Break Line
(Zagreus PoV)
"Zagreus.... Zagreus.... it's time to wake up, let's eat early so we won't be late!"
Gobber's voice echoed throughout the room and quickly roused me from my sleep, I am a light sleeper by the way, as soon as I open my eyes and my awareness starts working again, I soon remember the things that happened last night, I can't help but let a smile run across my face in complete joy.
It was the first time I got to know my father-in-law the right way, since my other "father-in-law" who was also my master, and I didn't have to prove myself to him, since Tigress choosing me and liking me was reason enough for him.
You must be thinking that I am a garbage, asshole, selfish for liking several girls and even more selfish for not wanting to share them? Yes! Well, fuck it. I like lots of girls and I'm not going to change that part of me.
In fact, they stay with me knowing that they will share me and the fact that I am in worlds where this is accepted makes it much easier, so I can and will be with whoever I want, in a completely consensual way of course.
Ahh, I also talked to Astrid of course and everything is already clear about my harem, although she was annoyed but accepted it right away, she reacted in a similar way to Tigress, as if she expected me to ask for this, which was probably caused by the culture of this world.
And speaking of Tigress, I really miss her and I need to talk to Astrid about her, although I talked to Astrid about the harem but I omitted the part about Tigress since I didn't know where to start.
But I plan to explain the whole situation part by part about her being from another world and etc, I already plan to bring Tigress to Berk as soon as possible but I need to build my influence around here before I bring 6 Masters who were basically human weapons to Berk out of nowhere.
*sigh* Now, I'd better stop rambling and get back to the present before I'm late. I get out of bed and walk to a bucket full of clean water in my room and wash my face with it, to fully awaken my consciousness with the contact with the cold water and clean my face, more precisely my eyes and mouth.
After that, I walk over to the table and it is littered with fruits of various colors and white bread, Gobber was already putting breakfast on the table, I then sit in the chair in front of Gobber as I take a juicy looking apple and take a big bite.
"Good morning!" I say and get it. "Good morning!" Back as a response from Gobber.
We talk for a few minutes about the upcoming fight, but we don't talk about anything important, it was just Gobber asking if I was ready to kill my first Dragon and about what I should do and blah blah blah.
I respect Gobber a lot but this "Viking" and "Muscle" part of him is annoying sometimes, not only him but everyone in Berk, but I hope to change this over time as I present my ideals and slowly become the leader of Berk and have it as my personal army or at least have Hiccup as the leader so I can call in favors from him in the future.
But back to the present situation, I was again in the corridor between the outer and inner gates, waiting for the moment when the match would begin, together with my Hammer and Shield reinforced with Black Iron in my right and left hand respectively.
The crowd was excited as they shouted and made noise slamming their iron weapons against the chains surrounding the arena, soon I hear the familiar voice of Stoick which stands out from the voices of the crowd who slowly fell silent to hear their leader.
"Well, at last! Here we are, on the last day of Dragon training!"
Stoick said with a smile adorning his normally serious face, although he is disappointed that his son had not won, still, he was proud of Hiccup's change and maturation so he was genuinely happy with the result.
"Zagreus becoming the winner of this competition, may have been a big surprise to you. But, if there is anyone in our village who believed in him, who believed that in just a few weeks after he arrived here, who believed that he had the potential to place first in Dragon Training, that person... is me."
"Besides having a history with Dragons, as we all do, from the moment I saw him, I realized that he would be someone great...that he would be the best warrior I have ever seen and that statement has been proven correct. For today he becomes a Viking. TODAY HE BECOMES ONE OF US!"
And at the end of his speech, the crowd went wild. Well, it seems that Stoick has a talent for getting people involved, it seems that the PERK- Born Leader is not just for show after all.
The gate in front of me begins to open and out comes a ten foot long Red Dragon completely covered in its own flames, it was the Dragon known to the Vikings as Monstrous Nightmare.
The moment I looked into his eyes, I noticed various emotions, of fear, anger, confusion and pain. But when he saw me, his expression was more of confusion since he was ordered to attack humans and he didn't know how to regard me due to my draconic lineage.
I take a deep breath, and drop my weapons as a show of confidence and try to communicate with him.
'It's okay kid, I'm not like them, I won't hurt you!'
Although I received nothing but grunts in response I still managed to calm him down a bit.
The flames that covered him soon cease and at that moment I slowly stretch my hand up to his head, and to return the gesture of trust I made to him, the Dragon closes his eyes and rests his head against my hand.
The crowd is silent, in shock at what was happening right in front of them, since not even in their wildest dreams could they have imagined such a thing.
Astrid looked on in amazement at this scene and her admiration for Zagreus increased even more.
'It's okay.... it's okay. I'm not like them... I won't hurt you.'
Even though I cannot understand them, and the same can be said for them, my intentions are being conveyed through the tone I am using in our mental conversation and through my body language.
I look at the crowd around me, the Dragon moves even closer to me looking for more pats on the head and I cannot stop a smile from invading my face, and keeping that smile I begin to tell the real facts about the Dragons.
"You see? The Dragons are not soulless monsters that attack at will, they have wills... feelings, they attack us only because they are ordered to but that doesn't mean we need to kill them, we can free them and stop this senseless war!"
"Stop the fighting."
Stoick said with a gruff tone that few people heard, but I don't feel afraid of him and if he is so arrogant as to think he knows everything then I will teach him a lesson.
"NO! I need you all to know this. They are not what we think they are. We don't have to kill them. On the contrary, we can help each other and have the long awaited peace."
