CHAPTER 7(Edited)

Wyverns. They are said to be the not-so-distant cousins of the fire nemesis that we all came to love in the series.

The only two differences being: first, the ability to breathe fire, which the wyverns lack; and two, the variety in sizes and traits inside the specie, which in this case, the dragons loses.

The first reason it's what makes them less popular among the common folk...but, it's understandable.

Especially when you read about the bloodshed the dragons and their riders unleashed upon the known world, thousands of years ago...

Valerian's greed for dominance, power, and all that horse shit.

Now the second reason...that's a more interesting piece of information:

{.Wyverns

-Anatomy and habits: Wyverns have great leathery wings, "cruel" beaks, and insatiable hunger. Kin to dragons, and although not being able to breathe fire, they are more ferocious than the former, if smaller in size.

Wyverns are called "the tyrants of the southern skies", and are one of the reasons why Sothoryos is thinly populated.

Varieties of wyverns include brindled wyverns, swamp wyverns, brownbellies, and shadow wings. Brindled wyverns have green-and-white scales and grow up to thirty feet long.

Swamp wyverns may grow larger than that, but they are mostly inactive and rarely fly far from their lairs.

Brownbellies, though not much bigger than monkeys, hunt in packs of a hundred or more, and so are far more dangerous than larger breeds.

The shadow-wing wyvern is nocturnal, with black scales and wings that make it invisible in the dark, and therefore is the most feared.

*Possible loyalty to you: Slightly respect for bigger species, and high loyalty for small to medium ones.}

I guess having a bigger variety would, most certainly, make them more pleasing to possess, in my future small army.

Notably, the last one. The Shadow-wing wyvern...

He's a must for infiltrating and information gathering or to just peacefully fly around places, at night.

"But first, for the sake of my flying dreams, I need to deeper my bond to "mother" before saying hi. Else, I'll end up having to say goodbye, instead," I murmured.

Just....how do I begin with it? "Maybe sitting in a waterfall, Shiryu style?" Meh, got nothing to lose. Let's ask Kimtharr. After the evening hunt, that is.

"Huh?" I stopped before my little temporary dormitory, seeing as a group of female children are flocking around my bud.

This is the first time I saw so many of them show themselves before me, willingly...

I have to say, they have a certain unique, elegant, and peaceful charm. Cute, larger pointed ears, along with a nut-brown skin that mixed well with their leaves and bark garments.

And, to add to their already forest-like appearance, vines and flowers of various colors and sizes are then attached to their dark, partly, braided brown hair.

However, the most enticing trait, in my opinion, is their golden slit eyes. With some uncommon ones like red or, the rarest of them all, green.

I suppose the last two are what results of their special abilities. Skinchangers and greenseers, respectively.

The former being more common than the latter, where they're able to communicate with beasts and control them, by having their spirits mingle...

Equal to the likes of wildlings, north of the wall. Except they're much better. But you get the idea.

Grennseers, on the other hand, are similar to the three-eyed raven...

Of course, without being needed to be a cripple or stuck into a tree, where god knows what the roots are up to...

Their powers enable them to see through the eyes of the carved weirwoods, see events at a great distance, communicate across a realm, delve into the past, and, to a certain extent, the future as well.

They are their own cheat in the end too...

Luckily for humans, they seem to have a low fertility rate, along with a pacifist nature. They prefer to spend their time singing and caring for nature, maintaining the natural order.

Well, as much order as there can be in a jungle full of bloodthirsty beasts...

They don't seem to mind it though. There is no occurring conflict among them, in the first place.

"I believe you're the champion my siblings were speaking of?" Asked one male child, shaking me of my thoughts.

Just like me, he was eyeing the flock of female elves smothering my little companion with a curious affection...

I'm not jealous. You are...

...What? This body is fifteen(I think. Did I mention I'm 6'2 tall?). It's not illegal.

In fact, they have a life span composed of centuries. So, technically, I'm the one who's illegal here.

"That would be me. I'm sorry, you are?"Haven't seen a male one yet. They appeared to be in fewer numbers when compared to their opposed sex.

"Tamnrell, it's my honor to greet you into our woods, Blessed one" He greeted me, extending his palm towards me.

"Likewise, the honor is mine. So, you're a hunter then?" I asked since I can see a fine wood-carved bow strapped on his back.

The thing is, not every child knows how to use a bow or a sling. The only knowledgeable ones in handling such weapons are named hunters...

Real pacifists, they are.

"Correct. I was informed you wish to go along, I must thank you in advance, for your assistance" He nodded gratefully at me.

Man, those guys sure are polite. I Would rather live here with them than, the rest of the shit system cities around Essos and Westeros.

For one, I love the majestic and medieval fantasy-like feeling the other places may give, but their hierarchy can go screw themselves.

Slavery, extreme indoctrination mixed with religion, commoners oppression, all that shit it's tough to witness as a modern person...

"Not all is sparkles and sunshine after all" I sighed quietly to myself.

"Something's tormenting you?" Curiously inquired Tamnrell.

"It's nothing," I responded half-heartedly, " Just...better analyzing my future".

"You don't need to worry your head too much," he said firmly, " Whatever is, that awaits in your path, they ought to be unlike any magical experience the population of those seas has ever seen before. Trust in nature's judgment, and let her guide you towards your destiny" The wood elf nodded shortly.

He....he's right. I can't save everyone, but I will do my best to spread better knowledge through the lands I pass...

Still, I'll make sure to enjoy every little fantastical factor those lands have to offer me.

I can't lose my primary goal, after all...

I want to explore lands that no man had ever explored, taste delicacies no lord tasted, see wonders no sailer had the opportunity to witness, and meet mystical creatures never documented before.

I'm going to be the best discoverer this world ever had!

"Thanks, Tamnrell," I sincerely smiled at him, "for clearing my doubts."

"Un, it's good that you comprehended," He gave me a small smile, encouraging me, "We too, are here, if you so require of our assistance in the future."

"I'll take you on that promise. That I assure you" I chuckled. He's a nice guy that I would gladly, be friends with.

He shook his head with a wryly smile and resumed looking, at the now, over the moon giant silver bunny, being braided with flowers by dozens of centuries-old lolis...

I guess this isn't an all bad world in the end. I just have to guide it to a better route.
