Overseer of Butterflies

Yel's party finished the dungeon.

"Wait, Rin said she wanted to stay in Sura with Jin," Lee said. 

"Huh," Yel said. "I mean, that's fine, we can just grind on our own. Goal: level 30!"

Sura, City of the Light.

Jin walked towards the mage guild. The Street of Guilds was no longer deserted like when Yel first visited.

The streets were full of players who wanted to join a guild and become a leading figure.

Unlike other games, the class Guilds in Awaken were completely run by players with just 1 instructor NPC, which was the guild master.

Jin walked towards the mage building along with many other new players.

But the only difference was that when Jin entered the building, a woman leaning on the front desk talking with the guild master NPC looked up at Jin.

Jin made eye contact with her and the woman's eyes widened. She said something to the guild master and walked towards Jin.

Jin tilted her head and looked at the woman. She didn't know what attracted her to the woman, perhaps it was just a mistake.

As the woman got closer, Jin saw a name floating on her head: "Sofie Suresa, Head of Royal Mage Division".

Jin widened her eyes. The woman was an NPC, but she wasn't a regular NPC. Suresa as her last name, she was one of the most upper class NPC in the game.

 "Hey," she said, holding her hand out to Jin. "Sofie Suresa, pleasure to meet you."

Jin shook her hand, "Me?"

Sofie nodded, "Yes, you. Lemme get straight to the point: I would rather like it if you joined the Suresa Mage Division."

"Me? Why me?"

Sofie smiled, "You have talent."

Jin looked at her talent. [Butterfly in the Sky (A)]: Attack power scales with Magic Attack and Butterfly's Energy.

Jin told Lee about her talent when she first logged in. Lee said it wasn't very clear on what it is. Butterfly's Energy didn't seem like something that was super important and the only thing that mattered was the attack power scaling with Magic Attack. This makes Jin suited for being a mage. 

But because mages already have built in attack power scaling with Magic Attack, the talent seemed useless.

Yet now Jin thinks about it. Butterflies were a recurring theme that she kept seeing in Sura. Yel's hide armour, Tairitsu's debuff skill, and Jin looked at Sofie's uniform and badge: butterflies.

"You are really talented," Sofie continued. "I feel like you are a lost child of the Suresa Family, born to be an Overseer of Butterflies."

"What's an Overseer of Butterflies?" Jin asked.

"It's a subclass of the mage class," Sofie explained. "It is the royal class of the Suresa Family, the core of the Suresa Military."

"An Overseer controls the power of the butterflies to debuff the enemies, and then by igniting all the debuffs, they create strong burst damage on the enemies."

"Your talent is perfectly crafted for this," she continued. "Once you join, I will reveal the secrets of the Overseer to you."

Jin thought about it. Jill and Yel were both super strong. Lee can tank, Tairi can debuff, Hika can buff. Yin is a great battlemage and Yang is a great supporting mage that is going the summoner path. Wu has a broken absolute hit talent.

After all, only she remained to be a weakling.

Jin looked at Sofie, "What do I have to do?"

Sofie smiled, "Follow me, it's simple."

Royal Palace of Suresa.

Jin looked at the palace in amazement. She admired the palace at first sight and now she is in the palace herself.

It is every teenage girl's dream to be in a beautiful palace.

They walked past guards on the way; all of them saluted to Sofie.

"Don't be jealous," Sofie said. "Once you become an Overseer, you will be tutored by me and become high in ranks. With your talent, you will soon replace me."

"No no," Jin shook her head. "You will be my mentor, I will never replace my mentor."

Sofie laughed, "Haha, I like that!"

She patted Jin on the head and walked on.

They entered the main palace. 

Sofie knelt on one knee and bowed towards the drawn curtains. Jin copied her and did the same.

"Head of Suresa Mage Division, Sofie Suresa wants to speak to Your Majesty."

"Rise, my warrior," an old voice sounded behind the curtains.

"What do you wish to see me for?" the queen asked.

"Wanderer Annihilation has great talent to become an Overseer," Sofie bowed and said. "I wish to take her as my disciple and train her to be my successor."

"Oh?" the queen said. Jin felt a piercing gaze on her. Although she couldn't see the queen, she still felt a feeling of being invisible. "I see…"

"Wanderers do have exceptional talents," the queen said. "Annihilation, do you wish to become an Overseer of Butterflies and serve great Suresa?"

"Yes, I do," Jin replied and bowed.

[Class advanced to "Overseer of Butterflies", Class skill tree unlocked, Talent [Butterfly in the Sky (A) Lv 1 → Lv2], Position in Suresa Royal Family promoted to "Chrysalis"]

"Annihilation," the queen said. "You are now part of the Royal Family. You will be given the last name Suresa."

Jin bowed.

The queen continued, "You wanderers have queer names. You need a normal name."

"You can call me-" Jin started.

She was cut off, "Since you are called Annihilation, I will take the start of your name "Anni". Annie Suresa!"

"Here!" Jin saluted.

"Annie Suresa, you will be the new Chrysalis of our Family," the queen announced. "You will still carry your role as a wanderer, but you will always have our family behind your back. Do you remember that?"

"Yes!" Jin said.

"Now, my child," the queen's voice softened. "You should probably go with your mentor and practise your skills as an Overseer."

Jin and Sofie bowed and left the palace.

Sofie led Jin to the Royal training grounds.

She gave some equipment to Jin, "Here you should probably have this."

Jin looked at her character window, which changed drastically:
