Now it is Arla Vs. Alien.
I having various cameras and drones to give me overwatch on the hunt in any space. I'll be privy to everything that happens. I even had the nanny android bring Vorn here to watch his mother's hunt. He is only a few months old suckling, but is well-behaved.
"Let's watch momma Vorn. I'm sure it'll be an exemplary hunt.", I say to the suckling. He does dome giggle growls in response.
Watching the holo-screens, Arla was moving towards the temple through the forest. A fun fact about the forest is that there is a tribe of Flesh Raiders in the forest. I left them there as natural wildlife.
And to feed the xenos...
Arla had cloaked herself as she entered the forest at the start. Standard practice to cloak at first. She proceeded through the forest at a fast pace. Rather than travel on ground, she was tree hopping. Doing it well too. She came across some wondering Flesh Raiders, but chose to ignore them. She noticed something before she moved on though. There was another predator with their eyes on them.
She caught a glimpse of its black tail. She kept eyeing the movement in the thick brush and bushes. The other predator showed itself after it creeped behind a flesh raider. It speared it through the back with its tail and then leapt out from cover at another. It quickly tore into the second flesh raider as the speared flesh raider was thrown off its tail. The third flesh raider became afraid and ran away.
Arla took out a combi-stick, and chucked it at the predator like a javelin. It went straight into its head, killing it and spilling green blood.
I laugh, "See Vorn, I knew your mother would disappoint. Her first xeno kill was done masterfully."
She checks her surrounding before going down to her kill. She even sets up some motion sensors. She has taken the lessons on caution well. An experienced Yautja is cautious one after all. She takes off her helmet and removes some armor that was on her bicep. She then takes out a special writing tool meant to be used with xenomorph blood that I gave her.
She dipped it some of the blood, and then used it to mark her bicep with a mark symbolizing that she has killed a Xenomorph.
(Same mark seen in AVP movie)
She smiles before putting the armor piece and helmet back on. She is off to finish the hunt. From the information I have given her, she is to kill every xenomorph to complete the hunt. How many is something she doesn't know. I will let her know when she has killed them all.
She collected her motion sensors and continued on her way. This time though, she was a little slower and scanned around more.
On her way, she caught the trail of something that wasn't a native animal or a flesh raider. As the tracks were much different. She compared the tracks to the foot of the dead xeno, which she had a picture of. I have access to her HUD and helmet feed too. The track was a perfect match.
She began to follow it.
She tracked it a few miles and found the lone xeno feasting on some flesh raiders. She again, took out her combi-stick, and launched it at its head. This time, the xeno had better instincts than the last, and moved out of the way. It hissed in the direction of the throw and rushed away to the brush. Arla gave chase, but lost it after some moments. She scoured the surrounding area for her escaped prey.
What she didn't realize was that the xenomorph was on the same tree and creeping down to her. As it was higher in the tree than her.
The thing about xenomorphs is that they do not need to depend on their unique sight to hunt. Smell and their other senses work just as well. They are also somewhat intelligent. They can look at a ripple in the water, and know where a fish is. They can she the swaying off a branch and tell something is on it. They can feel the wind, and detect what it is breaking against withing a certain closeness. Their sense, instincts, and predatory brains are astonishing. They are built for the kill to an absolute degree. Even these basic versions.
The xenomorph knows where Arla is, because it knows where she isn't.
I can see that Arla has noticed something, as she readies herself to attack. Her training in the Force has given her a keen ability to sense things. Killing intent from one of the most vicious creatures to ever exist would not be hard to pick up. The xenomorph leaps at her position with all its weapons drawn. Arla bounces up and over the leaping xenomorph and throws her shuriken.
As they are Force controlled, they cut into her target. The Xenomorph falls off the tree, bleeding and dying. It struggles to move on the forest floor. Arla throws one more shuriken into its head to finish it off.
Arla stares at her kill for a minute before moving on. I could sense her emotions, even from here. She was surprised, and impressed it managed to outflank her. This is good.
Respecting your prey is a good thing to do. As prey, especially dangerous prey is entirely capable of killing you back.
She cautiously makes her forwards as she continues to scan around for more. She finds none and reaches the temple entrance unimpeded.
She looks around before entering the temple.
"2 down, 4 more to go. Keep it up Arla.", I say aloud to myself.
I look to Vorn and find he is actually watching the screens intently.
I chuckle, "This interests you, even at your young age. Predation is in your blood Vorn, most certainly. Your time will come my son. It will come."
