Arrival

The aircraft did not waste much time in picking up the new recruits from Gold City. They barely spent half an hour in the city's airport before returning to the air and making a beeline for the headquarters of the Black Gold Organization. Unlike the journey to Gold City, this one would take a whooping day and half to make. That was the major reason why the recruits had been given comfortable accommodations where they could rest until they arrived at the headquarters.

"Prepare to alight. We will be landing at the headquarters in twenty minutes." After a day and half, the announcement from the AI of the aircraft gave an announcement that rang through every crevice of the aircraft.

The recruits were already prepared though. They were all eager to join the organization, so they had made sure to keep tabs on their location and the time that had elapsed.

While the headquarters of the Black Gold Organization were situated in the middle of a forest, it was still a well known public sight. The only thing that kept the people from building cities around that area was that the organization was situated right beside a large xenogenic space!

The decision to erect their headquarters right next to a sizeable xenogenic space had been a strategic decision during the initial rise of the Black Gold Organization over a hundred years ago. Their location provided them with easy access to the xenogenic space, and xenogenic materials that they could use to make their soldiers stronger, as well as craft weapons of different classes.

Twenty minutes later, the aircraft touched down on a landing pad that had been specifically set aside for it. The doors of the aircraft remained closed until its engines had been switched off, just as a safety precaution. A dozen people stood around the landing pad as they waited for the new recruits to alight from the aircraft. They all had a noble and powerful air around them.

"This new batch of recruits seem promising."

"Indeed, they all show great potential. The organization's investments will pay out if at least half of them can advance to Baron Class."

"Half is a sizeable amount. Our set's ratio was a bit lower than that. I would say forty percent of them have a decent chance of advancement."

"You two are too pessimistic! Why don't you hope that all of them will advance?"

"Haha, you are too optimistic, I would say! If we could gain that many Barons at once, then I will hand over this month's salary to you!"

The people who were gathered around the landing pad exchanged words amongst each other as they awaited the recruits that they were tasked with guiding. All of them that were gathered there were Barons within the organization. They were the Barons that had emerged from the last set of recruits, and they had been given the mission to guide these new recruits.

They would be in charge of the training and practice during the time that they remained commoners, and would watch them until they generated a geno armament and became Barons. After that, their mission would be over. All in all, this mission would only take a couple of months because of how much the organization was willing to invest in the development of the recruits.

Those that failed to generate geno armaments and become Barons would be relegated to the roles of regular soldiers. Although it was a bit of a degrade, it was still reasonable. There was no reason to give a commoner the treatment of a Baron.

Hiss.

The aircraft suddenly released a low hissing sound as it was opened up from its hangar bay. The four dozen recruits marched out of the aircraft with awe written all over their faces. They had not even noticed the presence of the Barons surrounding the aircraft.

"Whoa! Is this it?"

"This looks so awesome! There are lots of advanced tech all over here!"

"Everyone be quiet! Look!"

It only took a few seconds of looking around for the first of the recruits to notice the dozen Barons that were staring at the with scrutinizing gazes. They hastily called for their fellow recruits' attention and made them quiet down.

"It is good to see that you are all happy to be here. We welcome you." One of the Barons stepped forward and took it upon himself to address the recruits. None of his colleagues had any problems with that. They all continued scanning the recruits.

"We understand that you are new here, and do not know the rules that govern your stay here, but e expect that you al behave yourselves the way you would behave in any public place. That said, my colleagues and I will take it upon ourselves to see that you are able to properly integrate yourselves here." He continued.

"There are forty eight of you that have been chosen from Willow City and Gold City." The recruits looked amongst each other. They had already split themselves up earlier according to the cities they originated from.

"Each of us will take on four of you under our wings. We will provide you with the necessary supervision and assistance that you are due. After a maximum of four months of intensive training, we expect you to have generated your geno armaments." He made some more statements of what was expected of the recruits before finally finishing his speech.

"Alright then, I guess it's up to us to pick who we want now. I will go first." He said. He then proceeded to scan the crowd of recruits before picking out those that stood out to him.

"You, you, you and you. The four of you will be under my jurisdiction for the next four months." The man said before walking to the side with the four he had chosen. Coincidentally, Rowan was one of them. He led them away from the landing pad and took them to the main building of the base. They walked for a few minutes until they finally reached what looked like a small conference room.
