[2 Months Later]
Those last 2 months ended up being very productive.
After that day's evening hunt, when I was given the task of finding the prey and trapping it with my water magic, I turned my whole attention to gathering every beast that I found, lurking in my way.
From small snakes and eagles to basilisks and wyverns the size of a large bear, my options were vast.
So I started forming different divisions for variate purposes. Such as my pillow squad! Made up of Fluffy's brothers and sisters(Bloody hell they are cuddly, not that I mind large cuddly pillows). Or the aerial scouting legion, made by all kinds of flying mammals.
Now, you might be wondering. How can I understand the information they gathered when I can't speak in their language myself?
Well, there's no need for both parties to speak to be considered a conversation...
In this case at least.
I simply send them a task with a simple demand. When they return, I asked if they accomplished their mission, usually being answered with a nod or shake of the head...
And if that's not enough, I can also perceive what they are thinking to a certain extent.
One thing I noticed is that, apart from the loyal behavior, their non-existence intelligence which they originally had, is constantly evolving as well.
Not to the point of playing chess with me. But to think before acting. Maybe it's because they don't want to disappoint me, or perhaps is just the Blessing doing its job.
Whatever it is, It's making them much more superior to their untamed kin. Mind-wise.
After my daily recruiting and working to expand my network ended, the nightly and morning training with Kimntharr, in the woods, began...
There, she taught me all of her tribe's magic. Namely how to deeper my connection to nature, enabling me to form a special bond with it; and to better understand the wildlife's thoughts and habits.
Still, the best thing that she taught me was how to share my vision and senses with a bonded animal, as well as speak to the dead.
The last one is limited, of course.
The former, in my case, isn't limited to one or two bonds.
Meaning, that I can temporarily possess the mind of any loyal beast to me from across a realm. If I so desire...
I still can't do what Bran did, like taking control of a human mind. But with time, I believe I can get rid of this limitation(only with weaker minds, however).
And the latter is just what you would expect of any creepy, second-rate ghost thriller movie.
First, you must use an important object deeply related to the specified person you wish to converse with, say some magical words, give some valuable artifact(Powerfull blood or magical object), and Boom!
You have yourself a gloomy, translucent dead person looking at you as if you were a ghost(the irony)...or the one who probably murdered said person...
Yep, some dead people wouldn't be too enthusiastic about having a tea party with you. Who would have guessed?
And finally, she even took the liberty of teaching me their most secret, and dark rituals, such as healing, and performing larger disasters, using my blood and flesh in exchange.
But, she warned me of how risky, and costly, it is to perform them. Since the more I am, to use them, the more life force I lose to complete the given task.
I don't really know if there is much difference between my mana to life force, but I'm going to play safe here. Even if have an enhanced vitality, along with a personal magic pool.
Therefore, they are going to be my last cards when I find myself in desperate need in the future...Hopefully, never.
And so, that was my routine for 2 months straight. Wake up surrounded by big balls of squish fur, magic training, spend time with Thamnrell and other children, learning about this continent's herbs and its uses; listening to their beautiful songs and legends, eating whatever was unfortunate to be hunted my me, expanding and getting to know more of my animal troops; magic training again, sleep, and so on.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Let me ask you once more. Are you absolutely sure, you want to proceed with this?" Asked Thamnrell, the fifth time in the last half an hour.
"For the fifth time. Yes, I want to. Now, come on!" Right now, we are deep in the rocky mountains, further south of Sothoryos, looking for my future black-winged Wyvern.
I was informed by one of my scouts, that he is supposed to be resting in one of these deep and dark ravines scattered around these rocky caves...
I originally commanded them to find him and then inform me via my 'beastly network', as I like to call the connection between me and my wild followers.
Since, as soon as I was ready to gain its loyalty, I would run to its encounter...
And now that I am, the only step missing it's giving him a good first impression. That's why we're carrying these roasted boars in a wood carriage I improvised.
Well, it's more like I'm carrying them, as the children aren't that strength-based. Some of them are even using the carriage as means of their own transport as well since they're so small...lazy bastards.
Our group is composed of 8 children-minus me, as I look more like a grown man than anything-, 3 of which are magic users and the rest are hunters.
I initially stated that I didn't need any help, but they insisted on doing so...
It looks like the Nocturnal Wyvern is rarely seen, even more up close. They most likely want to see me dominating it real bad.
Or maybe they're just worried in case things go sideways...
Anyway. They want first-class seats to witness it.
I don't blame them, this is history after all.
No race was documented to ever gain the willing partnership of one of them before.
It makes sense, considering their disposition to...servitude.
Berserk creatures they are...
"Well, like they use to say: 'There's a first for everything'" Not gonna lie. I was very excited.
"I resent that statement. This is going to end: either in complete madness, or, in a complete miracle. Regardless of both endings happening, it won't alter the fact that you're insane" He nervously added while tightly gripping the bow in his grasp.
"It's going to be fine. Trust in your big brother. Everything is going to end A-okay," I joked, trying to ease his fears, "Besides, haven't you seen me gather all manners of wild creatures already?" I added, raising an eyebrow.
.
"Yes. But, the black-winged wyvern is unlike any other. He reigns as king among the wild creatures that exist on these planes" He insisted, "so you can understand where my fears originated..." His head darting from one side to another, ready for combat.
"You're correct, no doubt. Buuuut....that's what makes it so exciting!" I shrugged his concerns off with a big grin.
Frankly, I know I should be shitting in my boots right now, but...
I just can't.
Perhaps is just my gifts giving me foolish confidence.
Or just pure excitement to finally see something so remarkably close to Dany's dragons...
Probably both. "Now, where are you hiding your big scaly ass?" I asked with a crazed smile. The less emo dragon was around here, I can feel it...
He's probably having his beauty sleep at this time, seeing as he likes to venture at night. And right now, it's late afternoon. He should be awakening to fly soon...
"What did I put myself into? Please, all might gods. Give me strength to not push your champion in one of those gaps" Quietly prayed, the poor wood elf copy.
Still, his answer never came. Only the peak's cold and ominous silence filled the party's ears...
