CHAPTER 6(Edited)

After Kimntharr evaluated my mastery over my stored life force, resulting in me passing with flying colors by the way...

Heh. When I showed the amount of mana I had currently available in my pool, her reaction was, unexpectedly, a bit...cute.

Wish I had a camera for safe-keeping it...

Anyway, when recovered from the previous shock, she instructed me to sit inside a little river close to my cottage. Next, I was told to concentrate on the feeling of the water flowing quietly there...

Easy enough.

Thankfully, whatever magic they used around this place, in the end, manage to keep the aggressive fishes and reptiles out.

Not that I am afraid, they would have ignored me in the end...

However, it's still unnerving to hear them hissing so close to me while attempting to focus.

"Focus" Oh yeah. She's watching all my moves while at it too.

It makes me a little uncomfortable. But I had experienced worse(Damm Chineses. What's so wrong with my face!).

"Un" Giving a small nod and inhaling a mouthful of air, I began materializing the water form.

First, its pliability and solubility. Second, its Hydrogen and Oxygen composition.

And lastly, its two given sensations. Wetness and Weight.

"Good. Now, chant after me: 'Oh, mother of all life! Please, grant me your tears, so I can wash away this world's impurity!'" She chanted slowly, "After doing so, pour your 'mana' into your desired form. , but with ti-" She explained but was cut in the end.

"Grant me your tears!" I chanted. The faster the better.

I was using a small percent of my mana to form the water spear. Can't use much more, else I feel like I'll lose control over it.

"Flush" With a raising water sound, a 2 meters spear-like form made of flowing water appeared from the river. It stayed floating without dripping a drop, above my right arm.

"Incredible.... you succeded in your first try, and with a shorter chant as well. And this form... it's perfect. I have never seen such an accurate form capable of being made. The edges and curves are all well balanced as well..." She dazedly explained while closely inspecting the wet weapon.

Does that mean they can't form the elements that accurately?

"So, teach. Did I pass?" I asked, jumpy to learn more.

Water magic was nice. Overpowered even, when you're in the right place...

But it lacked the destructive power...for now.

"Yes, of course. But....out of curiosity, how much of your stored energy did you use to materialize such a weapon?" Asked the small female elder.

I honestly can't tell their age. Their names didn't come out of anywhere either. They do have children's sizes of an 8-12 years old child.

Buuuut, it's rude to ask a lady's age, so no hope there.

I took a moment to think, "Humm, I'm not sure of the exact number...but I would say in between 7-10 percent. More, and I feel like I'll start to lose control of its shape and size" Perhaps I should make more with less mana, meaning smaller projectiles.

Especially when engaging several enemies at the same time, it's much easier to deal area damage then.

Heh, summoning different kinds of weapons from the air, to later launch into the enemy.

That sounds like what some gold-headed mongrel without allies would do...

"10 percent....as expected of one blessed with great nature's talent" Jeez, you going to make me blush.

Receiving a compliment from someone belonging to an ancient magical race is no small feat.

"Thanks. But I wouldn't be able to do it so fast without your help" I smiled politely.

And it wasn't exactly a lie. I would most likely have taken a week to accomplish this alone, maybe some days.

"I believe that, with your talent alone, a day or two would do." She denied it, shaking her head.

I chuckled warily, "Maybe?".

Ignoring my remark, she resume to look at the spear in contemplation, " ....Since, your affinity with it, enables you to learn in such a rapid period, I suppose we can jump some steps, and go directly to placing what you learned into practice" She stated.

"Can I use this river, or do I have to learn how to summon water from the environment?" It's pretty damm useful to know how to create water. Considering the future fire spilling brothers.

There're the fanatics of R'hollor too... Don't know how will they react to my goddess backing.

Can't risk them throwing me in the fire for blood power, based on some misguided prophecy from someone high on the fumes...

I'm looking at you Melissandre.

"We do not know how to create it out of the empty. So you'll need to be near a body of water to fully make use of its magic applications" She answered patiently.

Oh well, I guess I'll just-Wait, a body of water?

Doesn't that mean I can manipulate the water inside someone's body?

If I remember correctly from my biology classes( Those I wasn't sleeping during it, of course), the human body is a compound of a high percentage of water. Used, if I'm not mistaken, to carry the nutrients to the cells and other functions...

Thus, I could, in theory, control someone's blood flow to a certain extent, no?

...need to test that one later.

"Then are we done with the mental training for now?" Have to say, I thought this would be way harder.

The two of my gifts when merged resulted in a nasty cheat...

