Four Women

"Go." Aya said to Rue after discussing their plan and the consequences that could befall Max if they failed.

Their talk was brief only taking a minute, but the content was rich and enlightening. They had to emerge if they wanted to succeed in this. It's true to say that Rue has been acting dumb since the start, but what if she was just dumber than everyone thought. Or what if she held a trump card, I couldn't care less.

She was young and capable. With the help of Aya, she built an empire and she ruled at the top as its rightful queen. Rue was humble and graceful. She used her money, power and influence to mostly develop and help the most unfortunate people in almost half of the country.

She was an idol and admired by everyone, if not for the young age she could confidently run for an official position in the government and hold it without worries. Unfortunately for her, she has always hidden behind the scenes. And mostly had to relocate every time to avoid being sniffed about by paparazzi.

But now thinking of what Aya has proposed, she was willing to try though she didn't know how she would fair. Rue knew from Aya that one of the occupants from the helicopter could travel between one point and another in the blink of an eye. Rue didn't believe in such things but now had no choice to do it. If that individual decides to interfere with her, then she would have to measure up with her.

Rue got out of the car and walked towards Maxwell. She was confident in herself as she could finally reveal to the whole world what she is made of. She was happy but at the same time couldn't forget what Aya had insisted on so much.

"Be careful, you may find yourself in a life-threatening situation without even knowing how it came to be."

"Okay, I'll keep it in mind." That's what she said.

She had many thoughts coursing through her mind at that time. As she looked at Maxwell who was a couple of meters ahead of her. She felt it, it was life-threatening so she stopped in her tracks.

Screech!

Rue looked back to see the black SUV suddenly braking hard. It seemed that the driver was driving at an extremely high speed as it skidded for several meters before coming to a stop just a few meters ahead of the Hypersport.

"You are Vega if am not wrong." Rue asked looking back at the woman who got out of the black SUV.

'She is so beautiful. It's good that Maxwell saved her back then.'

She shook her head as the woman a couple of meters away from her, was intimidating enough and she couldn't help but think of her.

"I believe we haven't formally met. Yes am Vega, and you must be Rue Adams." Vega answered as she sized up the teenager in front of her.

"Yes, I am. It seems that you are well informed." Rue said not at all shocked that someone knew her full name.

"It comes with the job. I advise you to leave from here as your parents might be worried about you." Vega said with a serious look.

"You are young and you can sue him in court. The government will be happy to compensate you for the emotional trauma that you have gone through." Vega said again after seeing that Rue wasn't flinching from the spot.

"And you?"

"Don't worry about me, I'll take care of everything here."

"No thank you! I think I'll take my chances." Rue's face now looked serious. It was like she was issuing a warning.

"Oh my! Why would you? He kidnapped you earlier so it's best if you leave." A confused Vega couldn't fathom what she was witnessing as she saw the changes in the teenager just a couple of meters away from her.

"No, Maxwell didn't kidnap me. He narrated to me the situation he was in and I decided to help wholeheartedly."

"What!?"

A few meters away from the two women. The Chief was seen and her men to be still in shock. They probably hadn't anticipated the events that have happened today.

It was early in the morning when they received a few calls reporting of gunshots sounds and explosions that were going on near China Town. Two vehicles went to check it out but soon called for backup. But what they saw shocked them. The whole precinct came and soon the whole neighborhood was surrounded.

And now they have barely escaped when a chopper threatened to fall on them. The Clean Up Squad soldiers were still helping each other escape from the fallen helicopter. No one knew what could happen as it still had enough firepower to turn the whole place into a mountain of fire.

The Chief was still checking up on her men when she saw him. At first sight, she thought, such a young man to entangled in such a mess.

He was probably the same age as her daughter who was still in college. So naturally, she felt warm towards the young man. She started making her way to him in order to help as he looked to be in shock or something worse.

As she came closer to him, she couldn't help but notice the weird atmosphere around him. She frowned and stopped dead in her tracks, she was shocked and scared at the same time. What she was seeing now was practically impossible as it was only known from novels and TV programs. She was so shocked beyond measure.

It was simple. She knew the young man a couple of meters in front of him. He was the one that led to her downfall.

Anger coursed through her veins making her blood boil. She held out her handgun ready to end him. It would be better without people like him in this world. She had conflicting thoughts, the major one being to end him right there and then so as to save everyone the headache.

But at the same time, she was afraid and took a step back. Then a second one and finally had the courage to yell to her men.

"Everyone clear the area. NOW!!"

"This is strange." Thanos said as they approached the Hypersport.

"What's strange?" Kai asked.

"The electromagnetic waves in this place are distorted. And the heat signature indicates that the Death Storm is in that silver sports car. But the weird thing is that am unable to see through it in which should be impossible given our technology."

"Do you mean that the car..."

"Yes." Thanos cut her off before she even finished what she was saying.

"Okay, we'll do that later. Let's get our target and head out we have spent more time than necessary here... Or maybe you could check it out. If it's here and you can get it, then don't hesitate."

Thud!

"Alright, be careful there's something weird around this car and those two." Thanos warned her.

They jumped from the helicopter as they were near their targets. It was easy for them as they had stronger bones and agility compared to the humans. They decided to not use her abilities as much as necessary.

In the White House, the president was seen looking through some documents. After a few minutes, she was signing them one after another as the clock ticked by. And within the next few minutes, she had finished but still couldn't help but think that she had made the biggest mistake of her career.

It was just that the country needed protection now more than ever as internal conflicts seemed to be on the rising trend recently.

"Make the necessary arrangements. And also prepare for a press conference tomorrow morning."

"Yes, Madam President." Her Secretary said.
