Traveling

When I woke up the next day I counted I had eight silver coins left and got dressed for the day. I went downstairs it was still early in the morning and it seemed everyone was either at work in the farms or asleep. I got my horse and started to leave following the road. Minutes turned to hours and those hours became long.

After a little while I couldn't handle it anymore and took a small rest. When I looked around I saw I was coming closer to yet another smaller forest. Luckily I could see the giant capital in the distance and continued to make my way there.

As the night started to come down I neared the city but was still not there. I saw carriages going by me and others working fields and leaving for home. When I came to the gate the Baird's were about to closer hurriedly let me in. The city was quiet as people were asleep after working all day. I found a place and had the horses rest while I went into a nearby inn. Went I walked in it seemed the opposite of outside. Lots of people were in here enjoying themselves laughing and drinking.

I took a seat next to the stair that lead to the second floor. I went ahead and made a order for a sandwich and some water. When I started to eat I noticed two men looking at me strangely and decided to be careful for tonight.

"Hey sir can I get a room for the night." I asked the owner tending to the bar.

"Wish I could kid but we filled up already. Tell you what though. There is a real nice place four blocks down in that direction and take a right." He said pointing south.

I walked and and my way there but saw the two me lazily following. As I was rounding another corner two men bumped into and not by accident. Before they could get a grip I managed to pull away enough to grab a card any card.

"Activate" I said.

Name-Armored Hawk.

Stars- two

Power-15/15

The hawk can take any physical hit and is the same size as normal except they wear armor over their wings and back as well as their head. Can circle around and lead to prey or any specific target once it sees them. Reinforced talons make them as strong as a steel sword and more deadly due to how hard it is to do damage.

The hawk smashed into the two who tried to catch me and started shredding them with its talons while flapping its wings like crazy. The other two men saw this and ran forward each pulling a dagger but the hawk bought me enough time to draw my sword. When they saw the sword come out they became more skeptical considering daggers verse swords in a open street like this would not end well for them. But they each went different ways trying to surround me. Meanwhile the hawk scared the two others off and was turning around to help me.

The first man danced around with his dagger in hand while the other came around my side. I couldn't fight them like this so I swung hard and fast spinning a little and swinging the sword down and up before finally cutting the mans shoulder. I looked around and saw my hawk stabbing the other man with its talons as his sword hit the hawk over and over again like a fly against a mountain.

A dagger came flying at me but I blocked it with my sword as it clattered before me. The man I was fighting threw his dagger at me and started running.

"This is how you really throw a dagger." I say as I pick the dagger up and throw it. The dagger stuck itself into the mans back and he collapsed to the ground. The other man laid dead as my hawk entered back into its card and I continued on my way.

When turned the corner to a large inn with lights flickering through windows. I walked inside as closed the door behind me seeing how empty it was here. I could see only three drunks who were passed out on a table in the corner of the main room. I walked up to the counter and looked around one finale time.

"Anyone here. I would like to rent a room for the night." I said at a normal voice level.

A older man walked from the back and took a look at me before grabbing a key next to him.

"That would be thirty bronze coins." He said tossing me the key.

I put a silver on counter and walked up to my room thinking of sleep and the exams tomorrow. I awoke early in the morning as everyone started to get to work. I made my way down the quickly packed stone streets towards the academy. The academy was a separated part of the city with its own wall and a two large buildings and a tower.

When I approached the gates I saw a line starting to form as six instructors stood by the gate taking names and handing out items. Behind the gate I could see ten soldiers heavily armored looking like statues if not for the small movements made.

"Name please" the instructor asked me when I came up to my turn.

"Kingston." I said in response.

"Battle name as well please." He said writing my name in the book he had on his desk.

"Lightning." I said.

"Okay and what's the highest tier card you have." He asked me politely.

"The card I own or the card I have made." I asked questioning what my answer would be.

"If you have made a card than please use that one." He said slightly intrigued.

"The highest tier I have made is a five sir." When I said this I thought he almost chocked to to the look of his face.

"Please don't lie about this." He said trying to be serious again.

I pulled the card out from my deck after shifting through it and held it for him to look.

"Kid what house do you come from." He said taking a slight surprise to me not lying.

"I abandoned my house sir." I said he nodded his head in understanding.

"Take this slip with you as it is proof of being a student here. On the back is your room number." He said looking at me carefully.

I walked past the soldiers standing guard and enter into one of the huge stone and brick buildings. The halls were decorated with red carpets and paintings in very hall. Some vases had flowers on tables as I walked down a hall. My room number was 256 and it was in the elite section because it had a two in it. Ones meant common and twos meant elite. The fifty six showed that it was floor five and room six.

When I finally got up all the stairs and found my door I saw how few people were here in the halls. Considering that in order to be a elite you must have a for start card that you can summon and created. I walked inside to a huge room. The carpets were blue instead of red and the couches took in a rich victorian style being dark blue as well. There was a balcony and a bedroom. The bedroom had a chest and a hanging sword rack. The bed was a dark oak with dark blue blankets and sleek balcony sheets. A desk with a mirror sat newt to the bed with books piled onto it.

"First years books" I said aloud reading the paper on the books.

Here is the chapter for today. The next chapter will come this weekend or on Monday. They will come throughout the day being about five to twelve chapters. So if you want to just sit and read than this weekend would be the best time to read this book.
