13 Learning to Fly
A/N: Thanks for giving me all your names for the Skrill (Honestly couldn't think of one) it really helps me out. Anyway, I've picked the name Indra, which was recommended by Liam_Martian_8799. Enjoy the new chapter!

'Ugh, it's been a few days since I fought this guy, and his wounds are only really now starting to heal.' I thought to myself as I petted the Skrill.
Sighing, I watched as the Skrill ate some fish before speaking to it. "Man, for such a large dragon you sure eat slowly..." I say laughing. Hearing me it sent a little shock of lightning at me.
"Ow!! Hey!!" I screeched as the dragon grunted and went back to eating the fish while ignoring my insults.
"Stupid dragon... Hmm, now that I think about it I haven't given you a name yet. I wonder what I could call you?" I asked myself, the Skrill glancing over at me and grunting, before I started listing off different names. "Durk, Gruff, Beak, HammerHead, MetalHead, Lightning?"
After about 30 minutes of listing off names, the stupid dragon could only shake its head at all the names I chose.
Groaning in frustration I thought long and hard, pausing before saying the last name I could think of. "How about... Indra?"
Raising its head nods its head as it lets out an approving growl.
"You like that name huh? Then from this moment onwards, your name is now Indra." I declared, smiling at Indra who proudly puffed his scaled chest out.

[Berk Arena]
Once again Gobber had everyone training against a Deadly Nadder, only this time it was being spectated by everyone in the village.
Eugene dodged out of the way of spines that it shot, as it headed for Astrid. As she dashed towards it she threw her axe at it, aiming for its head. Unfortunately, it deflected the axe with its horn before trying to bite down on her.
Rolling out of the way, the charging dragon ran toward Hicca, who was standing with a spiked mace before she dropped it. Not seeing her as a threat glancing at the dropped mace and then back at Hicca before getting distracted by someone yelling.
Turning both their heads they see Astrid screaming as she wields her axe, raising it to attack the dragon. Hicca, acting quickly, began scratching the dragon below the neck.
Right as Astrid got to the two the dragon fell to the ground unconscious. Astrid could only stare at the downed dragon and then at Hicca with a shocked expression before Gobber said the training was over. As everyone walked out of the arena Hicca rushed towards Eugene beaming with excitement.
"Did you see that Eugene I took down the dragon all by myself with only my hands! Go ahead~, tell me how great I am."
"Oh~ great and powerful Hicca, please spare this loyal servant of yours." Eugene said, sarcastically bowing. There was a brief pause between the two before they burst out laughing with one another, as they too left the arena.

The next day the teens were in the arena standing in front of a cage waiting for the dragon within to be released.
"Meet the Terrible Terror." Gobber said, releasing the mechanism to the gate, allowing the small hatch on the bottom to open revealing a small dragon to be only the size of a chihuahua, as the teens laughed at the tiny dragon.
Tuffnut standing in the middle of them all laughs harder than anyone before trying to crack a joke. "Ha! That's it! It's like the size of my-" Before he could finish the sentence the dragon attacked him.
"Ah! Get it off!" Screaming on the ground as the small dragon began biting his nose.
'Idiot...' Was the only thought Eugene could think as he watched Tuffnut squirm on the ground. Distracted by the display of idiocy, he saw Hicca use her shield to reflect the light, making the Terrible Terror let go of Tuffnut's nose to follow the shiny dot.
"Oh, I'm hurt! I am very much hurt!" He yelled as he rolled away from the dragon. Hicca continued using the light to guide the small dragon back to its cage as everyone stared at her in awe.
"Wow… wonder what training she's been doing. Cuz she is better than you ever were." Tuffnut said to the now annoyed Astrid.
"Nice work Hicca. I would have done something if I wasn't distracted by Tuffnut's stupidity."
"Hey, I take offense to that!" Tuffnut yelled at Eugene as he rolled his eyes, ignoring him as he talked with Hicca.

[The Forest Somewhere]
Astrid was practicing her axe throws in the forest grunting as she continued to throw her axe at different trees. She dislodged her axe from a tree before rolling, getting ready to throw it once more before pausing and staring at a surprised Hicca who was carrying a harness.
Quickly leaving the scene Hicca runs behind a boulder as Astrid follows her, disappearing from her sight, leaving an annoyed Astrid grumbling to herself.

[The Cove]
Using the newly crafted harness she made Hicca straps it on Toothless, hooking it up with his prosthetic tail fin.
"That should do it." She said, proudly looking at her work. Taking a few more minutes to make sure everything was working she took Toothless to a cliff, where she then tied a rope to a tree stump, before hooking it on Toothless.
"Ready to fly Toothless?" She asked the dragon, who grunted in approval. Hicca and Toothless practiced the new tail positions for hours, before the rope finally snapped, and bent the safety hook, leaving the rider and dragon attached.
"Oh, great." Hicca groaned out as she tugged on the broken hook.

