Breder POV
{well, well! Look at all these rare ores! O! I just love the smell of free stuff for the taking!} thought Breder before calling out to Elphe
{Elphe go find a hole that big enough for us to hide in… well big enough for Mirielye, and if you can't find one then make one!}
Elphe simply nodded in understanding and with Mirielye in toe started to roamed about until they found an unused "hidden room" in the back, seeing that it was the perfect size for them all they immediately began to make it their home by setting up a few hive nodes around the place, now how did they work up in the air in a flying ship?
Elphe had no clue and just did it out of instinct. However, she did chew apart some softly covered wires that she found attached to some weird looking box, she figured it might make for better bedding than the cold floor. Also… she really liked the little light sparks it gave as she tore into them.
While Elphe got to work as instructed Breder began to talk to Vice
{Hey vice what cybernetics can I upgrade with these metals here?}
[Beep… showing list now]
Better visual - aka see further ahead
Storage space [magic on my part] - how big… don't know but big enough I assure you!
Stronger plating- however will increase your weight significantly
[Beep… that all your body at the present can handle, any further risk
Unpredictable side effects!]
{side effects?} ask Breder in confusion
[Beep… of course side effects will occur if you augment too much at one time or if you're under-evolved for it!
Think about it! Just because you have an alien body doesn't make you immune to your body rejecting foreign objects! Not only that but you have acid for blood!
Do you have any idea how hard it is to find Ore strong enough to survive your "shit" for more than a few minutes! Ore, like that comes with rarity and risk!
Then you have me! If I upgrade myself too fast before your brain is ready… well, I leave the consequence of such actions to your imagination!]
{ok… I get it! Will the process take long? And how much of these ore will be used? I hope it is not too much. I don't want them… never mind that I have an idea quickly Vice! tell me which ore and how many will be used!} said Breder
[beep... Ok…] replied Vice confused
After settling the matter with Vice, Breder touched the minerals, the second he did the little machine in his body got to work...
A few minutes later
After Breder did his upgrades, which were surprising not painful like he thought they would, he also didn't notice or feel any physical changes other than he felt a little heavier, and without a mirror he couldn't check how he look, but that was of little importance for right now he had to hide for the door leading into the cargo bay suddenly opened!
Steel Star short POV
[Hey first mate why are the cameras not working in the cargo hold?] questioned Waltin
[I don't know captain… Maybe they were damaged from the attack? Or the power to them were?] replied Vycent
[Sigh… Send a security team with the tech heads to secure that cargo breach! I also want them to make sure all is accounted for in the cargo hold! Have them Report back immediately if anything is missing or damaged!
We can't afford any more slip ups right now! OH! Have them return "that'' back to "its" cell! This isn't the time to be playing around anymore! I just know those pirates are still out there following us! We only need to make it to Bredale air space!] yelled Waltin to his team
[But sir, will they really just let us off just like that?] ask a random assistant
[I don't know… we can only hope… for now, let's just focus on fixing what needs to be fixed! It's a week's travel to get to Bredale from here so… just pray they let us go!] replied Waltin
Security member POV
[Alright listen up, we are to return that sheep girl back to her cell, but more importantly our job this time is to do a head count on the slaves! We don't know if any escaped during the attack or are waiting to ambush us the second we enter the cargo hold! Or if they're just dead…] said head of security with a pause
[Now you techies listen up! You are to stay behind and wait till we give you the, all clear! I know you're tired since you spent most of your time already just trying to keep this boat afloat but if we lose the cargo, you will not be getting paid… in fact none of us will! I can't stress that part enough!
The amount of money in the hold is enough to buy another two zeppelins! I'm I understood] yelled the head security
[Yes Sir! Senior James!] yelled the eggheads
[Good! Now John, you're in charge of escorting the "stress relief" back to her cell! Understood?] commanded James
John nodded in acknowledgement to his boss, while they made their way into the cargo hold. Once entering the hold, the men immediately turned on their flashlights for the lights weren't working for some odd reasons, confused Senior James yelled:
[Check each cell one at a time! And have your guns ready! You may fire out of self-defense if you feel threatened, but otherwise if you kill unnecessarily, one of my bullets will find its way into your head!]
As the men acknowledged their leader, John on the other hand passed each cell, and as he passed them, he couldn't help but notice something was off…
All the slaves were oddly shivering in the farthest corner of their cells… like they were scared of something… though worried John passed up the odd behavior to that of left over anxiety of the pirate attack on the ship or their hometown... Hell it could even be that they were scared of the security team right now.
But not having the time to worry about the oddities of the slaves at the moment, he pushed the fragile sheep girl back into her cell, and with a plop she fell to the floor with lifeless eyes that hid a silent raging fire. With broken horns, she cursed, with broken body, she mourned, while a raging fire consumed her heart!
While John glanced at the sheep woman for the last time he felt the urges of cold sweat run down his back, he felt the tiny hairs on his arm spike up like a cat!
With fear ever fervent he looked around to see why he would feel such a thing, for he knew there was no way the disgusting sheep girl in front of him would give him such a sense of dread.
But as he searched, he found nothing… Choking it up to nerves he rejoined his team as they welcomed the techs.
As the tech cautiously walked in, they saw the lights weren't working just like the camera system, worried that they only thing they could see was the emergency red light above each cell and the green light above the exit they looked to James for assurances, which prompt him to say:
[Don't mind the slaves, they won't be bothering you guys… they only bite a little... HA! NA! But seriously everything is fine, it's just dark. Trust me and my man. We already searched the area.]
Assured but not fully convinced they got to work and reported back to Waltin that only thing missing was about two boxes full of minerals and that all the slaves were accounted for.
As they continued their reports they mentioned that all the boxes of ore had spilled out everywhere and that the two missing boxes worth of Ore must have fallen off the ship when it was hit.
For they found the empty container by the hole, though they had their suspicions of how they got there, they could only shrug their shoulders and blame it on the attack, after all it was the only plausible explanation they could come up with.
Once the technicians were finished doing the emergency repairs on the hull of the ship, they moved onto the camera system, only to find out that, after much testing, there must be a problem with the power box that was hidden away in the back room of the ship. But just as one of the techs was about to open the door!
An explosion happened in the upper deck! Feeling the ship vibrate and sway, they heard on their coms to get to the top deck asap, and to worry about the power in the cargo bay later. As the technician turned to leave, he failed to notice that just above his head was hanging a serpent-like alien that was just a second away from tearing into his head.
Breder POV
As the security team and the techs left the bay, Breder dropped to the floor were the technician was about to open the door into "the hidden room", with a hiss to let Elphe know he was coming in, she lowered her guard and walked away for the door welcoming him inside, he looked around the room for only a sec, before asking Elphe to come with him.
As Breder and Elphe arrived at the cell where the sheep girl was, he noticed something strange, and not just from her but from all the beast-men in all the cells… it was like they all could see him and Elphe in the pitch darkness around! A suspicion that all became certain as he approached the girl for, she was staring right at him the whole time!
{I knew it! They can see me! That explains why they were so scared as I crawled about in the ceiling following the guards and techs…} thought Breder as he cut his right arm to bleed the cell door open, {That's good to know, I will remember that}.
With melted bars, the sheep girl watched as two serpent like creatures that scared her to the bone approached her! Though she wanted to scream she held it in, for one, she would rather die than be helped by "those men '' and second, she couldn't because the salve mark made it impossible to speak or make a sound. With regretful eyes she stared at the monster till she heard in her mind:
{well, hello there! Would you like to take revenge?} the creature said while carrying a red glowing egg.
