Saphira could hear murmurs around her when she started regaining her consciousness.
She can tell that these murmurs aren't only the voices of her friends but many other people.
She could even hear some older voice and some younger ones, like that of a child.
Hunter, who was watching over her, saw her furrow her brows and when he was prepared to make the rest keep quiet, she opened her eyes.
Looking at the ceiling, her frown deepen.
It doesn't look like the ceiling of a house, it even looks like how the earth looks when you look at it from below.
"Where are we?" she asked feeling lazy to check her surrounding.
She felt tired and she has no desire to raise even her head to see where they are.
"Underground."
She stared at him upon hearing his answer.
"Zian and the rest created an underground place for the people who were able to survive. They hid here when they were attacked. But in the end, only about two hundred survived."
"..."
"We checked the area after you fell unconscious but we couldn't find anymore survivors."
"..."
Hunter sighed, "Yes, not even one percent of the population of the whole land survived. Only those who are here. As for the rest of the kingdoms not under Draco Empire, they were gone, annihilated."
Saphira sighed, "In the end, we weren't gods or deities. No matter how much we try we can only save as many as we can."
"Do you want to eat?" Hunter asked after informing her the current condition and seeing that she had accepted everything.
She though for a bit, she didn't feel like eating, she just want to sleep but then again, she needs more energy. She could only eat even just for a bit to ensure that she won't collapse due to hunger.
She nodded her head and extended both hands towards him.
She was still feeling lethargic and she didn't feel like getting up on her own.
Hunter chuckled and looked at her with his eyes filled with doting.
He held both her hands and helped her to stand up.
Upon standing up, she looked around and she could see that the people were indeed ranging in age, the reason for the range of voices she heard.
"All mythological beasts returned without any good news," Hunter told her.
The ones who roamed the land and killed the remaining demonic beasts and dark forces are the mythological beasts, Vermilion Bird included.
Saphira nodded her head, "How about Zian?"
"He was the one who lead us here. He woke up not long after you collapsed," he replied gesturing at a place not far from where they are.
Tables and chairs were there, fruits and some natural foods are prepared and the other six were already seated.
With them was Zian, who no one would think was in front of death's door hours ago.
He was looking energetic and laughing with the rest.
Saphira smiled seeing as they were able to save him.
"Lily told us that you overestimated yourself by creating the barrier. You wouldn't have collapsed if you only fought after you helped in healing Zian," Hunter told her.
There was a tinge of reprimanding on his tone.
"Sorry, my mind wasn't completely clear a while ago. I just felt that I need to do this and that when Raynisha escaped."
She then looked at him, "I already told you right, we all can't be left alone. Because all of us are the same, we... are emotionally scarred. Scar that is too deep, it just won't disappear."
He looked at her straight in the eyes, he can tell since a while ago that something else have bothered her.
Raynisha's escape could indeed be the reason she was referring to but he felt that there could be something else but he couldn't think of anything more.
"Hey," Saphira greeted the others after they got close.
"Come on and eat," Stormie patted the space beside her.
Saphira sat down and took some fruits to eat.
Hunter took a big leaf, serving as the plate, and placed a few cooked fishes and vegetables.
He placed it in front of her before getting some for himself.
Zian raised an eyebrow, "You know I should be thanking first but I can't stop myself from being curious. Have you two changed your relationship status?"
"No," Saphira instantly said.
Zian furrowed his brows and he looked at her as if saying that he does not believe her.
"You don't believe me?" Saphira asked while munching on a fish.
Hunter took a cup and filled it with some freshly squeezed fruit juice.
He gave it to her, which she took after letting go of the fish, and drank half of it in one go.
"Well, what about those teeth clenching sweetness you are showing now?" Zian asked rubbing his arms as he felt like hundreds of ants are walking on his sking while he watched them.
"What's wrong with our interaction?" she even tilted her head to the side looking so innocent.
Zian was lost for words with her answers, he could only look at the rest asking for answers.
Nixon laughed, "She already answered you though, they didn't change their relationship."
Zian was even more confused.
Ridge wiped his glasses, "They are engaged, what's wrong with their interaction?"
And that is when everything dawned on Zian.
That's right they were engaged.
They simply interact in a lesser sweet manner in the past that he had forgotten.
Seeing his look of being dumbfounded, the others couldn't help but to laugh as well.