Currently nighttime Hicca and Toothless arrived back in the village. Hicca, being as careful as possible, sneaked Toothless into the blacksmith shop to remove the connecting rope.
"Look who's back, and with the Night Fury no less." A voice came from the shop startling Hicca, and making the dragon growl.
"Easy there dragon, don't want to make the whole village come crashing down on you do ya?" Coming out of the shadows Hicca looks up to see Eugene standing above her. "How's it hanging?" He said, grinning before pulling her to her feet.
"It's going great... you remember Toothless right?" She said pointing to the dragon who was staring at a sheep in the distance.
"Yeah, but the question is why the heck you'd bring the dragon that the whole village is trying to kill here?" He asked her pointing to the dragon who was trying to get to the sheep.
"Well, you see- ugh, I'm kind of stuck to him." She told him trying to pull Toothless back from leaving the shop. As she tried preventing the dragon from escaping his tail swished to the side knocking over swords and other objects causing lots of noise. "Uh oh…"
"Hicca? Are you in there?" A voice called out to her. Before Eugene could stop her Hicca climbed out of the window to meet the person outside.
"Ugh, why is she impulsive sometimes?" Eugene asked himself, slapping his hand to his face, as he looked at the dragon beside him. "Hey…"
As Hicca stood in front of the window she was met with Astrid staring at her strangely. "Astrid. Hey! Hi, Astrid. Hi, Astrid. Hi, Astrid."
"I normally don't care what people are usually doing, but you're acting weird. Well, weirder." She said, right before Hicca was pulled through the window by Toothless.
Rushing toward the window Astrid quickly opens it to find no one inside, not noticing Hicca fly away with Toothless.

[Berk Docks]
Destroyed longships were now coming back from the expedition to find the dragons next. As Stoick was helped out of the ship he was met by Gobber who was waiting for him.
"Well, I trust you found the nest at least?" He asked helping Stoick off the boat.
"Not even close." Stoick responded annoyed at their failure to locate the nest.
"Ah. Excellent." Gobber said, sarcastically.
As continued to walk through the docks Stoick began talking again. "I hope you had a little more success than me."
"Well, if by success, you mean that your parenting troubles are over with, then... yes."
Stoick stopped abruptly trying to think of what Gobber meant before some of the Vikings came running down towards him.
"Congratulations, Stoick! Everyone is so relieved."
"Out with the old and in with the new, right?!"
"No one will miss that old nuisance!"
"The village is throwing a party to celebrate!"
Stoick looked to the side at Gobber with a questioning look. "She's gone?"
"Ehm yeah... most afternoons. But who can blame her? I mean the life of a celebrity is very rough. She can barely walk through the village without being swarmed by her new fans."
"Hicca?"
"Who would've thought, eh? She has this way with the beasts."

[Above the Ocean]
Hicca was flying above the water, riding on Toothless' back as she looked at a sheet of paper with different tail positions on it.
"Alright bud, we're gonna take this nice and slow. Here we go. Okay, position three… no, four.
Shifting the gear of the tail mechanism they glide for a bit before she checks the paper again and shifts the gear into another position.
"Alright, it's go time. Come on, bud, come on, bud!" Diving toward the sea, Toothless' wings skidded across the water as they flew right above it.
"Yes, it worked!" Hicca shouted in excitement before flying Toothless into one of the sea stacks. "Sorry!"
Flying a bit further she tries turning Toothless only for them to fly into another sea stack.
"That was my fault."
Growling Toothless tilts his head quickly, slapping Hicca in the face with his ear.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm on it. Position four, uh, three." Shifting the gears of the tail, Hicca and Toothless begin to ascend into the sky climbing higher and higher.
"Yeah! Go baby! Yes! This is fantastic! The wind in my..." Before she could finish her sentence the wind blew her sheet of paper off its clip. "Cheat sheet! Stop!!"
Hicca's diagram flies away as she tries to catch it, unknowingly unhooking her safety cord. Without a rider, both Hicca and Toothless begin to plummet toward the Earth.
"Nooooo!!! Oh, crap! Oh, gods! Oh, no! Alright! You gotta kinda angle yourself! Okay, no, no, no... come back down towards me! Come back down- Yow!"
As they fell Toothless and Hicca began spinning in circles, unable to control their bodies in the air. Trying to get to Toothless, his tail smacked her causing her to further lose control over herself in the air. Many thoughts went through Hicca's head as the ground began approaching ever so closer.
Reaching out for Toothless, Hicca desperately attempted to grab the harness. When she finally got close enough to grab it she hooked herself back on before pulling back on Toothless.
Toothless correcting himself spread his wings trying to slow their descent as they fell closer and closer toward the ground. Almost on the ground, Hicca held the sheet of paper with the tail positions, she could not look at it due to the wind speed.
"Ah! Screw it!" Throwing away the paper, she shifts the gears of the tail, allowing Toothless to maneuver with her as they work together to smoothly swerve through rocks.
As they come out the other side Hicca takes a sigh of relief, before shouting in excitement. "Yeah~!" Toothless also celebrates by shooting a blast of fire while flying through it. "Ah come on!"
