Chapter 27

(A.N: I'm not too sure if I rushed it, but it felt like the right moment to write this chapter, I felt like I'm stretching it too long given Kade's strenght, but I'm sure you'll like the coming chapters. Anyways, leave reviews as that helps me improve the story and give more traction to it, thanks!)

Kade stood in the center of the dimly lit warehouse, with his never changing smile. Hwang Dongsoo entered cautiously as his eyes scanned the surroundings.

"Kade," Dongsoo greeted, his voice steady despite his apprehension.

Kade turned, a smile playing on his lips. "Hwang Dongsoo. I'm glad you could make it."

Dongsoo didn't waste time. "You said you have information about my brother. Where is he?"

Kade's smile widened, his eyes gleaming coldly. "Your brother, Hwang Dongsuk, is dead. I killed him."

Dongsoo's face immediately twisted with shock and disbelief. "What did you say?"

"I said," Kade repeated calmly, "I killed your brother. He was quite annoying inside the dungeon, so I killed his whole party"

Dongsoo's aura flared with anger. "You'll pay for this, Kade"

Kade's smile didn't falter. "Ohh, how so"

Dongsoo lunged at Kade, he was not confident to defeat Kade, but he was at least confident to come out of this place alive…boy was he wrong

Before Dongsoo could react, black tendrils emerged from Kade, wrapping around him. Dongsoo struggled, but it was futile.

"What are you doing?" Dongsoo gasped.

"I'm consuming you, like what I did to your dear brother" Kade said calmly.

The tendrils tightened, and Dongsoo's screams echoed as his whole body was drained away. Within moments it was over, Dongsoo was nowhere to be seen.

Kade felt his whole body surging with power, his magic power exploded making the whole warehouse a mess, as if that wasn't enough, hundreds of black tendrils came out of his body destroying everything on its path.

A few seconds later all the black tendrils comes back inside his body, his aura changing to that of immeasurable pressure.

The whole crowd, which is Kade's subordinate, inside the warehouse was kneeling with their bones cracking as if it was barely holding on for its dear life.

With a final glance at the place where Dongsoo stood before, Kade walked out of the warehouse. The night air was cool against his skin. He had consumed another strong being, boosting his strenght as well as giving him a new ability.

He could now spread his biomass as a virus airborne…meaning he could infect the whole country with his powers and control the whole normal population and even some lower rank hunters.

But this one was different from his first controlling ability, all those that get infected this way isn't gonna be like when he was feeding them his biomass, this was more similar to causing a zombie apocalypse, just a lot more hygienic.

As he disappeared into the shadows, the world continued as normal, unaware of Kade's growing power.

Meanwhile inside the Association

Sung Jinwoo was having a meeting with Chairman Go, the topic was none other than Kade.

"I will be confronting him very soom Chairman, I just need to do one more thing before I do so" Jinwoo said as he looked at the Chairman's sighing expression

Chairman Go leaned back in his chair, his expression thoughtful. "You have my full support, Jinwoo. The Association will back you in this confrontation. But I must warn you, Kade's strength is immense, but that's not even what I'm worried about…he's decisiveness is scary, if he decides you're an enemy you better be ready and prepared, because from my understanding of him, even your family will not be safe"

Jinwoo's gaze hardened. "I understand the risks, but we can't let him continue unchecked. Every day we wait, he grows stronger. We need to act now."

Kade's newfound power coursed through him as he stepped out of the warehouse, the cool night air invigorating him. The strength he had gained from consuming Hwang Dongsoo was immense, but it was the new ability that excited him the most.

Over the next few days, Kade meticulously planned the spread of his virus. He released it in the most populated locations throughout the city, allowing the winds to carry the invisible threat far and wide. The infection spread silently and swiftly, targeting unsuspecting civilians and lower-ranked hunters first.

The initial symptoms were mild, almost unnoticeable—a slight cough, a hint of fatigue. But as the days passed, the virus began to take hold.

As the infection rate increased, chaos erupted throughout the city. Hospitals were overwhelmed with patients exhibiting strange symptoms. Panic spread as people realized something was terribly wrong. The Hunter's Association and local authorities struggled to contain the outbreak, but they were too late.

Kade's virus was unstoppable. Within days, millions were infected. The streets were filled with people moving in unison, their eyes glazed over with a vacant, obedient stare. Kade's control was absolute, his army of infected growing with each passing hour.

Among those affected was Sung Jinha, Sung Jinwoo's beloved sister. She had been going about her day, unaware of the danger that loomed over the city.

Jinha had felt slightly off for a few days, a mild cough, some fatigue—but she had brushed it off as stress. It wasn't until she was sitting in her room, trying to focus on her homework, that she realized something was terribly wrong. Her vision blurred, and she felt a strange compulsion to leave her house.

As she walked through the city, Jinha's mind felt clouded. She moved with the same vacant expression as the other infected, her actions no longer her own. The virus, now in control, had taken over her will.

Sung Jinwoo returned home that evening, exhausted from the ongoing crisis. His mind was filled with thoughts of how to confront Kade and stop the spread of the mysterious virus. He had no idea that his own sister had become one of the infected.

"Jinha, I'm home!" Jinwoo called out as he entered the apartment. The silence that greeted him was unsettling. He quickly scanned the rooms, a growing sense of dread creeping over him.

He found her in the living room, staring blankly out the window. "Jinha!" he rushed to her side, his heart pounding. "Are you okay?"

She turned to look at him, but her eyes were unfocused, and she seemed to look through him rather than at him. "Jinwoo…" she murmured, her voice distant.

Panic surged through Jinwoo. He gently shook her, trying to snap her out of it. "Jinha, what's wrong? Talk to me!"

But there was no response. She was there, but not there at the same time. Jinwoo's mind raced. He had seen similar symptoms in the other infected, but he had never imagined it would hit so close to home.

Desperate, Jinwoo contacted the Hunter's Association, seeking immediate medical assistance. Within minutes, a team arrived and began examining Jinha.

One of the medics shook his head. "She's showing the same symptoms as the others. We'll take her to the quarantine facility for further observation."

Jinwoo's heart sank. "Take care of her. Please."

As they took Jinha away, Jinwoo felt a mix of helplessness and rage. How could this have happened? He knew the infection was spreading rapidly, but he had hoped his family would be safe.