"I SAID STOP THE FIGHT!"
And again Stoick speaks but now with an orderly tone as he rose from his throne and hit the railing with a one-handed Battle Hammer, which had the result of scaring the Dragon in front of me, but I quickly manage to calm him down before something bad happens.
"Stoick, you as a leader should be more open-minded! I know what I am telling you may seem... and even be a great nonsense to you but it is the truth, I am showing you now that Dragons are not bad but are just misunderstood animals."
As I spoke this to Stoick and guided the Dragon who still had his eyes closed to his cell, and after placing him there and restraining him I hear Stoick's cold voice.
"Come with me!" Stoick said as he opened the gate and looked deep into my eyes as if looking for something in me that intrigued and agitated him.
*creeps* Him looking at me like that, even though I know I can defeat him, still makes me a little afraid. Really the experience should not be underestimated, I will be more careful with this kind of person.
Under the still shocked looks of the crowd, I follow Stoick to his house but not before calming Astrid by looking at her and showing her that I'm okay while keeping my walk behind the red-haired giant.
And after a few minutes of walking, I realize that he has not led me to his house but to the banquet hall... or was it the strategy hall? Or both. It is probably both at the same time, the Vikings are quite clever in some ways, although this is no big deal and I am just rambling on as I walk so as not to get bored.
The big redhead, leader of the Hooligans, stands facing me and how fucking tall he was, this fucking giant, I had to look up to face him but I wasn't afraid at all.
"Zagreus, what you did in the Arena was irresponsible! What if someone was hurt! what if you were killed! a Dragon is not something to be taken lightly. I don't know how you controlled that Dragon, or what kind of trickery you used, I just don't want you to lower the tribe's guard against the Dragons with these ideas of yours."
Stoick said in an irritated manner but keeping calm, I am sure what I did made him very angry and even his son would not have his mercy, apparently the fact that I " am " from the same Tribe as his late wife earned me some advantages.
"Stoick, I understand that you need to keep your people safe, but I have uncovered the whole reason and motive for this centuries long war between you and the Dragons. We can be the generation that ended the war."
I said facts and some emotional nonsense to bait him, Stoick's type of person is similar to an onion, multilayered but soft inside.
And from his expression that went from being so hard and serious to being more relaxed and light, I could tell that my words seem to have had an effect and he really seems to be considering before he starts talking again.
"And how did you find that out? And what did you find out? You said in the Arena that someone was running them, who or what is running them?"
Well, a question I had expected. Although, now I have to be careful from here on out since everything will depend on this moment.
"I managed to fly a Dragon to where her "Nest" as you call it was located, and there that the queen who commands the Dragons in the vicinity is located!"
And just as I had expected the previous question, I had already expected the reaction Stoick would have upon learning that I had discovered the Nest.
And I can't blame him since it means a lot to him, and I found out from Gobber that Stoick's father died on a journey in search of the Nest, so it means a lot to him that he finds and destroys the Nest, thus finally successfully avenging his father.
"Do you know, where, is, the Nest?" His tone of voice was cold, so cold that I had the feeling the temperature in the room dropped several degrees, even his body language changed to something more tense.
"How did you find it?" his tone of voice seemed to leave no room for anything but the answer he wants, but I wasn't going to stay under that way and I lightly activate my Haki to suppress the aura he was emanating and put pressure on him as well.
His expression is one of surprise, it seems he thought I would give in when he presses me like that, I say right away to him.
"Look Stoick, I'm not your son! You wouldn't want to force me like that, you wouldn't want me as an enemy, I appreciate that you have allowed me to remain in your Tribe and I want to and will help you."
"However... only if it is my way and I assure you that there will be no more needless deaths in this useless war."
I am not so good with words, I know I know, but I hope my intentions have been passed on and that Stoick will agree and not be hard-headed about it.
"Why should I trust my people's lives to you? A child who luckily discovered the Nest!"
Oho, it seems Stoick sent a test for me, to see how I would react, I hope I would do well since I have never been good at tests.
"First, if I wanted any harm to this Tribe, I would have done it while you were gone. Second, I didn't discover the Nest by luck, I convinced the Dragon to trust me and against the orders he received take me to his Nest."
*Sigh* "All right, you are right. But, you will have to tell me the plans you have to resolve this perennial war!"
Hehe, that was better than I expected, it seems my PERK- Charm is not just for decoration, I'll be honest with him and show him what I'm going to do.
Break Line
(PoV - 3rd Person )
Among many boring and repeated explanations about Dragons, Zagreus explained that he wants to train a group of people to tame some Dragons and fight the Queen.
Stoick quickly offered some of his best soldiers for the task, but Zagreus turned them down since they were already old and with their opinions built up, he wasn't going to be able to change them so quickly to another kind of mindset.
So Zagreus soon said that he wanted in the tamer group, and obviously the group consisted of: Astrid, Snotlout, Fishlegs, Tuffnut, Ruffnut and Hiccup.
The red-headed leader did not want his son to participate in this as he was concerned for his safety, although this is a bit contradictory as he wanted Hiccup to become a real Viking and now when given the opportunity he did not want to allow it.
But Zagreus' efforts with cunningly valid arguments convinced him to let Hiccup participate and fight in this war.
And after 6 perennially tedious months, with much training, adventures and battles the Rider's of Berk group was ready, together with the whole Tribe of Hairy Hooligans for the battle against the Queen to finally put an end to this centuries long war.