"I suppose so. Usually, this type of training serves to better familiarize yourself with the water element. However, as we saw before, you're seen to be in perfect synchrony with it already," Kimtharr nodded, "Later, we are to hunt when the sun is at its lowest. There, you can attain better control over your 'mana'. Therefore, will you accompany us?" Ehh, why not, I need to stretch my legs a bit anyway.

"Sure, I think I could learn something or two, while at it" I answered.

I stood at my feet and walked towards my clothes...in which a dark silver ball of fur is currently used as a cushion...

"You do know the only reason I'm letting you stay there is because I cleaned you before this. So thank the bath. And that I didn't throw you after your little childish act" I sighed.

I sincerely don't know how he survived this jungle in steroids until he found me.

That reminds me, "Hey, Kintharr. Do your people have, uh, how do you say it...a sack, of some kind, to lend me?" I need a bag to carry my larger stuff. Else I'm going to need to go the Rambo way...

She paused for a minute. And then looked at me with her bewitching scarlet eyes, answering it, "We do have some network made of vines and leaves. We use it to carry fruits, is that sufficient?" The forest child asked.

"It's perfect, yes. Think you can give one to me?" Another reason why I wanted the bag was Fluffy.

I could hold him no problem without being let with sored arms...

It's just not very convenient to hold a bunny the size of a

medium Chow Chow while running from a wild cannibal tribe...Or worse.

That way, with the network strapped to my torso, I can put him in it as I go on with my journey.

She nodded shortly, "I'll bring it to you when the time comes before we go out of the forest to pursue ingredients for our supper. Then you can take it" Fine by me.

Speaking of food, it looks like I can stay with no food and sleep for some days...Neat.

"Then, I must thank you" I bowed my head a bit.

Honestly, I didn't do anything for them, and they treat me with sincerity regardless of it. I should also be their first 'friendly' guest in a long, long time...

I'll think of something to present to them.

Ought to show my gratitude when my little boot camp ends...

Man. From waking up in a deadly horror jungle, to gaining an apprenticeship with a legendary race of magical beings...

I'm doing pretty good.

But, what I should do after this schooling ends...find a boat and sail to Essos?

I really want to know what's west of this continent, namely Naath and the Summer Islands.

Naath is Missandei's birthplace, full of deadly butterflies that poisons everyone the moment he, or she, puts a foot in their habitat. Of course, excluding the island inhabitants.

Which are said to be pretty talented in learning everything to do with words and numbers. But alas, they are a bunch of peace hippies.

So usually, they are the most preferred victims of slavers and corsairs.

Since I have the blessing, I should be fine.

After all, they are beneath me in the chain of command...

And you don't fuck with mother's nature authority.

Maybe I could gain a follower or two, and some butterflies for me to extract the toxin too...

Goddess only knows, how much I'll need some talented and quick-witted assistants.

Some of the places I plan to go...well, there are too many political scrambles going on for me to bother learning about them. Not to mention the different cultures and languages.

And, it won't matter if I can stay without the need to sleep and eat for days. Or, if I can learn absolutely everything in a week or two.

I still am one single man. A demi-godly one, yes. But they don't need to know that.

Now, the summer islands are a bit different.

They are pacifists, but only when not instigated...

With an eager desire to learn, and an even bigger open-minded mentality, the summer islanders have teachings that are vastly more modern than the rest of the world:

{. Summer Islanders

-Anatomy and customs: They are strong and tall, handsome people eager to learn. Their skin color includes nut brown, teak, ebony, and polished jet. Their hair and eyes are black.

They speak the Summer Tongue and often wear capes of brightly-colored feathers when ashore. The Common Tongue can have an amber, liquid accent when spoken by an islander. Their food consists primarily of fruits and fish. Nine out of every ten islanders live on Jhala, Omboru, or Walano, with the latter being the most populous.

The Summer Islanders worship a score of deities, with the god and goddess of love, beauty, and fertility being the most favored.

The act of lovemaking is considered an important and even holy skill, with all islanders expected to serve for a time in temples of love.

The most skilled and dedicated, those who would be, can become respected priests and priestesses.

Prostitution is a respectable profession, practiced even by the high-born. Summer Islanders respect their elderly, and mourning customs include celebrating the dead with wine and lovemaking.

Each of the islands is ruled by a prince or princess, with the three larger islands each having multiple rivals...}

So yeah. One of the best kinds of people I'll find in this medieval world.

Except...maybe the lovemaking custom.

Now, don't misunderstand me, I like a good rest and fun once in the while. Even more, when the said partner is an expert in it.

It's just that I don't want to sail in a moaning ship all the time.

Humm, but who said I have to...

A big smile formed on my face, "I think it's time to turn my eyes to the biggest, and most ferocious being that this continent has to offer..."

Wyverns.
