight! Goodnight!"
All four of them repeated the same word and closed their eyes. But just when Gu Tan tried to sleep, he felt Zhao Yin's arms wrapping around him. But, quickly a smile appeared on his lips. He wrapped his arms around her and shuts his eyes.
Using her as a side pillow was going to be the best feeling for him!
