CH 29: Move Out

Ember whistled to gather everyone's attention. She wanted to go over the details and plan of the mission while they still had time beforehand.

"Alright. You know our task. Killing this Hammerhead guy. The reason why is because he had captured a Neo and experimented on the dead bodies of several others. The Neo who was captured alive is confirmed as dead.

This brings us to our secondary objective. Retrieve or destroy all Neo bodies that have fallen under this guy's hands as well as any data he had acquired.

Our equipment is simple. Any weapons you want to bring as well as comms and emergency extraction button to allow our Junction to know our location and to extract us when needed.

We will be getting dropped off 3 blocks from our target's location at 11 PM at night. This means it will be dark but this is also a time when many heroes will be active. The squad will be divided into 3 forces.

Myself and Dart will go after the first and primary objective. Neon will handle the secondary objective but will pull back in case the opposition is too strong or one of the other groups need assistance. Ruler will run perimeter. Everyone else's power catch too much attention or are not useful enough to handle the heroes who patrol the area.

The people we have to worry about interference from are Spider-Man, Daredevil, Elektra, and hired goons under Kingpin such as Shocker.

The expected mission duration is 12 minutes. 5 to get into the building and reach our targets, 5 more to handle our targets, and the remaining two for Junction to teleport to us and extract us, group by group. Any questions?"

No one had any objections or questions. The plan was logical and made sense. No one wanted to screw up a perfectly good plan due to their ego because this mission was a test to determine how ready they were to join the official team.

Ember nodded seeing that no one had anything to say and sat down in her seat. Everyone double-checked their gear to make sure they had everything they needed. But when they saw Ruler put on a mask, everyone started questioning him.

"My mother can take on a literal god. If she found out I was helping with an assassination job, even if it is on a crime boss who has killed hundreds and ruined the lives of thousands, she will hunt down the Neo. We don't need to risk that kind of heat."

No one said anything after that because they could not find fault in his logic. Even their clan leader, Domina, was respectful around Ruler's mother due to her abilities.

Junction soon entered the room carry a gun in each of her hands. Everyone was surprised to see her armed. they figured she was only supposed to be the transportation. Seeing their confusion, Junction explained it to them.

She was actually going on another mission that needed to be done ASAP with the other main members of the clan. Therefore, she had to hurry to send the group to New York and also told them that there may be some slight delays with their exit times so to be prepared.

Junction released a swirling green mist into the air before instructing the junior team to enter. Once the group entered the mist, they were blinded it by for a few seconds before the mist disappeared.

When their vision cleared, each of the 4 was standing atop a building with neon lights all around them and the sounds of civilians and vehicles beneath them. Ember immediately took command.

"Looks like we are here. Destination is 3 blocks that way. Let's move fast!"

Everyone nodded before making their way to the building. When they arrived at their destination, everyone except Ruler rushed into the building and did not even bother with trying to be quiet.

Ruler stood on a building outside that had a clear view on the entrances and exits to the buildings as well as the common roads and paths to enter it. He could even see/hear some of the explosions and lights created by his teammates taking out Hammerhead's goons as well as the returned gunfire.

"You guys are being too loud and noticeable. I've already seen 4 people pull out their cellphones in the past 30 seconds since you have entered. Cops and heroes will be on the scene soon. Get to your tasks and let's finish this fast."

Ruler commanded his comrades over the comms. He heard and Neon and Dart grumble but before they could protest Ember spoke up.

"He's right. We are being too careless. Just cause we can take them does not mean we need to. Group 1 needs to head to the top floor before Hammerhead can fortify his position. Group 2 needs to head to the basement and deal with the materials. Go now!"

""Roger.""

Ruler was happy that Ember was being reasonable. He may have said what needed to be said but in a formal team setting like he was in, he said it the wrong way. Luckily, Ember did not point it out, at least at the moment.

Ruler saw several police vehicles driving up the street with their sirens wailing and it seemed like they were aiming for the Head building where the operation was happening.

"Incoming police. Engaging them from range to use myself as a distraction."

"Copy that. You are good to go. Do not get captured."

Ruler swiftly pulled out his wings and flew 3 buildings over before beginning to chant.

" Focus the prana from the air. Form the construct that shall be my weapon. Load my weapon with the ammunition it needs. Release my wrath upon my enemies!"

Ruler made two neon lotus appeared being his back before their centers began glowing brightly and opened fire upon the incoming police. Although the shots were not too accurate, seeing bolts of light being shot at them caused the police to drive recklessly and crash. It also diverted the attention from the Head building.

Seeing that his plan had worked, Ruler was about to report it to his team but he dodged to the side to avoid a metal object being thrown at his head. He turned to look at who dared to attack him and was surprised to see a familiar figure.

The man was clad in red and had horns upon his head. On his chest, was two overlapping D's while his belt held several batons.

"Ruler to team. Police are distracted. Dealing with a hero. No worries. Street-level."
