The Test

Jeanne appeared inside a spaceship, she was in the control room, she could the space through the gigantic window of the spaceship.

She walks to the controller, tap on it, by doing this a hologram appeared and she could see the information she wanted. Right now, she had a little army 26 spaceships with 20 small spaceships, 5 mediums and 1 large for all Lieutenants, Captains and the biggest for her, since she is the only Major.

All of these spaceships are equipped with laser beam, which the humanity develops during the last 5 hundred years, there are three sizes, small, medium and large, where they are equipped according to the spaceships.

Also, with the radar of the ship she could see the supposed Faran's ships arriving, which were composed of 50 with 3 large one, 15 medium and the rest were only small spaceships.

She contacted her allies with the scrambled call with her ship so that, the enemies couldn't hear her.

By doing so, 25 faces appeared in front of her, being all the Lieutenants and Captains.

"Hello everyone, I am Major Leroy and I will be in charge of this battles, first I will appoint the person who will replace me in case I will be defeated, this person is Captain Knight." She said while looking at everyone.

"We do not have a lot of time, so I will be quick. The enemy army's is moving fats, we will engage in combat in about five minutes, I will tell you my plan. We will split into 5 groups, with four groups who consist with one Captain and four Lieutenants and my group which have the same distribution with my spaceship in addition. Two groups will go together, Captain Knight will be leading with support of another Captain, the other two groups will be attacking on the right and left side while mine groups will go behind for a surprise attack. Understood?"

"Yes, Major!" everyone yelled.

"Good luck everyone." She said while cutting off the call.

All groups followed the plan and divide themselves, Jeanne and the other in her group was being in a 4-1-1 formation with the small ships in front, then the medium one, to finish by the large one. They were doing a big detour to not be detected by the Faran, the other groups will mostly try to gain time for her to be able to surprise them, since battleships can only attack in front. To be able to attack behind, they must turn themselves into the right direction, which is the main weak point than humanity grasped when being attacked by the Faran, but they have the sale problem, since the energy must go in only one direction for battleships to be able to function properly.

5 minutes later, the group leading by Arthur arrived at the minimum distance to be able to hit the enemy.

"Everyone, prepare yourself, charge the small weapon and load the medium one, we will move with formation A!" he shouted.

This formation was 6-4 type formation, with 6 small ship at the front and at the end 2 small ships with on each side a medium one.

The two other groups were also in position.

"Remember, don't stop moving, we are outnumbered, an error and it's our end. Now shoot with your small weapon!" roared Arthur.

At the same time the Faran's troop and Earthling's spaceships shoot at each other, while the Faran could not move because they were encircled, the one from humanity could move to avoid they're laser beams. Like that in a matter of few minutes, Faran's civilization lost 5 medium one and 13 small one, while Earthling lost 1 medium and 4 small one.

While at the beginning, the humanity had the advantages, they could not win just by the enemies' weapon is stronger.

5 minutes pass, while the Faran's lost 1 third of their total troop, Earthling lost half of them.

Suddenly a vocal message was heard.

"I will take command of all your battleships, just trust me." Jeanne said.

Jeanne was tapping on her hologram keyboard and just like that all the spaceships were much more coordinated, the middle weapons were now used with much more proficiency. Also, some decoy which are mini battleship made with scrap material appeared to confuse the enemy, normally they were with the large battleship, but Jeanne decided to let them follow the other groups to be able to better control the situation.

Because of that they were able to take down one of the large spaceships.

Just at this moment, Jeanne groups appeared from a meteoric belt behind the enemies and begin shouting while charging the large weapon.

The battle continues during 1 more hour before the last shoot of the large weapon from Jeanne battleship take down the last battleship which is a large one from the Faran's. At this moment, the result of the battle was the Faran's were eliminated while Earthling were remaining with only the large battleship but badly damage.

Jeanne wad disconnected from the virtual headset, stood up and at the moment she opens her eyes, she meets the ones from her superior.

"Very good, Major Leroy, it seems than making you a Major and qualifying you by a genius was not a lie" he said with a big smile on his face.

He turned and looked at everyone.

"Now you understand why our situation is so difficult. First this is only their weakest army, they are more numerous than us and their technology is more advanced, even though these spaceships are certainly the most advanced they have. But you did great, especially you Jeanne, your strategy was very good and your capacities are not one than many can make."

Jeanne blushed a little after hearing that.

"Tomorrow go to the General's office, with your capacities you can do much more, you will work with the higher up to upgrade your different strategies and we need young blood, since you will certainly be the one to combat the Faran's in around 40 years, maybe we can prepare much fluidly." With a grin on his face he gets out of the room while saying another thing.

"For the others you were also very admirable, Arthur was the second best after Jeanne. Come at the same time and place tomorrow for another training."

After eating in the cafeteria with Arthur and Leo, she followed Leo to the lab since she was scared of being lost again.

They arrived at a room with big machines they saw all the new recruit from the lab field with at the front an Asian woman with long dark hair and bright green eyes looking at Jeanne since she entered.

"Hello everyone, I'm a Yukina Xu, a Principal Researcher. I will guide you during your first year here, you will continue your projects and also we will give you some researches to be able to guide our civilization toward a higher standard and be able to beat those low lives of Faran." She said with an angry and hush voice at the end.

"I'm happy to see that the new genius of our civilization is here, miss Jeanne Leroy. I wanted to meet you since I heard of you, I know that the one who made the decoys of our battleships sturdier with only scrap materials was you, I was truly impressed when I read that. I understand why you are a rank above the rest, an Associate Researcher." She said with a grin while looking at Jeanne.

"Well, all of you can continue your projects for now, i will also do mine if you have any problems in your research asked your coworkers or me when you're really lost, maybe I can be of help, good luck" she turned and get to her own lab to start working.

Jeanne and Leo separated themselves to start working with the project they had, Leo continues with the problem of making more sturdy material for battleships while Jeanne writes her finished project with a detail explanation. It will be a big help during wars when it will be integrated with the battleships.

At the end of the day, Leo had gone to see Jeanne when she was walking by.

"So, when you will tell me what innovation you succeeded?" asked Leo.

"At the restaurant with Arthur, right now, I will talk to a superior to approve this." Said Jeanne.

She did go to see Miss Xu and presented her the new technology she finds, while looking at this, her direct superior was truly shocked.

"Just… incredible, Associate Researcher Leroy." She said while standing up

"Tomorrow come to the Director's office, I will go immediately report this to him, this is truly a major advancement to us and very crucial to our war"

Jeanne smiled and walks in the direction of a restaurant to eat.

While eating, she looks at Arthur and Leo.

"I will now say what was my new discovery" she said.

Both of them were looking at her with great expectation in their eyes.

"What I find out is that…"
