In the closing days of the Schism War, Yuu drifted aimlessly, often listlessly, amidst the halls of Mt. Dakun.
He'd been assigned guards, unarmed ones, more for the sake of preventing him from hurting himself than keeping other threats at bay. Mostly, he stayed in his room or went to the stables where he could be with the horses, oxen, and draft dragons.
The latter was his favorite. They'd all but disappeared from cities when he was a child, and he remembered watching the lumbering lizards carrying loads of rice in from the highlands before trucks became more common.
He'd been medically fine for weeks by the time they put him in front of a different sort of doctor.
Dr. Jeng had been sympathetic and kind, and every time he came away from their talks, he felt just a little bit better about his situation.
