43. Elder's Residence

With just one token, the hearts of the 3 cultivators did a 180. From being arrogant and dismissive to fearful and panicked. But to be honest, this was expected.

The 3 Major Families were just too influential in the Corpse Ghost Sect.

The elder status given to Elder Wan by the sect was impressive, but you shouldn't be blinded by it.

Although the Foundation Establishment Elders stood towering over the outer sect disciples, their life was far from all powerful.

For Elders of foreign surnames like Elder Wan that didn't follow any of the three major families, if they weren't especially talented, in the eyes of the three major families they were worth less than the slightly talented children of their families.

This was the real truth of the Corpse Ghost Sect. The three families held all the power with over 70% of the Foundation Establishment Elders being from the three families.

As Fang Yang was thinking these thoughts, he and the other disciples walked over to the Elder's Residence.

The house itself wasn't anything special.

Although it was quite a bit larger than Fang Yang's, it still wasn't a mansion or anything like that.

The 9th level Qi cultivator walked over to the door and knocked.

"Knock! Knock!"

"Elder Wan, a member of the Zhou family wants to see you."

But after the man knocked, there was no immediate response, only a long awkward silence.

In response to this, the man who had just knocked started sweating bullets.

Elder Wan's short and brutal temper was known to almost all disciples. Although he couldn't kill a disciple outright, he could still make things extremely difficult for a disciple with a simple flick of a finger.

When he got no response, the disciple's first thought was that he had somehow managed to annoy the elder, and he instantly sank into despair.

But just before he could cry out, the cold voice of Elder Wan sounded out

"Let him in."

In an instant, a joyful smile appeared on the man, making it look like he had just like he had been spared execution.

After quickly pushing Fang Yang towards the door, the three cultivators quickly fled, not wanting to be caught by a stray bullet if the information wasn't to the Elder's liking.

As Fang Yang walked inside, he was quickly greeted by a chilling pair of eyes that made him tense up.

But just like Elder Wan was looking at Fang Yang, Fang Yang also used this opportunity to get a good look at Elder Wan.

When he first saw him, he didn't get a good look at the man because he simply didn't dare to look at him for too long.

He had no information about the personality of the elder, so if his curiosity caused him to offend him in some way, he would have nobody to go crying too but himself.

The Elder Wan in front of him wasn't a man with too outstanding an appearance. He was quite an average-looking man that appeared to be in his mid fifties. His hair had a few grey strands and was held in a bun. But by far the most defining aspect of Elder Wan was his fierce eyes that chilled one's heart. Even Fang Yang didn't dare to meet them head on.

As Fang Yang took a brief glance at Elder Wan, a cold voice rang in his ears.

"So you're the member or the Zhou Family." Said Elder Wan with a hint of curiosity in his voice .

Faced with Elder Wan, Fang Yang didn't dare delay and quickly introduced himself

"My Name is Fang Yang. I'm not quite a member of the Zhou family, but I do have some affiliation with them."

As Fang Yang spoke, he brought out the block token.

The Elder saw it a nodded. He clearly understood the value of the token. He even knew that the person who gave him this token was not of low standing in the Zhou Family.

He didn't think for a second that Fang Yang brought a fake. After all, when he returned to the sect just a few questions would be able to confirm if it was authentic or not and if it was fake what he would be facing was not just the wrath of Elder Wan but the wrath of the entire of the Zhou Family something even the elder didn't have the confidence to take it head on.

Looking at Fang Yang, he saw that his cultivation was quite pathetic and only in the 2nd level of Qi refinement and didn't bother to waste much time.

"So what do you want to see me for?"

As Soon as Elder Wan asked the question Fang Yang had been waiting for, He took a deep breath to collect himself and started speaking.

"Elder, the reason I came here is that, whilst I was exploring the mines, I stumbled upon a gold eating rat nest"

"Oh really.."

Although Elder Wan didn't say anything in particular, the second Fang Yang heard this, the hairs on his neck stood up.

Since Fang Yang had transmigrated, he noticed that for some reason his instincts seemed to be especially strong, even stronger than many other cultivators at the same level as he hadn't failed to detect life-threatening danger yet.

So you could just imagine Fang Yang's shock when he felt the scalp tingling sensation of the clear threat of death. More accurately, it was the sensation of killing intent and what made it even more shocking was that it was coming from the Elder in front of him!

If Fang Yang was just a regular Qi cultivator, even if he was of the 9 level of Qi refinement, he was sure that he would have missed it. Fang Yang was only fortunate to have such high senses due to the merging of 2 souls.

When Fang Yang detected this killing intent, he showed no signs on the surface, but inside his heart was shaking as countless questions poured in.
