Coming of Age

I had now turned thirteen and spent every day training with my butler. We had delved deep into everything from swords and arrows to magical creatures and weapons. We even went as far to doing practice battles to test my command abilities. Needless to say the was strategy games from my past life helped a lot with that one.

I walked down from the stairs of the castle to the carriage that awaited. All the staff I had gotten to know better than my family many of which were soldiers or spy's sent to keep eyes and ears on my family sent me off. The carriage had a red seat on the inside and took off with a sudden jolt and then calmed down to small bumps Avery now and then. I had spent more of my time creating cards and had about forty of them in my pocket. I was told I would get a card weapon once I could a find a shop.

The distant trees grew closer of time and the sun was starting to set once we enter them. It would be two days travel to the academy and I couldn't wait. The sun hung low in the sky still as the carriage came to a sudden stop.

"Step put from the carriage." I heard someone yell out with a rush of footsteps from everywhere. I had done as directed and saw about seventeen people all wearing raggedy clothes and holding old weapons such as swords and bows. The driver had let go of the reins and looked me before a arrow went through his head. His body fell lifelessly off the carriage as they started to approach. The only weapon I had was the sword I was given for the entrance examines.

"Since your a kid we'll let you live if you hand us everything you own." The bandit that seemed like their leader said.

"No thanks, but you can try if you want." I said cool drawing a few cards from my hand.

"Don't say I didn't give you a chance. What you waiting for get him." The leader said and five of them rushed forward sword out.

"I wish they showed me how to summon these things." I muttered to myself.

The first bandit slashed down on me but in the blink of a eye I had taken a step back. The bandit looked at me then at himself as the others followed up on his attack. I did the same with each of them easily as they became confused.

"Okay my turn now." I said as I pulled a card out called lighting step. And another one called lightning bolt.

"F**K his got spell cards, hurry and get out of there." One of the Random bandits said seeing me hold the two cards between my finger out.

"Activate." I said and it worked. I didn't know how I knew but something told me it had to do with a certain friend of mine.

My feet and legs starting giving off shocks of blue lightning as I felt a rush come of me. My arm also had a similar effect leading up to my hand. The five bandits tried to back out but my speed had tripled and I didn't even use the bolt I simply slashed them with my sword.

"What you waiting for boss summon your beast." One of the men said as he pulled his own card and sent twenty arrows towards me. If it hadn't been for my spell I most certainly would have been hit. But instead I pushed myself backward and rolled as the arrows went above me. When I looked I saw their boss summing something from his card as his card gave a beam of light hitting the ground.

Summoned being name- triple head dog.

Stars- two

Power 15/15 maxed due to host.

When I read this small magical screen in front of my eyes it disappeared. So this guy wasn't strong enough to give this beast its full potential huh.

I set three bolts of lightning at the beast exhausting the bolt spell. All the of the bolts hit it head making scorch mark along its chest and left side. It bowled out in pain and looked at me in grief. The rules of a card battle was the winner could take one card he defeated by himself from his opponents. If they activated the right.

"I activate the right of soul switching do you accept." I said.

"Of course we do now o can take those spells for myself." He said back. The only problem with activating the right was if you died your card could be taken by anyone if you were killed. Normally they would teleport to the person you must wanted them to have.

"I'll you give you a good home now. But first I'm sorry for this." I muttered as it came charming forward. It was easily twelve feet tall as it ran at me snapping all three of its heads. I jumped backwards into the air and thanks to the speed boat I went even further and higher. I reached about fourteen feet high and pulled my own card.

Name- Grim Reaper Of Shadows.

Stars- three

Power- 20/20

The grim reaper of shadows is a being that should be feared by all monsters. Its ability to become a shadow itself and move unseen allows for quick sneak attacks and hard to hit. It's scythe does not so much bodily damage as it damages the soul itself. It drains the life force from the soul increasing it power. The owner of the card gain the ability to gain the life force of the individual that has been hit by the scythe.

When the reaper to it's form with its black skull and Smokey black cloaks the bandits started running. Only one of the bandits stayed and that was the boss.

"How can this little runt even summon a three star being so easily. Better yet I have never seen a being like this." Was the thought of the bandit boss as he saw the reaper.

Just to be known a single star difference is massive you you don't understand that. Pretty much it's like hawk hunting a squirrel in a open field with nowhere to hide. Only do they even stand a chance if they owner is much stronger gibing their card their strength. But for this bandit he was actually holding back his summon. While I was not.

"What's your name kid." The bandit shouted out.

I thought for a moment and decided that changing my name from the one in my house would be better considering how much they were hated. Also everyone in this world has two names. One of the names was their real one while their other was their battle name. They could both be the same but usually weren't.

"Call me Kingston or lightning." I said as my reaper seemed to appear and and reaper slashing the three headed dog without getting hit once.

After about only two minutes did the bandit realize he should run but it was to late. The three headed dog took a major blow to all three heads in a swoop and turned back to its card form. The reaper looked at the man but I let him deciding he could spread my name more.

I untied both of the horses and held one with a rope while I rode the other. The reaper returned to its card after handing me the three headed dogs card. I had a similar card to this one called the three headed wolves that was much better and wondered how they would get along.

After a few hours of travel I reached the end of the forest and came to a empty grass field that had a long dirt road going through it. I followed the road knowing where the capital was from my learning of maps while I was at home. A few more hours passed and o could feel myself becoming tired and craved sleep. But up ahead I could see the lights of a town a kept going until I reached there.

When I walked into the inn I saw how few people there were but all of them seemed friendly enough and I booked a room for the night. I spent two silver for for some food and the nights rest. Money was simple really. Fifty bronze equals one silver and ten silver equals one gold.

I took to my room after eating the soup and bread and looked out the small window from my bed before finally falling asleep.

Be aware that there is no strict upload times. I write because I want to and nothing else. So chapter comments no matter what about helps a lot to keep me going. I do t care if it’s about a mistake. It still motivates me to fix that and not to repeat it again. Also typos are inevitable because this is on a iPad and it auto correct to the wrong thing without me realizing sometimes. Comments are better than powerstones.
