The Boars Hunt (2) (NEW!)

I have prepared well enough for the hunt today or so I thought.

Using the coins I gained, I brought potions for mana and stamina recovery and also armour for defence against physical attacks.

When hunting monsters near the villages, it is important to have a physical defence (DEF), rather than a magical defence (MDEF). The monsters here would have only physical attacks, so MDEF is useless.

Only after reaching towns, one would need MDEF. The monsters there would have magical attacks and are much more dangerous than the ones that are present near the villages.

I prepared for everything or thought so.

Once I spotted a boar, which is one of the monsters I had to kill to clear a quest, I replenished myself first before attacking. I wanted to attack it as silently as possible. It was important to strike it without causing any fuss.

If a stealth attack was launched, the opponent would be surprised and would have their guard up, giving a chance to deal a lot of damage, even critical damage if it was aimed properly.

This was a chance none would think to miss, especially against a boar. They have sturdy defences and the attack is also high. When they activate their skills, their speed increases too. It would be tough to land proper strikes when they activate their skill.

I unsheathed my sword and took my chance striking it.

Puchi!

[-25]

[Critical Strike]

It was a critical strike. I was lucky to get a strike like that and it made the boar lose 25 health points. It was a huge deal for a boar of that level. It was only level 9 and for a level 9 monster, the HP would be less than three hundred.

Most would be at two hundred or less but monsters like boars would have higher HP as their VIT would be the highest attribute.

Growl! Growl!

Thud! Thud!

When I started to hear the sounds, I thought that the boar was making those sounds in frustration, but I was wrong.

They appeared one by one.

It was then I understood what I had heard before. They are the sounds of hoofs and the grunts of the boars.

There are more than ten of them at least fifteen at the same place.

I couldn't understand how misfortunate I was to face them at the same time. No awakener had ever faced such a situation unless they walked into the boar's home.

Did I walk into their home?

Even then, how could there be fifteen of them at the same place?

I did what I could only do at the moment. I ran.

I mentally ordered my skeletons to hinder them and ran as fast as possible. I kept my physical shield active as I ran.

I had to cast numerous times both the [Physical Shield] and [Summon Skeleton] spells to keep them at bay.

Even with them, they were able to reach me, quite often. The shield protected me from damage but that doesn't mean I wasn't hurt.

When they land a hit, the damage would be taken by the shield but the force push would still be felt by me. With my higher stats, a strike or two wouldn't bother me, but five or more at the same time not giving me any time was truly horrendous.

This day was a disaster. First the boars, and while escaping them I ran into the river crocodiles. I was lucky to have escaped from them. It looks like I have to rest here in the forest for the night. I ventured too far into the forests and the potions I have are running out. I can't risk taking the route back to the village with those monsters.

I need to find some safe spot in the damn forest for now.

After searching for some time I found a tree, which looked safe enough to rest upon. I climbed it and found myself a big branch, that could hold me and also large enough so that I wouldn't fall down while sleeping.

Once I found the spot, I laid down there hoping to take a rest. It was a long day. Even though the moon had yet to appear, I was too tired to continue for the day.

There was nothing that I gained today but had to take losses. Most of the potions are out and also my armour has some holes. I estimate in a day or two, I would need new armour.

For that to happen, I need more coins.

The only gains I got today belong to my spells. With the continuous usage of the spells, as per the Evolution Skill requirement, two of them partially completed the requirement to evolve to the next rank.

Though the casting requirement was done, I was yet to become a 1-star ranker. Only then the spell would level up.

I need to level up as fast as I can. They would be useful for me.

The [Summon Skeleton (F)] spell would give me 10 skeletons per casting. These skeletons would have 10% of my attribute values. For example, when my STR is 10, it would have only 1 as STR.

If the same spell is of E-rank, then it would summon 20 skeletons per casting. These skeletons would have 20% of my attribute values. Here if my STR is 10, the skeleton would have a STR value of 2.

Though this can be used as an example, it wasn't the perfect example. If the skeleton summons was a spellcaster, its INT would be much higher than STR. Both would have a percentage value depending on me but the percentage would change.

For example, if it's E-rank then 20% should be the stats available to the summons. If a spell caster appears, then INT/WIS would be 25%-30% and there would be an equivalent decrease in physical stats such as STR, DEX, and CON.

Anyway, I need to reach level 20 as fast as I can, so that my spell will increase...

Ding!

A surprise came.

This is a saviour. This is how I'll get back at those boars and crocodiles for wasting my precious time and potions.
